Yoongi's tremendous respect and humility toward Big Bang is never an exaggeration. There's a reason why he shows this much respect.
Big Bang was THE source of inspiration for K-pop to become what it is today. Since Big Bang's debut in 2006, almost all Korean idols and their agencies (including bts and their agency at that time, too) have studied and tried to keep up with Big Bang. Believe me, I was working in the industry in that era.
Big Bang's countless hits, visuals, stage performances, album concepts, production systems, members' solo activities, fashion styles, fan culture, and overseas promotion etc. In every aspect, there is no part of the current K-pop that is not influenced by them.
Those who have become new K-pop fans during Big Bang's hiatus in recent 4~5 years cannot properly understand the K-pop scene without knowing how huge Big Bang is. We are talking about a pioneer of the K-pop, a game changer, and an ongoing superstar.
If you look for BIGBANG's concert, music video, or basically any live performances, you'll understand right away. Why don't you start with the GD and Taeyang's Good Boy live in 2014 MAMA, mentioned by Taeyang in the middle of the video?

Taeyang and Jimin have very similar stories from their debuts; both were not originally singers. Taeyang was a rapper, and his vocals were not stable. He worked really hard to be a singer and dancer, to the point where he would often get nosebleeds. I also remember how insecure Jimin was about his vocals during BTS' early days.
Then there's GD (BIGBANG) and Jungkook, who are both naturally talented and get praised a lot by many people. I see lots of similarities between BB and BTS. I honestly wish the fan wars would stop. Why can't we all just appreciate both groups and their talents?
Please do your own research on BIGBANG and you'll find out why so many celebrities admire and respect them so much. They are really humble and down to earth. They are nothing like the haters paint them out to be.

BIGBANG really is like an unrivaled group of 2nd gen.
we all mostly got into kpop watching the 3rd gen with BTS, exo, twice, Blackpink and all but these guys were ALL fans of bigbang and grew up watching them.
Imagine creating a whole legacy of artists.
BIGBANG actually created MANY trends in the industry like:
    airport fashion
dying hair for comebacks (before them the boldest colour tried was light brown or white)
    lighsticks
mini albums ( finally introduced smthg in b/w a single and full album)
first pop artist to collab with western artists
Fun fact: BTS used to be taken to BIGBANG concerts as trainees by bighit to learn how to "perform" and understand what "performance and stage presence" meant.

They're the blueprint. They're the catalyst/explosion that kpop needed at the time to change the direction of kpop to what it is today. They showed younger groups what they can do and can't do. Which stones to step on and which ones not to. They opened doors for idol producers to be taken seriously in the industry. They started the fandom lightstick culture. They pushed hiphop and R&B to the mainstream. They showed other idols that they can be free, thay they don't have to dress and move the same all the time and can experiment, that they don't have to look handsome and perfect all the time to be appreciated, that they don't have to stick to one genre and evolve, that they can go crazy on stage and interact with their fans, etc.

Their scandals these late years didnt help but no matter what that doesnt deny their talents. After so many years i get to meet BTS and became an ARMY and really it feels like my two worlds are colliding, i'm so happy they can finally meet each other despite all the negativity that happened before. I hope the two fanbases can just be happy about each of their groups and try to forget all the bad things that happened. Taeyang is the ultimate Superstar - and yet he is so humble. When he was released from the military hundreds of people came they knew they were there. So he arranged fro them all to be feed. He gave the food to them all himself. Thats the knid of guy he is. He loves in family, music and his religion. yes he loves his fans. But I feel he consideers fans as family too. Such a great Singer and Artist but such a better man. Big Bang always went the extra mile with their music - but it was all done with real live music, lyrics, melodies, beats, hip hop ,rap, visuals - it was all part of their art. Each member contributed to their songs and as such they made true songs. Songs about life - good, bad and more.........thats why us fans have always loved them. Because deep down their just people like us and none of us are prefect. But we try to be better...... Thats the message I have always felt from Taeyang and Big Bang.

So from a Korean who has lived through the BB era, saying they were pretty insane might be an understatement. Just imagine BTS level popularity but maybe a bit bigger in Korea due to media being more streamlined back then. These days, groups have pockets of fandom throughout the population but BB was adored by the entire country regardless of age and gender. Every time they released an album, top x of every music chart would be dominated their songs for months. I always think 'one' of the reason for their success is due to their leader, G-Dragon, introducing American hip-hop to the industry while K-pop was mostly influenced by J-pop hence being all cutesy and bubbly, a paradigm change that was definitely necessary for K-pop to go global rather than being restricted to just Asia. This is probably one of the reason why SUGA said BB indirectly made BTS along with post-BB groups.

