You commented, “Ooh, facial hair…” Well, that clip came from Covid shut down quarantine time when he had to stay home for a while. Did you noticed that he was playing the melody of The Story of One Sky? Dimash is always humble and modest, and he kept saying that he need to gain much more musical knowledge… Well, he is probably Dr. Dimash PhD now, in musicology. He was working towards that. Most people, when first learning music, typically started with learning to play the piano. Just FYI. So Dimash knowing how to play the piano is almost as an obvious given.

He says hes not a multi-instrumentalist, but then we see evidence that he is! He's such a perfectionist & fan of musicians, he compares his skills in this area to musicians that he admires, & puts himself down compared to them. E.g. playing the dombra (guitar), he always says he's not a 'dombra man', but we see him playing it so well. Goosebumps over goosebumps. He learned this song the day before the concert. I heard he wanted to sing another song, but changed his mind a few hours before the concert and chose this song. He wasn't sure he would feel confident enough to perform it. But eventually he decided to sing it. The whole song is so incredible. Thank you for your reaction. Dimash was classically trained from age 5 through college (our high school). His Bachelor's is in Contemporary, Jazz, Pop, Broadway. He has a Master's Degree in Composition and is defending his Doctoral thesis in Musicology this fall. He wants to continue to learn. He plays many instruments: dombra, piano, keyboard, drums, marimba, cello, percussion.
