- I love In Flames, they are one of my all time favorite metal bands. Music-wise an amazing musicianship of Jesper Strömblad/Glenn Ljungström/Björn Gelotte evolved into several so called classic albums. Mr.Stromblad is still one of my favorite and respected musicians.
In Flames also known for their love to experiments in their music.
That's why, beginning from the Reroute to Remain album, the band
drammatically changed their sound and style. Me personally like pretty much all their albums in one way or another.
But when it comes to classic albums it's something personal, this amazing music came into my life exactly when I needed it.
That's why I decided to pay a tribute to this great band.
It's been a privilege to record this cover.
I hope that die hard classic fans as well as those who like new direction will appreciate it.
I only perform a cover version to pay tribute to In Flames and for educational purposes.
All instruments are recorded by me, no original sounds were used.

The thing is that early in flames (I would say until 2004/2008) is the pinnacle of "Melodic Death Metal". When someone asks me what a melodic death metal is I always refer to "Just listen to early In Flames".
I think there are only a 2 more bands which can produce this quality "melodic" music:
Insomnium
Be'Lakor
All of these songs are amazing, I think guitar playing wise "whoracle" album is far the best, but its awesome to play them. I see there are a lot of "melodic death metal" bands, but honestly none of them sound so pleasant to ear. I love to hear these extra double guitar solos too + when they change roles (who is doing rythm vs lead parts).

Indeed, it's hard to overestimate their impact on mdm and extreme music in general. So many bands in different genres have spawned because of their early works.

@@SunnYoneZana it's C standard, strings are Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom 10-52, are not suitable for the tuning, but at the time I had no other option and it kinda worked fine

First of, thank you for watching till the end. Considering a full cover of Pallar Anders Visa, I think that I covered the main melody which is basically the full composition without intro and outro. But who knows, maybe, when the stars are aligned, I may come up with full version.

Thank you! Haha I'm afraid I don't know too much about their music, when I was into classic heavy I listened to Accept mostly. Besides, in general projects like this are very time-consuming. For instance this one took me probably 2 months overall. Hope someday I'm gonna post my own music \m/

@@lt.branwulfram4794 there are 2 covers of IF songs on my channel: Dialogue with the Stars (one of the first covers I've ever made) and Behind Space at rehearsal with my ex-band mates. Can't promise a Colony cover in the near future. Despite the fact it's only a cover version the process of making a cover is very time consuming.
Nick91Wolf cheers. What would you say is the average time it takes to learn, record, edit, mix, program and upload covers?
@@lt.branwulfram4794 this one for instance took me almost 2 months from scratch to uploading on YT. In general it depends on what are the arrangements, is there a original track in a background or a pre-recorded backing track by me. It depends on the complexity of the song. It's hard to compare different covers, each of them requires a unique approach.
Hello, here is a basic listener of In Flames, I have only listened to individual songs, I would like to know much more. Until which album do you consider that the band kept its "classic" sound? I read a comment that the classical era lasted until 'Soundtrack to your scape'. Do you have a different opinion?
This is just my opinion, and coming from someone who started listening to IF with Soundtrack to your escape. But I think Clayman is the last album of their classic sound. With reroute to remain their sound became a bit more digital, which was a small diversion yet they still kept much of their sound. After come clarity things changed, although I still think ‘Alia’s’ from sounds of a playground fading has some of the nicest classical IF riffs.
Hi, I consider Clayman to be their swan song or apotheosis so to say. The name of the album "Reroute to Remain" says it all, band decided to change things in order to be "actual" in the world of growing popularity of the alternative metal. Later on Come Clarity was the closest one to their classical writing approach to my mind.

I have only seen that with the kids of a few famous guitarists. Wonderful work you have posted, very enjoyable listening to your playing. Thank you for sharing. btw, do you do any M. Thank you, great to know you liked that! No, I'm not his son, I'm just a fan of Accept, and when it comes to classic heavy metal definition for me it's Accept. No, I actually haven't heard too much of M.Schenker's music.
Thank you for your reply. I kind of thought it was a long shot...If at all possible try to listen to his early stuff with UFO tracks such as rock bottom, love to love. He also did an acoustic instrumental album entitled "Thank You" As a guitarist his style has influenced eddie van halen and countless others. Thank you! Guitar is tuned 2 steps down in C standard and I didn't change the tunning even for Pinball Map that is played in drop A#

Thanks a lot! Well, the sound is far from good, but I tried to make it at least somewhat listenable. For this cover I used LTD EC-50 directly into PC's sound card, the strings were Ernie Ball 10-52 (not the right choice for C tuning but it is what it is), the sound itself built with Guitar Rig 5 with some custom presets, mixed and mastered in Cubase 5.

@@lo3572 well, I was asked what strings I used, it's not like I recommend these strings to be used in C standard. For classic IF tunning in C 11-54 or 12-56 would work perfectly