Big Bang paved a lot of new things in the kpop industry. First they were the first group who had a say in the music they release. They produced and wrote their music which was very uncommon before since most songs were just songs produced by the company. They also started the idol group who had rappers in the group. They didn’t just want to become another kpop group who can dance. They wanted to be called artists. They also were the first who paved the way in starting solo careers even if the group was still active. Their concerts and MAMA performance were so great that if you see idols watching them, they were all open mouthed. Just plain starstruck. They also were the first one who had customized lightsticks as part of their concerts. GDragon designed the first ever light stick for the VIPS which is now a standard to incoming kpop groups.
So you see how much influence Big Bang has on BTS. And I’m so happy we finally highlighting this again for the new kpop fans who sometimes disrespect 2nd gen idols. I hope this settles a lot of fanwars that these two legendary group (BTS and Big Bang) respect each other so much. And I hope we all learn how to appreciate all their hardwork and contribution to this industry.

This was such a lovely and insightful interview. I really loved near the end Taeyang talking about the importance of remembering what it means to be human, having human relationships and growing as an individual because it does begin to effect your work as an artist. BTS echoed these sentiments in their festa about how necessary it was that they go on their solo endeavours whether it be musically or personally, the industry doesn't give you much room to grow. You can see in the end how Taeyang's priorities and values in life have evolved and changed. In the end the most important thing to him is being the best man possible for his family and that is truly beautiful. As a long time fan I can tell you how much Taeyang has grown up. Him and the others were quite literally kids, pre pubescent teenagers when they entered this world and to see him as a grown man, married and a father, it gives me such a proud feeling. I can see BTS heading in the same direction one day as well.

As a long time VIP... Oh man... where to even begin with explaining how important Big Bang is to the Kpop industry, and how much of an absolute legends they are! There's a reason why many BTS members (and many other idols) are huge fans of Big Bang! (Even going to their concerts back in the day!)
To say Big Bang left an impact on the kpop industry... is an understatement.
    - G-Dragon (the leader of Big Bang) was the first "idol" to ever write and produce his groups songs. Songs used to be never written or credited by the singers.
    - GD's also the first person to create lightsticks! He made them for Big Bang's fans.
    - The first group to have their members do solo music/albums without disbanding. Also the first group to make the mini album series.
    - Big Bang would stay in the charts for months, and one of their albums won over 100 awards alone.
    - So many firsts in fashion... I can't even begin to list it all off.
    - They also hold the record for the most concerts held in Asia.
    - Basically they are the group that saved YG Entertainment.
(And there's so much more achievements that could be listed on here!)
You will surely stumble into the groups many "controversies", but many of them aren't really considered that controversial (by western standards), and from the time they debuted (which was all the way back in 2006) kmedia has loved hating and badmouthing Big Bang, since the group basically goes against the Korean conservative standards. I'd try to go looking into this group with an open mind and form your own opinion on them.
Now that we've got that out the way, if you want to go looking into Taeyang's music, then:
    - "Eyes, Nose and Lips" will be one of the main ones.
    - "Ringa Linga" is another one.
But I would HIGHLY recommend looking into Big Bang's music. You'll mostly find first:
    - BANG BANG BANG
    - Fantastic Baby
But if you only look into those two, you'd have a very narrow view of their music. I'd also look into:
    - FXXK IT
    - Sober
    - Loser
    - Haru Haru
    - Lies
    - Blues
And of course their most recent song:
    - Still Life
(That song is super personal and emotional, especially when reading the lyrics after knowing everything they've been through, individually, and as a group. Basically nothing short of Korean poetry!)
Try looking into these videos with English Subtitles!
AND THEN, I'd look into their live performances! That's where they really shine. Their 2013 and 2015 MAMA performances will probably pop up the most!
I know this is long, but it's SUPER important to look into these guys since they are basically the blueprint! Again, there's a reason why Suga is fangirling super hard here! And I love seeing new kpop people react to an old time kpop group!

As BIGBANG isn't that active now, newer fans might not know, but BIGBANG is a whole different level of legends. For 15 years, they only have 3 full albums (if I'm not mistaken) but they marked their sound in the industry. It might sounds exaggerated, but reeeally almost all of the groups now were somehow influenced by them. They made this frame on their peak career, and everyone was inspired by it. It became the foundation of Kpop. The fan-exclusive customized lightstick were actually initiated by them. GD (BIGBANG's leader) designed himself the first lightstick in KPOP. Even being the idol-producer-songwriter back then, were being ridiculed at, bec they want "real producer" but after GD wrote hits after hits, the companies in SK suddenly produced idols that can write their own songs. The bright hair colors every comeback were also trended by them. They were were being laughed before because it's too "gay and unconventional", but then it became the norms now. And there's a lot moooore.
If you guys are interested, I make this video you can watch it yourself on your free time if you want. You'll know their influence and personality, and at the same time why they were being hated despite their success :)

Also, one thing that were similar with BB and Bts is they literally starts with nothing. YG back then were basically "nothing" (as what ty said before), they have dorms that have mice, so they will capture it themselves. There are times also that they have to melt down a chocolate cookies in their tongue, so it'll last longer because they have to share one pack for the five of them, untill their manager comes in the evening. Yg became as what it is now because of hits from BB. Even President YG himself said "YG didn't make bigbang, BIGBANG made YG."
They were actually great and humble person, but they have this strong image (even Suga said that they were really scary like a boss), that's also the reason why they were oftenly misunderstood as delinquents in Kpop. But as what taeyang says, they were not actually scary. They were just painted as like that, that's why you guys might know, they were hated and became the "bad guys" especially by the newer fans who do not experience the legacy of BB.

