Hey Karen, I want to thank you. I am a full-time everything reseller in New Zealand. Watching your videos of your basement have inspired and motivated me so much. I have gone from shelves and piles of chaotic disaster to organized, labeled totes, shelves. It has reduced stress on my body and most of all my brain. Thank you very much. I cannot thank you enough.😊
I am almost 78 and have been knitting and crocheting since 9 yrs old. You are correct, the end projects are not in demand and the price of yarn these days does not cover over the labor or time invested. Although, TH-cam has many very young ladies and men teaching and sharing many new techniques and supplies. It is refreshing for an old Lady. If you learn and make things, it is rewarding....hats off to all crafters!!
I am 69 and I agree. I am so disheartened over the disinterest in hand made goods. I gave afghans to my entire family one christmas and none of them were thrilled. My sister sold hers are a garage sale. I have an entire moving size box of afghans I was starting to donate them to Linus Project but the person who was gathering them is no longer doing it and the nearest on to me is quite a few miles away. I do love making them but if they are going to waste... I am not buying anymore yarn - just using up my stash.
I knit, crochet, quilt, slow stitch, cross stitch and spin yarn. There are lots of people who still do all the old needlework crafts. The Internet has brought us together with wonderful international creators or makers as we are called now. The are several amazing English makers who know so many exquisite methods. Learning all the time and the fellowship of the needles is inspiring. Love your videos.
My Aunt taught me how to crochet when I was 8 yrs old, we used to make doilies but now there are so many neat and fun designs from afghans to clothes to stuffed toys!!
I've had to rewind 5-6 times watching this! Farm life, a flooded basement, and a leaky bathroom faucet are not for the weak! Karen, you're my escape "goat" and I live by carelessly through you❤
I crochet, knit, trapunto, embroider, needlepoint, crewel, cross stitch, basket weave, macrame, miniatures and quilt. The last afghan you were looking at is actually very nice and creative. The person who made it utilized leftover yarns from completed projects. Love Mickey & Minnie 💚
Crocheting is very relaxing. I've done several kinds of needlework. I spent 3 months in traction in the hospital when I was 19. I got tired of reading and TV, so my Mom brought me dresser scarves with designs on them and lots of needles and embroidery threads and I did them all. I still have a couple of them, 60 years later!
Karen, you and Roger have helped me look into things I'd normally walk by and help me be open to more categories. I like your channel since you don't go by a niche either! My passion is vintage clothes (any kind), but I sell anything and everything!
Hello Karen .... Im a crazy crocheter! Started when my aunt taught me at age 7 and have been going ever since! Made probably 2,000 items in the past 5 years! Its a great way to relax, relieve stress and keep tradition going. I also knit, sew, sketch, garden and do just about any form of art! Its in my blood and now my kids are also creating many various artistic projects and passing the knowledge to their kids!
It seems fair that you have less ebay sales considering your twice a week youtube content, your FB marketplace sales, and your new booth! And who knows what other things u do we don't even know about . Happy shopping!
Hi Karen. Yes I do crochet and counted cross stitch. My daughter who is just 30, is self-taught knitting and makes a lot of sweaters. We both find it very relaxing.
Crochet and quilting are my two favorite hobbies. Just went to an estate sale and picked a wonderful assortment of quilting goodies. Your video was terrific 🎉 Happy Holidays!
I have the same sleigh and reindeer that you showed and recently sold for $124.99. Wow! I paid $12 at an estate sale 10 years ago. Definitely a keeper. The family was doing it and they just wanted things gone. Their mother passed away unexpectedly. I’m 70 but when I was nine my sister and I would knit and embroidery during the winter in the Midwest. We knitted scarfs and embroidered dish towels. Something to do when it was -20.
My niece lives 3 hours from me, but on Wednesday night it’s popcorn time and we are texting back and forth while watching Survivor. Lot of emoji’s flying back and forth. 😂
I sold a Disney snow globe and shipped it . Made it there in one piece lol I did use a lot of bubble wrap. I will try anything once . Someone taught me to use pool noodles so I may have used that . I hope you had a great Thanksgiving !!
