This isn't much of a plus for Mac. PS5 works because you are generally only playing other PS5 users (which is capped at 60fps). If you were able to play something like CSGO2 on Mac vs PC players running dual RTX 4090 (soon to be 5090) setups, you are going to be miserable playing people getting 500 fps dunking on you all day. The M4 Mac Mini held its own. However, the PS5 is still better and offers far more game options. Also, the SSD issue at 256GB because some games use a lot of SSD storage. Balder's Gate III uses 150 GBs and Cyber Punk 2077 uses up 70 GBs. A cheap and easy solution is getting an external storage. The read/write speeds suck on external storage, but it should have someone covered if they want multiple games on the Mac Mini.
Mac Mini M4 (not Pro) with 16 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD 1400 USD, no controller included, not even keyboard and mouse. Add 60-80 dollar for a PS5 controller. PS5 Pro 2 TB SSD 700 USD or with optical drive 780 USD. One PS5 controller included. So it's 700-800 dollar more for that Mac.
Here's the problem... Consoles are 200-400 dollar machines. Gaming PCs are way higher in price. Mac Mini M4 is not a 599 dollar machine. You don't even get keyboard, mouse and controller. And also almost no SSD. So gaming PCs are 1000+ dollar. The problem now is that "you" are trying to show how CHEAP PS5 Pro is by comparing it with gaming PCs instead of show how expensive it is compared to other consoles. Sony is trying to test the limits. How expensive consoles can they sell? So it depends on how you compare PS5 Pro. When comparing it with a gaming PC then don't forget that your PC is a great machine for mail, office apps, graphics, scientific apps and really everything. Right now the mac mini is the best deal for performance for desktops, with edu discount the equivalent custom PC requires getting used parts, which there is no issue with but prices arent locked in, plus that pc build wont have a lot of features like thunderbolt and of course will be bigger, less efficient and wont be supported as long. That being said the base mini cant play games without third party software that the average user won't get and the games supported even by that is a small number. (That being said custom pc build user should be able to use wine) Also if your really going to defend the mac, then you could dual boot linux to get that Proton support

Apple said their silicon was the most advanced thing on the planet!!! What do you mean it's noticeably worse than the cheap console?!?
The only thing I would add is that you need a subscription with PlayStation to play their games online whereas you don’t need that with the Mac mini
Until you can bootcamp windows it's not worth it. I'm not paying for parrelel or some other software just to run windows. So it's a no go.
Like the Mac for some software but windows for gaming. Not everyone can get two computers
*this is for gaming let me be clear.
This highlights the ever growing gulf between what i need vs what i want. The Mac mini is awesome in as much as it's cheap and powerful but let's be honest when it's not in the same ballpark as a PS5......the Sony back catalogue crushes it.......could Valve team up with Apple to produce a hand held and a console????? Great idea and would be on my wish list for 2026.....JM
13:02 you can use an external drive to run games it just has to be fast enough😂
The Austin we want
While this is fun and all things really haven't changed in 30 years. I'm 41 and I remember in the 90's looking through PC games at Costco. Maybe 5-10 percent were Mac supported.
Another video with rare candy shirt. Just announce the ad already.
Resident Evil Village is a old game now ngl?
PS5 (unless you're using the Pro which you didn't state) is still cheaper while stronger than the Mac Mini.... not sure what your point was, Austin.
i feel like they didn't install the correct colorprofile on the mac, since the dynamic range should be the same for both
death stranding looked really weird on both, but resident evil looked fine on both, and the blue glow of the mac did look nice to me, which is a result of the graphic drivers rendering, so i dont think that was the issue
i think death stranding used the default detected/recommended settings? cause it look significantly worse on mac in general and you ca tell the resolution didnt match at all
Now do Linux vs PS5
I guess this proves people can’t tell the difference between good and pro. I knew it was all a scam. The answer is if it can play a game it’s good enough
windows become more Mac
My MacBook is just a coding, hades and balatro machine at this point.
no, because it doesnt have windows
Yet on the 500-600 on the mac you CAN NOT install one single game after installing your personal data 😂, my phone has more storage....
I'm 19 seconds in, and just want to say, this is a great video idea premise.
1:19 have i been lied to this whole time?? Why is aron blonde???
Also I agree with lots of the comments... What games? 2? And some web browser games. I used to play RuneScape on a Mac laptop when it was still a browser game. And the employee when i bought the laptop saved my ass! He talked me out of buying that horrible mac mouse monstrosity
You should have brought up Crossover not GPTK
No, Matt, no it isn't. This is the third time you've brought your Macbook for show and tell this week
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep 🥶 Jesus..
But there are very few games for Mac so it’s a moot point.
xbox series x ????
Everyone won except aaron
How would the M4 Pro chip fare against the PS5?
If they actually made optimized ports for it, probably really well
Doesn't matter. Where are all the Mac games?
@@franklingoodwin they can optimise games for Mac with time if the demand and ability of the hardware is there
Gonna laugh when the Mac is the left
Right now the mac mini is the best deal for performance for desktops, with edu discount the equivalent custom PC requires getting used parts, which there is no issue with but prices arent locked in, plus that pc build wont have a lot of features like thunderbolt and of course will be bigger, less efficient and wont be supported as long. That being said the base mini cant play games without third party software that the average user won't get and the games supported even by that is a small number. (That being said custom pc build user should be able to use wine) Also if your really going to defend the mac, then you could dual boot linux to get that Proton support