But, I don't know what's your level of information you have on his case. But reading his official case, it was really different from what the media portrays him. Tho, I know that at a certain point, he is not 100% innocent, but it was actually twisted from the start. Most especially, judges and police were pressured to paint him a certain way, because that's what the public wants.
Just an example, all the "girls" defend him, and tells he is not involved. And all the witness, says in the court that the police pressured them to lie and involve his name. It's twisted from the start, because of public pressure. But well, time will tell. And at the same time, he should learned his lesson for befriending wrong people, tho it's a bit harsh.

BIGBANG has 7 albums 4 full albums and 3 mini albums as a group and 3 or 4 albums each as soloists except for T.O.P he hasn't solo albums yet but he has soloist singles, and a duo album with GD.. ..about Seungri's case please don't believe blindly about what you saw in those videos.. BIGBANG members are well-known for making jokes about Seungri just for entertaining fans cuz Seungri asked his members to do so🤦🏻‍♀️.. Cuz he's pretty cute when he get bullied. I know is ridiculous but that's what the members said themselves(even Seungri admitted) in MADE the documentary...also BIGBANG members also had problematic friends not only Seungri... And as Taeyang himself said " you have to make friends that keep your feet on the ground the more, the better"... You could never know what your friends do behind your shoulders specially when you are a busy person with a full schedule as all idols are.. It's not easy to notice when someone is using you or if he is a real friend and good person😔...the fame attract fake people, sad truth

@@bdcmxsyjds8935 ooow, thanks for clarification. I read somewhere that they only have 3 full albums, but I knew they have lots of solo albums and mini.
Regarding seungri, I'm fully aware that he's being set up. I followed his case for 2 years. I read his official case digest, and yeah it's twisted from the start. The fact that the lieutenant was demoted when he revealed that there are abuse of power that happens on the initial investigation. (and if my memories are right, he was found de*d days after. But they conclude it as was s**cide. It's fishy) That's speak a lot. Plus, the girls, and the witness that initially says that he's involved, later on admitted that they were being harrased by police officers to pinned his name down. Also, seungri himself said that police officer were intensely harassing him, and the due process and his human rights were clearly violated. If I'm not mistaken they also released a statement that says the he tested positive for drug use to agitate public, when later on after 100+ over and over again hair drug testing (including pubic hairs) all came out negative. But they do not released the result to the media. So a lot of people still think he use it. I don't trust media sources and their justice system at all. Their credibility rotten. So, yes at a certain point, I knew he's not guilty without reasonable doubt.
Tho, I knew he have a massive number of friends. He should still listen to his hyungs when they say that he should stay away from that certain group of friends. They clearly warning him that they were only using him because of his title as BIGBANG, and they are suspiciously bad from the start.
But yeah, I know what you mean. The only thing that I think he was guilty of, is being associated with the wrong ones. But well, pleading guilty by association also seems wrong for me. Tho, he have that kind of friends, we shouldn't also neglect that he have a good amount of good friends. It's actually make me think, that if we will judge his character by association. Is he bad bec he had bad friends or he is good because of his good friend? Does it necessarily cancel out that he also have good friends just because he once associated by bad friends? But sadly, since the public were so focus on him and media wants clickbaits by using his name and his band name, rather than the truth of justice and this case, he was sentenced way longer than the real predators.
For me, he can actually avoid it if he just cut ties with them. But well, I knew he will learned his lesson and became a better person.

So at that times, all the music fans in korea was shocked. Bigbang breaked and changed idol's concept definitely. (Sorry, i'm not good at english.)

true that they are one of greatest artist in sk but before bigbang, there is seo taiji and the boys who making kpop as the way today. he is the father of kpop. he create concept and his own music too. so i guess, we need to respect him as the pioneer. bigbang is great but artist before them also great like seo taiji

