A dedicated Chinese fans make a group named Kyoto Fantasy Troupe decided to make a new fanmade Touhou Animation.
"Hifuu Club Activity Record ~ The Sealed Esoteric History. is a Touhou fan project by our circle, Kyoto Fantasy Troupe.
It is a large project centered around animation, supplemented by comics, written fiction, illustrations and other paraphernalia.
The production of the project will be a long and involved process, and we will do our best to bring you the story we want to tell. (Of course, this has to be done in several steps.)
The story begun when the two members of Sealing Club obtained an artifact originating from Gensokyo. They realized there is a hidden history behind this artifact, and started their research into those secrets.
What will they encounter? What will they discover?
Their investigations will bring them near the forgotten history of the Touhou universe, to stories of the past hidden beneath today’s peaceful Gensokyo.
A complete view of the world of Touhou Project will be shown before our eyes.
This is our goal, and what we have been striving for - to turn the Gensokyo we love into pictures, and to share it with other people who have felt the same love.
We are now nearing the completion of “Prologue”. Without any unexpected incidents, it will become available at Chinese conventions this November.
It is only a short piece, but we have put in all our efforts in the past few months.
People might ask, why are we making this prologue first rather than a full episode.
To tell the truth, we would also love to dive directly into making a full episode! But creating an animated show is an extremely costly endeavor in every sense of the word.
As Touhou fans, we have done our best in our spare time. We have adopted a professional production process, and invited many pros to provide us with guidance and help.
In the end, we have survived the pressure, and delivered “Prologue” using only a few months.
We consider “Prologue” to be a complete work, which will also be used as the opening for full episodes in the future.
The final production steps are now underway. If everything goes well, we will be selling it at conventions and by mail order by mid-November.
We will try to prepare a Japanese version as soon as possible."

Get this group together with Manpuku Jinja, and even ZUN might relent on his 'no anime' policy. Mostly because they respect the hell out of his work
So, we got a lot of interesting backstory from this OP:
- 00:51 Yuyuko before she committed suicide.
- 00:55 The EoSD cast.
- 01:03 The lunar invasion led by Yukari.
- 01:07 The fight between Suwako and Kanako.
- 01:15 What happened when Byakuren confronted Murasa.
- 01:22 --> 01:26: I'm guessing Mokou fighting Reisen? Or something else that i don't know...
I hope this fanime presents these backstories well.

This looks pretty top-notch. Looking forward to see the battle between Kanako and Suwako.
This is going to be amazing. I thought that Memories of Phantasm was good looking, but this opening just blew me away. The animation, the quality of the drawings, the music... Just wow. Count me impressed.
If there's something that I simply adore about the Touhou community, it's how they always manage to suprise us. This animation will be based on the fans' point of view of the characters, and no doubt that it will provide something outstanding. The games may not show us much back-story, but animations like these will give us that in spades. I really do wonder how all this will grow. It has been an extremely long time since I last got hyped for something that much.

You know what I think would be really cool? I wish I could contact them in some way because I just thought about funding them with patreon or kick starter or something like that. Wouldn't it be cool if we could make an actual touhou anime that has enough budget and time and money to work on it for more than an episode a year?

Actually there is a compony(forgot what compony was it) that offered ZUN to make an official anime of Touhou, but ZUN didn't accept the offer for an an known reason..
Vent Stelar ZUN didn't accept because he wants Touhou to be known by its official games rather than an anime, since enough people aren't familiar with the games as is. ZUN doesn't want to sell out, sort of like a certain other doujin franchise.
Virgilius Maro I don't know. Given the sad fact Touhou is becoming ever-so-slightly less popular, it may eventually be a good idea. I still say wait for another few years, as I don't want it to sell out, but if its the only way to assure both sides can exist, and both sides WANT to exist, then I say go for it.

I feel bad for the workers of Soeh (aka sealed of estoric history) beacuse they have a lot of time to work while memories of phamtasm has like 13 esposodes while SoeH has 2

I had a dream very similar to this video a the scene of the Snake and the boat floating and sailing in the stormy water a few days ago, at the beginning of October. Visions of the future, just like the characters do have in many of the the fictional stories.
Some of the animation in this reminds me of Memories of Phantasm.
Very impressive. It looks better than a lot of professional animations.

