Climbing the pole to answer the phone. The Monroe Brothers: Alf and Ralph Monroe. Everybody laughed (even out of towners) when they found out that Oliver bought the old Haney place.
This show was an unsung hero representing all things funky. Such an underrated show! It's like Oliver was in the twilight zone. I love the guy who played the county extension agent.

Paul Henning didn't simply create a reverse Beverly Hillbillies, instead he brilliantly realized Green Acres as theater of the absurd. I find it fascinating that Lisa Douglas is the one character who is equally at home in both ecosystems--sophisticared NY and insane Hooterville. From an evolutionary standpoint this makes her the "fittest" (means "most adaptable") member of her species.

That was the ingenious thing about her character -- at first she was the one who hated, more than anything else, the very idea of moving to the country -- and then she ended up not just loving it but actually helping Oliver adjust to it, and encouraging him to stay when he couldn't handle it anymore.

I had wished they would have solved the square eggs mystery on the ep.I figured it was one of Haney's weird con games, or Eb goofing off.A square egg would sure hurt!! That toaster was funny.
The mystery of the square eggs was never solved, if I remember right. It'd be nice to have square eggs, as they wouldn't roll about, but it'd sure hurt the hen as the eggs came out! LOL.
I always wondered how Mr. Haney always knew what was going on in the Douglas’s house before anyone else did. Did he have the house tapped or wired or something? 🤷♀️
I personally met Mr. Kimball (Alvy Moore) in 1994, he passed away in 1997. I personally told him that he played my favorite character on the show! He was a very fine gentleman!

Dr Douglas wanted to just fit in and never could. Mrs Douglas fitted in perfectly despite being totally alien to everything in Hootesville. .