    • @bdcmxsyjds8935
      @bdcmxsyjds8935 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@ellen.. Yes but Seo Taiji and the boys weren't Kpop they were KHipHop. They weren't created by a company.. They were friends that started doing music by themselves and then they signed under a Label, like happened with USA bands(making music in the garage something like that)... Kpop idols era started with H.O.T (in 1996/97)under SMEntertainment.. Lee Soo Man was a famous singer who was witnessed the huge fame of American groups and he decided to create his own label and applied American Motown metode(training kids to make them artist).. Lee SooMan also asked support from the government for his project cuz his idea was to increase the economy of the country through his vision(Korea was facing a downfall in their economy during the 90s)...H.O.T made it so big, that others new Entertainment Label started to create and debut their own groups(Sechskies under DSPMedia, G.O.D after a year from their debut changed label to a pretty new Label called JYP.. etc).. During that time the term "KPOP" didn't exist yet was around 2000s that kmedia started to spread the term " KPOP" cuz in Japan the Japanese groups/idols were called "JPOP" so kmedia used the same term but in Korean version"KPOP"...
To answer another of your comments under this Video, to make you notice how much BIGBANG and BTS shared a similar story...
At that same time, after Seo Taiji and the boys were disbanded, Yang Hyunsuk aka YG( ex- member of Seo Taiji and the Boys).. created his own KHIPHOP LABEL and the debuted a trio. This group didn't make it so he disbanded them in less than a year after their debut.. Few time after he debuted his first khiphop famous duo JINUSEAN, and then 1TYM( in late 90s around 1996/1998)....in 2000s he debuted a hiphop girl group, a rnb/soul girl group and 4 rnb soloist( GUMMY, WEESUNG, SEVEN, LYDIA).. 2 rappers(MASTAWU, PERRY)( probably YG debuted more people🤔.. Sorry I can't recall all cuz YG was associated with others little labels but those artists weren't YG) ...YG was about to debut a new KHipHop duo(GDXTAEKWON/Taeyang now) but YG noticed how KHIPHOP was losing interest by the public and how kpop was raising again after a break of low attention... so he decided to debut his first ever KPOP group, obviously Taeyang and GD were against it.. GD was mad as hell cuz he used to hate "a lot" KPOP idols.. cuz KPOP idols had no artistry freedom and couldn't write or produce music while KHIPHOP artists always have done it.. YG was aware of GD frustration so he allowed GD to write songs and later on YG allowed GD to release them as groups songs(these songs saved BIGBANG from disbandment cuz they weren't doing well and caused a lot hate towards GD cuz knetz couldn't accept that a kid was a great songwriter YG had to proved GD was the one to write those songs, it was a huge scandal back then😑.. hating someone for writing and producing music the most ridiculous thing a ever heard🤦🏻‍♀️...anyways BIGBANG was debuted as a Kpop idol group with KHipHop/RNB concept..
What a crazy ride for a kid(GDRAGON) that debuted during Seo Taiji and the boys were active as a group(he was 6 and he even took a pic behind the stage with them😊)

BTS had a huge impact on the INDUSTRY as their music exported even more worldwide than 2nd gen and they went on stages Korean artists had never reached before, also in terms of sells and fandom they have huge number and are the most popular boy group in the world.
While BIGBANG had a huge impact on CULTURE, they're the blueprint of 3rd gen and 4th gen kpop, as there is a noticeable difference before and after BigBang in terms of kpop sounds, also they introduced hip-hop and r&b to the idol world, because of them companies started adding actual rappers to their groups, and they were the first idol group to produce and write their own music, they invented the first official fan lightstick, and as trendsetter they created the airport fashion trend, they introduced new format such as mini albums, and music wise you never knew what you could expect from them because they were really innovative and ahead of their time in terms of their sound... They basically made the kpop culture we know today.
Also they were very open about their shortcomings and mistakes as they were growing up under our eyes and never tried to appear as perfect humans (unlike a lot of idols), that's why since young they had the nickname of "bad boys of kpop". Since they shaped the culture in such a way that their juniors were able to make the kpop industry grow internationally, they are known as the Kings of Kpop.

Wars between fandoms is, to me, just silly. Most people have many entertainers, singers, musicians, actors, groups etc that they like a lot and or love a lot. Fandoms having "wars" between them, to me sounds like the kind of dynamic that occurs when young people (and/or people of any age who tend to think immaturely) decide to focus their time & energy in unuseful, hurtful, toxic & destructive ways by using the group they claim to love as an excuse that they think entitles them to pour out hate on others, and it is usually directed at perfect strangers and can be provoked for very little reason.
I can't understand why anyone wants to participate in doing that, because it helps no one at all, it even keeps they themselves tore up, upset and unhappy inside.
Every person gets to choose whether to focus their energy & time in GOOD ways, to benefit themselves & others (as well as the artists they like/love/adore) or to just let their admiration for an artist pr a group become a toxic gatbage dump of negativity. We get to choose whether we'll contribute positive energy & love to the world, or pour out vile, hurtful, critical, damaging words on the world regularly.
It takes a lot of time for some people to realize that when they bring negativity, toxicity, unhealthy competition, lies, selfishness, a closed mind or a superioroty complex into anything that touches so many, that they can ruin it.
What we pour out on others returns to us like a slightly delayed boomerang, eventually.
Fandoms at war with eachother is a ridiculous waste of time, energy and life based on what? Based on the fact the ones participatingin the fandom wars admire someone else's talent, artistic expressions, them doing what they love to do that makes them GOOD money?
I say that if they would seek what they themselves love to do, with as much passion and energy then they would not have the need or the time for senseless arguing and "warring" over other people's lives that a person might support with the power of their purchases.

