    Big man Paul Di’Anno…
    With Iron Maiden, he reached the peak of his career. He rose all the way to the top, but he couldn’t stay there for long. From the highest point, he fell all the way down, never managing to reclaim the fame he had lost.
    Meanwhile, Iron Maiden grew right before his eyes, expanding beyond the working-class suburbs of London, beyond England, into a global legend. I am sure that for the rest of his life, Paul could never forgive himself for failing to make the most of the opportunity that came his way during his youth with Iron Maiden. Perhaps this regret even pushed him further down.
    But despite all his weaknesses, Paul kept fighting until the very end. He tried, tried, and tried again. Without ever giving up…
    Now, I bid farewell to him, with tears in my eyes, through the words of Remember Tomorrow, sung with that beautiful voice of his.
    To the great Paul…
    Unchain the colours, before my eyes
    Yesterday's sorrows, tomorrow's white lies
    Scan the horizon, the clouds take me higher
    I shall return, from out of the... Oh!
    Tears for remembrance, and tears for joy
    Tears for somebody, but this lonely boy
    Out in the madness, the all seeing eye
    Flickers above us, to light up the... Sky!
    Unchain the colours, before my eyes
    Yesterday's sorrows, tomorrow's white lies
    Scan the horizon, the clouds take me higher
    I shall return from out of the... Fire!

    Hace unos 15 años (tengo 27) recuerdo que la primera banda de metal que escuché fue Iron Maiden. Éste video fue de los primeros que descubrí de la banda, ya que un amigo de aquel entonces me dijo que la mejor canción de los Iron ésta. Yo sin entender mucho del género supe que lo que hacía particular y memorable esta obra de arte era la proeza y la fiereza de Paul, acompañado de los instumentales de sus compañeros, obviamente. QEPD Paul Di'Anno.

      +maidenrulz73 Yep. Nicko is vastly inferior and doesn't hold a candle to Clive's savagery. The stated reason for kicking him out was bullshit too. "Substance abuse problems" my ass. Everyone was going through shit like that, even Bruce has stated it himself. To this day, they haven't given a proper explanation for why they sacked the poor guy.

    • @scottwoods6419
      @scottwoods6419 9 ปีที่แล้ว +107

      +ShadowStrangle55 The greatest tragedy in the history of Metal. Nicko is a joke compared to Clive. I saw 2 nights of the Powerslave tour (the nights they recorded in Long Beach for Live After Death) The drumming on Clive's songs was pathetic. Nicko can't pull off any of Clive's songs. I don't care how many fucking albums they put out, the first 3 with Clive were vastly superior to anything since.

    • @GorditoCrunch343
      @GorditoCrunch343 9 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      +György Hirschléger Yeah, Steve is the overlord of the band. Him and Rod Smallwood most likely came to a collective decision to replace Clive with Nicko. I'm also suspicious that Nicko may have influenced their decision as well, since he was their roadie at the time. Of course, they all blame it on "substance abuse".

    No Maiden performance will ever top this. There is just so amazing energy in it, an air of anger, ambition, violence and hope. No theatrics, no huge stadiums, just pure heart and great playing. And, of course, Paul Di Anno whose voice I consider among the best rock voices ever, plus the impeccable drum machine called Clive Burr, may he rest in peace. Bruce is an excellent singer and Nicko is a good technician (although rhythmically somewhat unstable), but that line up was just the best, the true Iron Maiden. Harsh, dirty, punky, street metal - and it has aged so much better than the Bruce stuff of the stadium era.

    • @davidhooks6325
      @davidhooks6325 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Look Paul’s era is great and he’s one of my favorite metal singers but there’s no way stuff like Running Free and Sanctuary are better than stuff like Powerslave and Moonchild
      And the theatrics really bring the songs to life

      @@davidhooks6325 I bought the 1st & 2nd album when they were released. Saw them live on their first album tour & met band members. D'ianno was the sound of Maiden. Their punk/metal sound something new. After D'ianno left, my interest faded, they sounded very much like many other groups of the time. If i listen to Maiden, its only with D'ianno.

    • @davidhooks6325
      @davidhooks6325 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@Paul-hl8ygShit dude I love Di’Anno too. Both him and Bruce have things that the others don’t
      Paul has the rougher “street” metal voice, Bruce has a voice for telling epic stories
      Paul has a more relaxed stage presence, Bruce is more energetic and is bringing the songs to life
      Paul has more rebellious “punk” lyrics, Bruce’s era has more deeper epic, story lyrics
      Like I said both have things that the other doesn’t. And I totally understand why you’d like Di’Anno the most; this song got me into Maiden- I didn’t like Bruce’s vocals for a long time

      @@davidhooks6325 I presume you are much younger than me? lol. Hence your like of Maiden in more recent years. As i said, i was there at the beginning & liked that Maiden sound, it was very different with D'ianno.
