How utterly cool. I don't oil paint. I've never oil painted in my life. I do fluid art, which is pretty far from this, but I feel like I can learn something from people who do what I don't do. I found you somehow, pokin' around on TH-cam. I subscribed, because I liked what I saw here. I don't know what I'm gonna get out of this, but you captured my attention, so here I am. ☺
Modern science investigating Human consciousness known very well that we use movement all kinds of perception, feeling, memory, dreaming and a lot of other States of consciousness to really devote ourselves to an experience and to the creative process of expressing ourselves ( both in Life and in all media) - there is a Danish philosopher who has written a trilogy of modern phenomenology. Just found your TH-cam video and loved seeing you create. The way you mixed your paints was very interesting! I loved taking your class on oil pastels in Denver am sorry you moved back east. I miss you!
Hi Carol! SO lovely to see you show up here! I do miss my life in Denver but love where we are living in the Philadelphia area too... Hope you are well and cookin' in your studio! Many thanks for your comments... cheers!
Interested in the wooden strips you have affixed to the wall where you are able to hang your painting/canvas while you work on it. They are much more sable than a single nail or 2 nails would be. it appears to hold the canvas well in place while you work. How long do you make the wood strips? How deep are they? Do you have different lengths, depth for your various sizes of canvas? Thanks.
Hi Kathy, the wooden strips are called "french Cleats" and I had them made by someone with the tools to make them. They are approximately 8" long and 1" deep with a 45 degree angle cut at the top so the painting hangs on the angle to stay sturdy instead of hanging on a flat piece of wood with potential for it to slip off. here is a link to french cleats on amazon: www.amazon.com/French-Cleat-Hanger-Inch-Whiteboard/dp/B0B1JJX9XD/ref=sr_1_12?gclid=CjwKCAiAzp6eBhByEiwA_gGq5F0hNdI4vB8EG4v7yB9Gsx9hDd4VO3MK4oF8cmUhQ4YcOQD8EUDASBoCkZAQAvD_BwE&hvadid=243364668447&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9007377&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=6453734531096584478&hvtargid=kwd-355314625082&hydadcr=7585_9884515&keywords=french%2Bcleat%2Bpicture%2Bhangers&qid=1674088323&sr=8-12&th=1
This was so relaxing and inspiring to watch. Thank you so much for sharing! P.S. What is the name of the song that was playing while you were painting?
Good morning and thank you for sharing. I'm an artist in Beijing. I haven't watched all your videos so not sure if you covered this, but how do you clean your dishwasher towel from the oil paint, or do you throw it away? And the tool you used to clean the oil paint from the perspex sheet? I have something similar that is used to take the paint off bathroom tiles, but it leaves gashes in my perspex sheet... Yours looks very thin and flexible.
Thanks for your interest and question... I throw my towels away eventually.... I am unsure of what a "perspex" sheet is... my palette? my squeegee? My palette is glass instead of plexiglass and I use a razor blade in a metal scraper holder. Hope this helps!
@@mariannemitchellwholeart Thank you so much. So perspex sheet is basically a solid transparent plastic made of polymethyl methacrylate. Some people use it. But when I use my "razor blade" it cuts into the plastic and the oil paint gets stuck in there... I will look at glass. And it always feels like such a waste to throw away things. Like the towel. I will use it, but then it gets hard, and can't use it again. I always try and see how to reuse things.
@@pr1me840 I know what you mean about throwing towels away... I use them until they are so stiff that even washing them doesn't get them clean! Typically keep a towel for about a year...
@@mariannemitchellwholeart I bought and received two custom-made tempered glass 40by60 slabs. You made my life easier and better. Works so well!! Thank you.
Loved that it was silent in parts because I could get into the painting without distraction. Thank you
so glad to hear this! will do more videos of "just painting" 😀thanks so much for your feedback, Cara!

Hey Marianne! I really enjoyed watching you paint. The orange is fantastic!
thanks so much! I'm an orange girl 😄
It was refreshing to hear you share that you went with a feeling rather than logic.
Thanks for sharing your comments! I believe that feeling is the foundation of our artistic expression...