I would support a Manpuku Jinja Kickstarter so hard. They may not have much in terms of story, but their work is beyond gorgeous, and I would gladly support them if it means increase the length of their episodes, that way they'll be able to tell a better story like alot of people want

It's interesting to note the differences between this version of the OP and the version in the first episode. 0:21-0:24 was replaced with a shot of Renko and Maribel in a train. 1:02-1:06 was tweaked to accommodate changes they made to Yukari's design. 1:23-1:26 was changed to Mokou doing a completely different attack. I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of smaller changes, but those are the most notable ones off the top of my head.
The first episode OP also has a slightly different version of the song, with some guitar spliced in.
How much is it? Do you have any comments of it? I heard some of my friends saying this is amazing

+迷惘金天 If you end up opting to buy it, it's like 3800 yen (30-35 USD with the current exchange rate), but then there's shipping and you have to use forwarding services, so that could end up adding a ton to the final cost. I enjoyed it a lot; it features lots of Renko and Merry being gay and lovable so that gets an A+ from me. No voice acting; it's like Memories of Phantasm in that characters "speak" normally, but then all the dialogue is on-screen subtitles. That ended up getting a fandub, so who knows, so might this.
I have got a news about the voice acting.The version that has voice acting will release soon in May.

Guys. There is something odd happening the composers' group. I just visited their website recently. Then I was in a tremendous shock that almost everything is removed from there and later finds out their past records are gone as well. Don't know what has happened to them, yet I am quite sure about one thing: with no movements in these days, the group is less likely to produce a new episode. I heard that they can't even compensate the production costs by selling this anime....I guess this may be the end of one of the greatest Doujin animations....T.T

if I watched this without any previous information I would totally think it was a real anime. But as an avid anime watcher, and knowing that its fan made, It helped me find very small scenes where it feels not as smooth as I would enjoy. Therefore, I will rate it a 9.5/10 image, video, and background quality. If those little tiny quirks are fixed, on behalf of the majority of anime watchers, I will rate it a 10/10 100% would watch and recommend just my own opinion, though

Aren't they always included with every official soundtrack release?...
Because they have actual stories written about them other than only stage dialogue. Meaning that they have more character and personality than just about every other character except for Reimu, Marisa and maybe a few others.

Just saying, ZUN is amazing at making characters. When you can make a bio for a character you really only fight once in the whole series, what's stopping you from making good characters for short stories?

The one with the green haired one is past Minamitsu before she met Byakuren and was still spending her life sinking ships. The browned haired one is past Byakuren before she was sealed in Hokkai. The scene is based on Byakuren meeting Minamitsu for the first time after Byakuren was told to stop Minamitsu from sinking ships.

Nice. Always good to see something new, of course, and the backstory of Gensokyo is something that hasn't been covered a whole lot.
Mostly, though, I'd just like to know what role Maribel and Renko play in the whole Touhou saga. They're outsiders. They can't get there from here. What exactly do they do about... well, what exactly do they do at all? A poignant PV about the creation of the Great Hakurei Barrier is one thing; can these unknown quantities carry a whole series? I have no idea, but it'll be fascinating to find out.

Mikihiko Yoshi Actually.. thats the reason why Touhou is popular because of the hundreds/thousand bullets(called danmaku) that needs to be dodge.. The original story is in the game expanded by manga's and novel's... The first touhou game is kinda like Tetris style then Denmaku and Fighting game... I dont know why ZUN don't like an official anime out of the story even though the game run for 18 years.. and have 21 games(going to be 22 for an upcoming game) and 9 manga/novel(few ongoing). All the game, manga, and novel are connected to one story..
I need this in my life.

1:05 - I think the picture should have rested half a second longer on Yukari and her Lunar Invasion host, and maybe the Earth in the background could have been more empathized too... It is one of the coolest moments from canon to me >_
Episode 1 would be about the first lunar war, really excited about it, if only they had more budget, could have had a 40 min episode
