I use a VGA to HDMI adapter to connect my Dreamcast to the TV and I find that the picture looks great. The only issue that I have is that some games are not VGA compatible which forces me to change to an RGB scart cable every time I want to play one of those incompatible games.
Some times booting up the code breaker disc first then just simply disc swapping does work on some of those titles other wise you downloaded a patched version of the game and burn it on to disc or simple use a GDemu
There are some SCART cables that incorporate VGA box compatibility so all you have to do is flip a switch on the cable. You'll need an input that can do 480p via SCART but if you have a video scaler meant for retro games like the retrotink 5x it should be fine.
Tried the hyperkin cable but it doesn't work with my Samsung, I think I need something with a Power adapter with it like the other Hyperkin cables I have. need to think hard about this before i try something else.
The LevelHike hdmi adapter I have makes the screen really dark, and doesn't have a 4:3 option. They told me to adjust the values and screen size on my TV, but it doesn't really work for recording with my setup. I think I'll try going the OSSC route
Thanks nice and short...For bit there your voice is doubled not a big deal...I got the Kaico one about month back so far so good..Not as good when i hate it my old LCD TV with VGA but close enough..I heard the Bitfunk one is the same adaptor for less $.
@@eaglesmann024 that ll be up to your tv setting most tv give you access to that, but the game we're designed in 4:3 but you force games to feature widescreen, I also did a video on how to do that.
Here's a link th-cam.com/video/wSklLtO-UPI/w-d-xo.html Only a a very few games actually have wide screen as a option with in the game its self to set to 16:9 because widscreen was really utilised a fair few years after the Dreamcast,
Hello I dug my Dreamcast out for first time in 20 years and plugged into my 2009 Panasonic Plasma using a composite cable plugged into a SCART connector. I have an issue whereby the output is more to the left of the screen and isn't central. Also I tried played Sonic and it appears to be missing the top of the screen. I have tried playing around with my TV settings but not sure how to resolve can you help please? kind regards

ossc route does have the better output then the rest, really happy with mine
the DCHDMI is really good, but pricey
Yeah that would be great, only the very lucky ones have that installed , I hope to be have it some day
Would a scart to component converter allow my to play my dreamcast on my CRT?
Yes but you will be degradation the out put quality as RGB scart is the better choice
@Right Sprite Retro Gaming UK my CRT only has component, thanks for the response !

@@rightspritegaming thanks mann for the info
My Kaico produces vertical, gray dotted lines. Is there any way to fix this?
Sounds like a faulty unit tba. I used contact them direct to amend this, but fist try a other HDmi cable and TV to see if you get the same problem
Sounds like normal screen dithering that is naturally part of the Dreamcast’s analogue vga image.
Crt scart is great
Yeah the rgb output is great on crt, with 480p on a pc crt monitor, that is a step up
@@rightspritegaming True, I think these older consoles look way better on the crts
