- In this video , we will discuss the pathology of Giant cell tumour of the bone.
Giant cell tumor is a bone forming tumor that is characterized by presence of multiple giant type osteoclasts ( thats why it is known as osteoclastoma)..
Along with giant cells, there are mononuclear cells that are osteoblast precursurs..
Giant cell tumors usually involve the epiphysis of long bones at joints. As they involver joint, tgey produce Arthritis like symptoms..

Hi, in this during pathogenesis you have mentioned osteoblast precursor but it should be osteoclast precursor, do check it 😅
No he is right, the neoplastic cells in gaint cell tumor is osteoblastic in origin .
Then we will land with a question " why is is named Osteoclastoma ?"
Bcz the multi mucleated gaint cells resembles Osteoclasts .
Hence gaint cells are osteoclast like .
Not osteoclastic in origin .
