this is so cool! i don't know if you're from the pnw yourself, but here's some unsolicited advice from someone who's lived in WA for 15 years: - feel free to put lots of ferns around the firs and pines, esp. in the most nw parts of the region it's really common to have massive ferns - if you feel like doing so, making blackberries be the main spawning plant lying around the world would be a great touch, as picking them one of is many people's favorite things to do annually in the summer/fall, and they are native to the area - the overwhelming majority of houses are made out of wood/siding as opposed to stone or brick (lumber industry woo) in terms of dressing sims: - flannels are still very common throughout the oregon-washington area, as are outdoorsy type clothes like puffer vests in the winter - people tend to dress very casually, including wealthy people - scandanavian last names are very common here, since this is where many people settled when they came to america (specifically norwegian and swedish ancestry) Take or leave any of this, I'm super excited to see someone making a world that looks like my homestate! :)

I lived 30 years in WA and was friends with some of the conservation folk and did some ecology conservation myself. Blackberries are one of the biggest threats to native wildlife. Himalayan blackberries are actually not native to WA. Please don't add blackberries. They're a non-native invasive species to WA that the state has been trying to eradicate. They're a class C noxious weed. Those are the ones growing along the roadsides and taking over the forest. The ONLY native blackberry is trailing blackberry and it's being out competed. Also the norweigian/scandinavian thing isn't true. The majority of european ethnicity/last names in WA is Irish more so than norwegian/scandinavian. You're thinking of places like Minnesota. We (as my family was one of the earlier settlers to Clark County) kept moving west as the east were extremely discriminatory against Irish settlers. WA was one of the last places to be settled chronologically, and the earliest settlements of europeans were starting in 1825. Migrants from Scandinavia didn't just *show up* there, they had to cross the continent first and the majority of those who settled in WA were in covered wagons and had been in North America for several generations. Also large ferns tend to be in old growth forests, less so in secondary forests. They need the extra shade and moisture, unfortunately secondary growth is usually taken over by invasive vines and blackberries.

San Myshuno remade with a Seattle or Portland vibe would be cool to see. With maybe Evergreen Harbor serving as the industrial parts of those cities, especially since it's inspired by cities along the Puget Sound (at least it gives me that impression, I'm not sure if it actually is.) Can't forget Moonwood Mill being based off Forks. Del Sol Valley and Strangerville would also be an interesting addition. The Eastern side of Washington and Oregon have an entirely different climates than the deep woods and stormy coastlines people usually dream of when the PNW is talked about. As someone who has lived all up and down the Puget Sound for over 30 years, I'm excited for this and will definitely be following along.

Absolutely love seeing more simmers doing this. Honestly thank goodness for modders. I personally would not be able to play this game without any mods. With the T.O.O.L mod and Better Build Buy we really can let our imaginations go wild in this game. Anyway, just a word of advice regarding the backdrops, before placing them down, I scale them down and once they're on the lot I place them down and click on them once using the Tool mod. Unfortunately you can't see them being selected like other objects, but usually they do get selected once you click on it. Then I just use the scale option in Tool and alt click until it's out of the lot boundaries, that way it doesn't get deleted if you bulldoze the lot. I hope this makes sense. It took a while for me to get the hang of it, but once I did it became relatively easy. It definitely takes quite a bit of maneuvering. I can't wait to see how your save turns out!
Yesss modders are a godsend! I wouldn’t be able to play it vanilla, either. Thank you for the tip! I messed around with the backdrops a bit more after recording this video, and I was able to get a couple in place better! They don’t highlight green but some make a select sound so I know they’re grabbed, others are a little more finicky lol I’m excited to share more progress!