Hi Karen-I have loved to crochet since I was a teenager. I make baby blankets etc for a local charity and for friends..It relaxs me in the evening and keeps me from snacking. I have done other kinds of needlework but enjoy crocheting the most.
That was fun. You are an inspiration with all that you do. Glad to know that you and Roger make a point to stop working at a set time to relax with each other. Reselling can be consuming.
I loved the trunk. I bought one of the old dome lidded ones (steamer i guess). I got it at the goodwill marled down. It has petina and all. Has the shelf inside. Its a beauty in my bedroom!
Happy Holidays to you,Roger and your family! I just wanted to share with you that I made your cheesecake for Thanksgiving dessert, and it was a HIT❤ Thank you for sharing!!!
Enjoy your videos so much! I thought the trunk would have been a perfect display item for your booth… wish we could respond to you as you shop😂- Thank you so much for your entertaining videos!!
In Arizona you can download a monthly coupon for Goodwill. Anytime you spend at least $20. you can use the 20% off coupon. Savers is the same thriftstore as Value Village . Every Monday is 50% off your purchases.
I love Survivor. We watch every season and have since the start. Love your videos and look forward to them always. I learn a lot from you about brands etc...
Karen, those earrings look great on you, I remember when you bought them, I'm glad you kept them for yourself. I knit and crochet, there are lots of people who still do it, just do a TH-cam search and you'll find lots of teachers and people looking to learn, it's fun.
Hello Karen! I still have most of my Karen Scott collection, her embellished tees from several years ago were very well designed (I'm a professional artist/illustrator). Recently, KS has dissappeared from Macys, The ones you are seeing are probably from several uears ago at least. 🌺
Hi Karen I crochet and needlepoint I’m 77 and love it. My granddaughter is 26 and planning a family so I have a want list of baby stuff to do. Love love your show.
I embroider, cross stitch and slow stitch miniatures. Crocheting/knitting started making my hands hurt. Im older lol. Love and hugs to you both. ❤❤ love your personality and your videos!!!
8:08 I inherited my former mother-in-law’s Byers Choice collection. I wasn’t sure about them at first, but they have really grown on me over the years. I thought the paper mache ones you showed were adorable. Too bad there isn’t any resale value to them. 😊
Hi Karen, I actually used to crochet for a job in the 80s. Estelle Gracer designed high end jackets and hired people to make them at home. When I see them on eBay, I always wonder if it is one of mine. lol Have a great week. ❤
I am in the UK and when I watch this channel I am always reminded of how huge the USA is...in comparison the UK is tiny so with this in mind charity shops (Goodwill to Americans's) here are tiny. If you walk into a chrity shop here there may be ten or twelve Christmas sweaters...compared to the long, long, long rack there was in the shop that you were in today!!
at 7 minutes, the 2 figures - those were hand made, probably in the 70s. They had a glass pop bottle inside. My sister made a girl in a pink dress. Very cute, very retro. Not sure if collectible at this point or not.
I’ve had several cookie decorating parties for my friends children. Once I had 10 6th grade girls! Small boys usually don’t have the attention span to sit for more than 30 minutes. Of course all the cookies are already baked. I purchased 5 plastic clear (kind of) ketchup bottles at the store. Around $1 each. I put the frosting in these. Kids are able to squeeze the frosting out easily. I’ve also used small freezer bags and cut the tip. I put some frosting in bowls with table knives for spreading. Each kid has a paper plate to decorate the cookie on. Plan on only 5 cookies per child. Sweep your floor immediately after they leave! I usually make an easy frosting of powdered sugar and meringue powder(1 tablespoon or more). It’s not royal icing but will harden within an hour. You’ll need a few big trays to put the cookies on while drying. I’m sure you did this with your own kids years ago. Our family decorates cookies every Christmas Eve day. Everyone. Probably our 20th year now. Boys like to decorate with their favorite sports team colors. Good Luck Karen and Roger!!’

I would've definitely bought the little wooden trunks ❤
I love your cardigan! Your home is looking very festive. Love to you and Roger xx

The trunk looked a bit like a vintage, retired American Girl doll trunk. Especially the style and colors of the liner.