I think the reason why Bigbang was such an inspiration for budding idols during those times was because just like everybody else, Bigbang came from nothing and made their way up through prayer, hard work, extraordinary talent and a whole lot of passion. They even said a couple of times that they were born to perform.Their debut stage is a testament to that, as if they are not rookies at that time.
The forming of Bigbang was a reality show a lot of people were able to watch. Same goes with their debut stage, its here on youtube😊
GD - started singing and has been visible on tv since he was 6, he started the lightstick trend - the 1st lightstick in kpop was designed by him because he wants them to see their fans/identify their fans when theyre onstage
Started calling BB's fandom as VIP because for them, theyre Very Important People
He started the trend of writing their own songs/producing their owns songs, which was not the blueprint back then
Through his leadership, BB became pivotal to kpop being introduced to the world, from brand engagements and to his numerous collabs one of which is with Missy Elliot in 2013
Taeyang - started training with GD since they were teens, doing endless training with no assurance of them having a debut
Top- started out as an underground rapper with zero background in dancing
Daesung- worked his ass off to prove to his dad who was against him pursuing a music career by juggling school and training at the same time
Sr - started out as choreographer in his small hometowm away from Seoul
I remember in 1 interview where GD and Taeyang told their story of them living in a very tight space as trainees with not enough food. The 5 of them recall having to share a snack by ration just so they have food in their stomach for training the next day.
They also have to live off practicing in a very small studio. Fast forward to present, Black Pink's studio is huge in YG.
Its so nice to watch this interview, the way they respect each other is so admirable to watch🥹

Bigbang may not achieved global domination lile BTS, but they are the biggest boy group in SK. Even now many years after their hiatus & after all bts' global achievements, bb's legendary status in SK cannot be touched.
Bb made huge impact in south korea. Of course bts too. But imagine all the active 3rd gen groups today, they aspire to become bb. Esp BTS. There are many many many bts contents out there that will show you how much they admire bb. It became not evident when they become big, but pre-post debit they always say their names.
Regarding the backlash and negative opinions from armys. Normal. The difficult yrs for bts were the yrs when bb's label and fandom were accusing bts of many things. The fandom war was insane during that time. The only people enduring with bts was army! So i get it. Thw amount of hate this is getting from army.
All i can do is respect's suga's choice of words, and bts' too since rm and jimin were also mentioned that he arw already friends with. I may not forgive what difficulty they caused to bts, but i respect their choices. Saying they made bts is huge, but it's simple as bb inspired these 7 men to be a great performer. W/o that inspiration, jk who's inspired by gdragon's heartbreaker, jk may not be there! Jimin might not be the singer we see now. Suga may not be the performer we see today. It only means that the foundation of admiration and inspiration, bb was there. Armys see this as negative bec haters can use those words saying w/o bb, bts wont succeed. No. We can't mix that with bts success, that's a diff story.
Anyway, chapter 2 is also moving forward, forgiving and meeting new ppl. Including ppl they admire. It's nice to see that the people who inspired u to be a performer is right in front of you. Having a collab with you. Eating lunch with you. I love seeing that with bts. 🥰

BTS CEO also said it himself, he created BTS because of BIGBANG. All because BIGBANG was doing something different, experimenting on music and innovating themselves along the way. BIGBANG was also challenging the system, the rules, and making risk that no one in the idol industry would have done. If you even go dive deeper, you'll get why YG became so big and why KPOP became a lucrative business once again. BIGBANG brought a lot of investment in the idol world that no one have ever dreamed of at that time.
BIGBANG is something else. I would compare them to innovators, trailblazers... the pioneers. They were at the forefront and succeeding in areas no one thought was possible. They help shape KPOP to what it is today. And that's why many long time fans say BTS are VIPs. They've always been a big fan and have admired them way before they became a group.

A lot of people that hate BigBang do it out of fear I think 😅 . They are mostly new to kpop and fans of the most popular groups . They like to brag about the success of those groups , maybe they have no personal success so this makes them feel special . Someone wrote once that to new fans BigBang is like Voldemort , no one has seen them but they all heard about them and are afraid . Old , full of battle scars BigBang is still the competition. It has been 6 years of hiatus and hate , bad press yet they are seen as rivals . But for idols they are the idols . BigBang gave freedom of creation to the industry . When you see an idol talk about BigBang they say "I want to be an artist like BigBang " , they dont see rich , famous , they say artist . BigBang's rival are themselves, they always chalenge themselves to try new things , explore , go a different route . Anyone who has talent see that as inspiration. They think I want to make my own road like BigBang.