The occult packs are honestly worth it just for a bunch of the items it gives you. Werewolves has great objects especially in debug. And vampires has some wall damage and cobweb stuff. I love it lol

I’d say go for it! Make a duplicate save file so you can work on it with this mod, and if it doesn’t work out you can scrap it and it won’t mess up your original 💖
It takes a lot of talent and hard work to build an entire world ❤. That Tool mod is a tricky thing. I am trying to learn how to use it. All I have learned is moving items off lots. Sizing and rotating is difficult for me. I am amazed at you building a whole new world and changing everything ❤❤❤ I wish I could do this so I could change the world where vampires, witches and werewolves live because I like to play more realistic game play so that doesn’t fit in but I would love to use the world to travel to as vacation spots. I know many people like to play with the cults in the game but I am more into realistic game play. Wish you were changing one of those words ❤😂😊
TOOL definitely had a bit of a learning curve, but keep trying and you’ll get the hang of it! It took me a while, and I’m still not a pro with it lol. I wish that awingedllama would make empty world mods for all the worlds! That would be awesome!
this was really great! i've never seen this process before. if you used the blowtorch mod, does that mean that players will need to have that installed in order for the save to look as designed? i don't remember changing the data/delta files for silent pines or other save files, but curious how that works :)
Thanks! So I didn’t end up going with the blowtorch mod for this, only willow creek/newcrest emptied by awingedllama. So it’s just one package file if you decide to go that route! If I had used blowtorch it would’ve been a whole thing that most people probably don’t wanna deal with lol

Hey thank you! So blowtorch will remove everything but the trees. It will apply to all your save files. All you have to do is back up the files you are replacing, that way if you want to set it all back to normal, it’s really easy to do. It won’t ruin anything, it’s very easy to undo it. But it WILL affect all save files in the sense that it will remove objects from the world you install it in.
If you figure out how to place the backdrops let me know! I'm trying to make a custom world as well, but I can't figure out how to place them so that you do not see the edge of the world still. I don't know how to make it look more realistic to the game. I looked everywhere for a tutorial, and I can't find any info anywhere 😭 so if you figure it out can you make a tutorial video?
its a painnnn!!! ill talk about it in my next video. but i figured out that once i place the backdrop, if i lower it using a negative number in the "elevate" option in TOOL, you can lower it enough so it still looks good but doesnt show edges, and then whatever imperfections are still there, add tree backdrops in front of them
@@wolfxdreamer6860 I made a custom skirting out of a base game world skirting for the edge of the world! (since the buyable backdrops didn't have base game ones) it's a pain to place cause for some reason it's out of view when you place it and every time you move it the elevation resets and you have to lower it again then if it doesn't line up. move it again then lower it again, on and on until it matches up. it took me a few hours but I wrote down the exact scale, elevation and place on the neighborhood map to place it. If you'd like the file just let me know :)

TOOL definitely had a bit of a learning curve, but keep trying and you’ll get the hang of it! It took me a while, and I’m still not a pro with it lol.

this was really great! i've never seen this process before. if you used the blowtorch mod, does that mean that players will need to have that installed in order for the save to look as designed? i don't remember changing the data/delta files for silent pines or other save files, but curious how that works :)
Thanks! So I didn’t end up going with the blowtorch mod for this, only willow creek/newcrest emptied by awingedllama. So it’s just one package file if you decide to go that route! If I had used blowtorch it would’ve been a whole thing that most people probably don’t wanna deal with lol

Hey thank you!
So blowtorch will remove everything but the trees. It will apply to all your save files. All you have to do is back up the files you are replacing, that way if you want to set it all back to normal, it’s really easy to do. It won’t ruin anything, it’s very easy to undo it. But it WILL affect all save files in the sense that it will remove objects from the world you install it in.

If you figure out how to place the backdrops let me know! I'm trying to make a custom world as well, but I can't figure out how to place them so that you do not see the edge of the world still. I don't know how to make it look more realistic to the game. I looked everywhere for a tutorial, and I can't find any info anywhere 😭 so if you figure it out can you make a tutorial video?
its a painnnn!!! ill talk about it in my next video. but i figured out that once i place the backdrop, if i lower it using a negative number in the "elevate" option in TOOL, you can lower it enough so it still looks good but doesnt show edges, and then whatever imperfections are still there, add tree backdrops in front of them
@@wolfxdreamer6860 I made a custom skirting out of a base game world skirting for the edge of the world! (since the buyable backdrops didn't have base game ones) it's a pain to place cause for some reason it's out of view when you place it and every time you move it the elevation resets and you have to lower it again then if it doesn't line up. move it again then lower it again, on and on until it matches up. it took me a few hours but I wrote down the exact scale, elevation and place on the neighborhood map to place it. If you'd like the file just let me know :)
