I really hope SM will now promote WayV internationally cuz their appeal really is for international fans. Even with the least promotion in Korea and internationally among SM groups, international fans from different countries really showed them so much love in their fanmeetings and in K-con. SM should realize by now how promoting in China is not as simple as it was back then and it's wasting the group's potential. WayV had been in a limbo for a long time already. I feel sorry to the Chinese fans but WayV can't just wait for situations in China to become easier to deal with. They need to change strategies and focus more internationally.. people don't care if you're the Chinese line.
Your so right all the members speak really good English and they seem to thrive in the little western promotions they do get SM need to wake up and stop wasting their potential
Actually the company never know how to promote their artist in china, even back then. Especially how they treat their foreign artists in the past until one by one decided to leave, and yes they still treat the foreign artist badly until now -_-. But yes you are so right, i hope they will promote them better, i mean it’s wayv’s first ever kcon and all the audiences sang with them, like SM please open your eyes! But i hope the best for my Waeishen my boyssss 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
China does not seem like a friendly market to Chinese idol groups. They passed a law banning “effeminate” idols in 2021, put a stop to idol competition groups (RIP INTO1 ☹️), censored men from wearing earrings and other accessories on TV, and passed restrictions against celebrity fan culture. Unless a group is already well-established like EXO or BTS, it would be extremely difficult to break through in the current Chinese market.
WayV also isn’t really “c-pop” despite what k-fans and some nctzens claim; their songs are composed in English and Korean by k-pop songwriters and then translated into Chinese (I believe some of the members have helped with the Chinese lyric translations). An Elvis song translated and sung in Korean is still American rock & roll, not k-rock. Since all the members of WayV speak at least 4 languages, they should be more than capable of pivoting to promote in other markets and I hope SM takes advantage of that.

yesss most of them speak English actually. Yangyang and Ten are the main English speakers and Hendery (second guy) and Xiaojun (last guy) can speak English too but just not as well as Ten and Yangyang