so big bang debuted 2006 so they were literally one of the biggest reasons 3rd gen artists like bts dreamed of becoming an idol group like them bc they were also so huge, in 2006 suga is literally just 13 years old jimin being 11, u can now visualize just how influential they were for them, bts really debuted on BB's 7th year!! they were one of the groups i've been hearing since i was a child too (along with suju, wonder girls and 2ne1) why got into kpop since i was 6 T_____T so u can also prolly imagine that my eyes are really watery when i saw the poster for vibe and just trying to process that
while this was definitely a new side of suga, since him being nervous is a rare sight to see >_< i love him so much for speaking on behalf of us who enjoys taeyang's music to ask him to release more music BC OMG i clearly remember taeyang's last release was when i was in 8th grade and now i'm already halfway through uni HAHAHAHA.
i think you can begin with his huge hits like eyes, nose, lips or jimin's fave to play on the piano: wedding dress or listen to bigbang too haha!!

And if you explore a little bit of the journey what big bang go through, it got some similarities with BTS journey too. Big bang makes YG company successful. • @Jenniii86
    @Jenniii86 ปีที่แล้ว +27

YES!! Taeyang and Bigbang! Here is an extensively long introduction and brief history of Bigbang:
They debuted in 2006 from YG Entertainment. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. They just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before streaming, TH-cam and social media were huge like they are now.
They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen legends).
They have a hand in everything regarding their music, writing and producing (GD is the one who started the whole idols doing their own music thing), they fund their concert tours 100% themselves, they design the lighting, stages, setlists, arrangements etc for concerts.
They are hugely respected in the kpop industry and they are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. Labels used to bring trainees to Bigbang concerts when they were active to show them stage presence, how to engage the audience and how to perform. ”Even if Bigbang isn’t your bias, they are your bias’ bias.” They are basically five very talented and charismatic soloists and when you have them in the same group as Bigbang, magic happens.
    The members are
GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (high tone voice, very distinct and easy to regocnize voice)
TOP: Rapper, (minimal) Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, born 1987 (deep and low voice)
Taeyang: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (the smooth R&B voice)
Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Drummer, born 1989 (most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) (Powerful, husky voice, very easy to regocnise also) (Check D'splay here on TH-cam, he is totally not Daesung *wink*)
ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, born 1990 (light pretty voice) (Left BB in 2019 due to a scandal (he was our maknae for 13 years so I'm including him here and he's in all of BB's MVs except Still Life). I can write a different comment here on the scandal, but all in all it was a super messy, very public and complicated witch hunt, There is A LOT of misinformation going around on this scandal and about him so when reading about this be careful of the sources of the info, I would go with official statements and not tabloids (as they are 95% wrong) to get the correct idea on what happened.)
Seungri was the core of BB and I don't think they will make an actual comeback (Still Life was only them fulfilling a promise to us VIPs) as Bigbang without him. They have become real brothers over the years and they are still as close as ever. Bigbang will always be 5. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future. Personally, I'm hoping they will unite under their own label, make a comeback and give zero f**ks about what everybody says.
They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other kpop groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL. Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1).
BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every concert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The Band Six was put together by the request of GD and they toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café (MADE Tour), Tell Me Goodbye (Japan Dome Tour X 2014-2015), Candle/Fools Only Tears (Love & Hope Tour 2011), Haru Haru (acoustic version in any tour try the Japan Dome Tour X) and Sober (MADE Tour with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a concert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones.
But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are very normal now in kpop but what Bigbang started and changed:
    - Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong)
    - First fandom name: VIP
    - TOP was the first underground rapper (he went by the name Tempo) turned idol turned into a successfull actor.
    - Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype of idols.
    - Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music.
    - Combining different genres in one song became popular thanks to them. Like Bang bang bang. (They were not the first to do this but they made it popular)
    - Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop.
    - To have actual rappers in a group and not a group member who can't sing well enough and was trained to rap here and there. The first real rapline GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together from 2011).
    - Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group.
    - Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo career.
    - Every group having a maknae (youngest) position. BB has two Seunghyuns, TOP and Seungri. They used to call Seungri maknae not to confuse the two with each other and now every single group has a maknae.
    - The first brand global ambassador GD with Chanel.
    - International success before social media and streaming were a thing.
    - First real world tour (Alive tour 2012-2013)
    - First international awards
    - First mini albums
    - They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are (and not signed to a certain role in a group)
    - High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP)
    - Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again)
    - The list goes on..
"YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG." - Yang Hyun Suk (YG himself, the founder of YG ent.)
YG ent is one of the "BIG 4" all thanks to BB. Many kpop fans doesn't seem to know this, but YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a tiny company when BB were trainees and debuted and thanks to Bigbang's success (and 2NE1) they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too.
They've had scandals over the years (some real and some not) that has caused them to have a somewhat "problematic" image especially among the younger kpop fans. But in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in the super conservative world of kpop idols. They have never cared about the clean idol image, they smoke, party, drink and date as they wish.
What I personally love the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most, and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules and squeky clean images it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions starting now with Taeyang and GD and maybe TOP later this year!! The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating and were friends in public, idols were more mature compared to today's idols (as a 36 year old, I prefer adult idols and a bit more mature group consepts), no useless scandals over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.
I would recommend to start either from the start with La La La or go with the MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017), G-Dragon - Coup d'Etat, Seungri - 1 2 3 and TOP - Doom Dada (MV) for starters.
They are funny, weird, chaotic and loud so variety shows are a must: Happy Together, Weekly Idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang Scout and The MADE Movie.
Bigbang is 5. VIP Until Whenever.

