Thank you for the diagram. I replaced my switches last year and wasn't sure if I wired it correctly. I did. Apparently my pump or switches are bad again already. Thanks for the conformation on how to wire them!
Question! I have a double float system but the top float only has 2 wires instead of 3! Does that indicate that the top float is the alarm float? The control box was removed before I purchased the home so I'm unsure if it had an alarm on it before -- or not. Thanks!
Hello thanks for the video so if I used wire nuts I would put all three white wires together and red from switch to black on pump and black on switch to black from power?
Thank you for all the informative videos. Could you do a video on how a submersible water well motor works? Turned on by floats inside a ground storage tank. This is a small water plant for a small system TYIA
I have a 2 float system. Does the septic pump timer only come on when both floats are up or does the timer run the pump each day regardless and the floats trigger the pump as a last resort fail safe? That's the part I am not sure of. Thanks!
I don't know why mine double float switch system does not have the holding relay, meaning each of them has two terminals (instead of combined three lines)? I just received a notice asking to replace one float switch. Currently it seems that the pump is only controlled by the top switch (not the one for alarm). How to check out which float is not working? I assume the top one is NO switch while the bottom one is NC switch? How to manually turn on the pump until water level reaches the bottom switch level? Thanks
Did I damage my double float switch. I have a 230v double float switch and I inadvertently wired the L2 line to the red wire instead of the white wire. Can that damage the float switch?
What he didn’t tell you is that you have to wire it exactly as he said. You can’t cross the white and the black. If you are using a 3 wire for a 220v circuit, like I was cause I needed a neutral wire for a 120v pump at the same location, the black wire must go to the black, the two white wires (one from the pump and one from the float get connected to the red wire (on the power source). Then the black wire on the pump will get connected to the black wire on the pump. Hope that isn’t too confusing. If you reverse the black and white wire on the float switch in the 220v configuration, it will not work. Don’t know why because 220v has power in both power wires so I’m not sure why it makes a difference but it does. For 220v, It has to be wire EXACTLY, I mean EXACTLY, as he has it diagramed.
I was on a job today that had a three float system. None of the floats worked? I am really confused. It all gets wired into the control box with a computer. The pump turned on when set to hand. But none of the three floats would turn the pump on
The most common 3 float systems are set up so the bottom float is "off", middle is "on", and the top is "high water alarm". You likely have to raise both the bottom and middle float simultaneously to start the pump.
The float switch makes or breaks the electrical connection on one leg of the power going to the pump. When the float is down the contacts are open, but when it floats up the contacts close and allow power to the pump.
Are you willing to consult for a fee? I have burned out literally 8 pumps in my sewer lift station and can't for the life of me figure out why! No clogs no voltage drop etc.
Thank you for the diagram.

Solved my head-scratcher on site today. Thank you much.
Glad it helped!
Nicely explained!
Thank you sir!
The results of a distracted driver and the MVA they caused...has me seeking out info like this.
Ty sir!!!

So how would you hook it up to a large pump that would pull too many amps to run the load through the floats?
Any chance you can describe how the relay is constructed. I have 2 switches and wanted to make my own relay

It's on our list!

How do I bypass the float in the relay box. Or alarm box
hi sir..when i lift the float like is full it will trip the gfci outlet ..any idea what is wrong ?
Could you please show the 220 volt hard wired system are there 4 wires on these floats.

Hi friend one flot switch in one tank and other flot switch another tank so how we can operate to pump can you explain
I am waiting for your reply
I have sump pump that has internal float but doesn’t work stays always on, how can I connect an external one ?
Thank you and great video!
That would depend on what type of pump you have, but we can certainly help you find the right solution. Give us a call: 855.329.4519
So one switch is normally open and the other is normally closed?

Hello great video, quick question, how does the piggy back float switch communicate with the pump? I have a zoeller BN266-C. Thanks
The float switch makes or breaks the electrical connection on one leg of the power going to the pump. When the float is down the contacts are open, but when it floats up the contacts close and allow power to the pump.
Are you saying that in a 220 Volt configuration You do not use a neutral only the earth ground. If so how does the relay work.
In a 220V configuration the white wire is connected to the neutral like it is in the video.
Sir Do You schematic diagram this tutorial thanks
I have a double pressure switch and canr replace it as in there are none which is why ki asked question below.
Could you please add Mfg. and where sold.
Manufacturer is SJE Rhombus. Sold on our website here: www.rcworst.com/double-float-master.html
Why is it so difficult to just say where the blue wires goes… does it go with red or black????????
My double float does not have a relay...it's connected to a box