I'm a VIP since their debut and I agree with 90% of what you say here. But Seungri made his own bed and now he has to lie in it. He's never coming back to Big Bang. We'll never know how the other members feel about what happened and I'm sure there are a lot of mixed emotions given how long they spent together. We need to listen to Taeyang's words in this interview -- you need to surround yourself with good people who will tell you "no" even when you don't want to hear it. Seungri instead surrounded himself with shady people and thought he would be smart enough to avoid the consequences -- but he was wrong.

Big Bang was the group that had the "first" titles for a lot of the kpop stuff that is common today, they revolutionized the industry and brought kpop to the international world even before the rise of streaming and social media platforms.
The company they're from is called YG which is known for housing the biggest stars in the industry such as BlackPink, PSY, 2NE1 and more.
BUT the company used to be poor and from the quotes of the CEO, YG didn't make Big Bang, Big Bang made YG. So without Big Bang, things wouldn't be where they are today. People say BTS paved the way but that's not entirely true, BIG BANG walked so BTS could RUN(pun intended) so I advise people to educate themselves and learn more about Big Bang's history. They demonstrated thats idols are also humans that commits mistakes and that makes them relatable to the masses.
I know some Armys may be slighted with Suga's comments but what he really said is true, Bigbang paved the way for BTS, and other popular groups nowadays like Seventeen, Stray Kids, (G)-Idle, wherein it is possible for members to have a say on their artistic direction.

thank you so much for this reaction familia!! such a quick upload, spoiling all of us 💜 please don't focus on the negative comments about this collab. my love for kpop started 2nd generation and although I was not a VIP (BIG BANG fan), it was widely known and accepted that BIG BANG was indeed THE best kpop group to ever exist that came from 2nd gen. Hands down.
There has been some negative news and scandals that led to BIG BANG taking a break, but we cannot judge Taeyang on what his group member did. It's like someone judging you for who you are just because your friend did something wrong. I'm not a Taeyang fan or a Big Bang fan (my ult group during that time was DBSK and fangirling that group was already a lot of work and commitment lol), but credit and respect should be given. Taeyang is a sweet, caring, devout, loyal man and artist. He married his first love whom he has been dating for several years and his wife recently gave birth to their first child. Lots, and I mean LOTS of people around the world looked up to Big Bang and Taeyang in the 2000s and early 2010s. All the Asian boys in middle school used to copy Taeyang's mohawk and learn how to play "wedding dress" on the piano to swoon all the girls in school.
I don't understand how they are receiving hate on this song cause of the collab. As a proud 2nd gen kpop fan and as an ARMY who has watched Jimin grow up being inspired by Taeyang throughout his BTS journey, people don't know how special, meaningful and long-awaited, and LEGENDARY this collab is.
To those that think Taeyang is out there trying to get clout for featuring Jimin, y'all don't know how legendary BIG BANG was. Most of the BTS fans came in during the late 3rd generation and/or when BTS reached worldwide recognition, but before kpop dominated the Western world, there was no doubt BIG BANG conquered the Eastern world. Before the smartphone craze and before the boom of TH-cam and readily accessible music around the world, BIG BANG were the kings. And this is coming from a proud, loyal ARMY of 10 years. Taeyang coming back with a solo album after 6 years was truly a tremendous gift to us 2nd gen fans. But collabing with Jimin was more than a dream come true. This collab is a dream for many, many old kpop fans. If you watch some reactions by OG kpop fans that's been in the game for 15+ years, you will see that Taeyang is the star in their eyes.
Imagine in the next 10 years, an insanely new popular boy group features in one of BTS' music videos, how would you feel if the new boy group's fans told us our boys are just chasing clout? Respect Jimin. Respect Taeyang. Big Bang and Taeyang greatly influenced our boys and SUGA and Jimin are respecting and honoring the root of their dreams as a singer.

They party like crazy during Bigbang's songs and I had fun watching them that's why I decided to check out BTS (this was when they weren't big yet). They also always get spotted attending Bigbang's concerts with their "VIP" lightsticks.

Big Bang is an iconic Kpop group. A lot of people suggest BTS was modeled after them because they had a similar sound at first (hip hop with some EDM touches). A lot of people who gave BTS shit were confused and said stuff like "we already have Big Bang." Obviously BTS cultivated their own sound and they didn't copy them, it's just how people like to compare. Big Bang has 5 members but they have had their fair share of scandals. One of the biggest Kpop idols is G-Dragon who is the leader of Big Bang. A lot of Kpop idols around BTS' age would probably admire Big Bang since they were the big Kpop group at the time. A bit of background on celebrity culture in Korea is that celebrities are held to an extremely high standard. Any step out of line will result in some pretty harsh backlash which has happened to a few members in Big Bang. I don't think it makes people bad people necessarily but because celebrities are judged so harshly in Korea, it can cause some pretty big reactions. Even some people consider BTS members "scandalous." It's a really high standard. Armys and VIPs (Big Bang's fandom) don't have a great relationship but it's based on stuff from a decade ago. I also think Big Bang became famous at a different time culturally while BTS became famous when culture was starting to shift. Since we are the same age Familia, we remember how celebrity culture was really flashy and about bragging a lot but now it's much cooler to be modest, humble, and thankful. I think a lot of older Kpop groups have reputations for coming off like assholes because culture was so different back then. Now younger groups know to come off a certain type of way. You can kind of see that in BTS' aesthetic change through the years. Their earlier stuff was more of a certain type of masculinity being presented because that was what was considered popular at the time.

For a emotional one - eyes, nose, lips (the one jimin impersonate him)
For a hype/party song - ringalinga ( there is a old bangtan bomb of jimin, jhope and V dancing to this lol)

Taeyang was one of the very few kpop idols I followed back then. What I love about them, they were both humble & kind. The first time I saw Jimin, he reminded me of Taeyang. Their eye smiles, their voices, their charisma on stage & they both always showing off their body 😅😂
Btw, there was a photo of the display where it showed that the 4th bottle had a Jin sign on it so we might get Jinnie in Suchwita next. Hopefully......

No podemos decir que inventaron todo, también están Super Junior, Wonder Girls y otros, además que la 3ra generación también creo más tendencias así como la 4ta generación creará en algún momento tendencias y así sucesivamente.

I love how everyone that works with Jimin always has nothing but incredible things to say about him and never leave out the word “hardwork.” Jimin’s a genius of hard work, so passionate, and such a perfectionist! I really admire him and he truly inspires me. Literally my role model for this and many other reasons🥹

Jimin is actually the one who is naturally talented. He debuted without any training of singing as lead vocalist. U can't do that if u are not gifted. Yoongy was so mean to jimin

@@shanjida609 youngi, naughty with jimin? I think you missed some part. He only admired her hard work all along. And he's right, jimin didn't have that natural singing talent when they started, and this, jimin himself often said. And I find it extraordinary where it has reached now. It proves how much he has put his whole soul into his work and it encourages those who do not have this natural talent, to see that it is possible. With hard work, one can achieve excellence. i'm really proud of jimin

Just as how you're new to BIGBANG / TAEYANG I too am new to your channel so despite not knowing what kind of genres interest you, I'll take a shot at answering the question of the day ahah. Taeyang has a diverse discography however his musical identity is more on the r&b / hip hop side. Feel free to listen to the following in your own time IFFF you want!
+ Eyes, Nose, Lips (ballad) - this song was written for his girlfriend (now wife) when they broke up while dating (she starred as the actress in his M/V for 1AM - her picture was also on the billboard in the M/V of ENL)
+ Ringa Linga (EDM; hip hop) - a song gifted to him by his bandmate G-Dragon (who also appears in the M/V with him)
+ Honestly just go listen to all the tracks on his "RISE" (2014) album - an ABSOLUTE masterpiece (songs mentioned above are also in this album)
Thanks for appreciating Taeyang as the humble and modest human he is, greatly enjoyed your video and seeing your love for both suga and his group. Perhaps consider checking out his guesting on "Look Me Up" on the 1thek TH-cam channel? He mentions anecdotes of Jimin there so it won't bore you plus they slightly glimpse on his solo career and his group's legacy (only covers 2% of their history but it's a start to provide you with more background knowledge - taeyang also reacts to videos of jimin fanboying over him).

I am really glad they had an episode together. I was really into BIGBANG back when I was in college. There are two songs of Taeyang you should definitely check out, Wedding Dress and Eyes, Nose, Lips. Actually, Wedding Dress is the song that Jimin kept playing on the keyboard. lol. I started getting more interested in Taeyang outside of BIGBANG after hearing that song in 2010 - his dancing and singing talents really shined in that song

The problem came with one of the big bang members getting into some shady shit. That's it I dk why ppl out there saying the group is bad. Like if 1 of the bts guys go out get arrested yall ain't gonna blame the whole group. Beside that TOP smoked some weed and ppl was hating on him. For a country so advanced they looked really backwards when they hated TOP for that. GD might be the most talented korean artist ever, along with the 4 members big bang was and is the most Influential group in the kpop business.
