I always wore low sneakers weather air max running sneakers or old school Adidas or pumas which can be worn skateboarding. I had some friends who only wore hightop basketball sneakers and that's all they would wear while skateboarding. There made for it no doubt. All the qualities of a basketball sneaker are the same exact qualities of a skateboard sneaker. If your gonna spend 220 on sneakers you might as well skate in them
I tried to get these but I made the mistake of entering the store via the front door, it appears that the customers who utilized the back door entrance were the recipients of this sneaker release!

Skated in Cement 4’s, Black and Red 4’s (Mars Blackmon, not BRED’s) back in 89 and 90. The midsole and rubber triangle were great at keeping Ollie holes at bay, the air pockets/soles helped on gig staircases and launch ramps, compared to awful Vans back in the day. I’d love these now! Let’s go!

The whole point of the Nike SB brand is to reinforce Nike models so they can withstand skating on. Skating destroys shoes, especially in the toe box and the heel area. I don't understand why they chose the Jordan 4 to convert to a SB because its an awful shoe to skate on. The lace cages are going to snap after your first few kick flips plus skating in high tops suck. I used to skate a pair of Jordan 6 Lows wayyy back in the day and the toe rubber immediately delaminated from the rest of the shoe after skating. I never bought another pair of Jordans since then but was excited to see these gaining popularity.
They did reinforce the 4 SB to withstand skating.. there were quite a few changes made actually. They may seem subtle but they’re definitely there. The toe box and heel were adjusted to cater to skaters. Even the tongue is thicker/more padded. The lace cages on these, unlike other 4s, are a pretty durable, flexible rubber that I don’t see just snapping off anytime soon. I mean if it’s not your thing it’s not your thing. I think it’s an amazing collab. 4s are my favorite silhouette so I have quite a few to compare the AJ4 SBs to and they felt completely different than the og 4s on the feet! I could tell right away why the 4 SB is gona b a hit with skaters. I literally put a standard 4 on one foot and the 4 SB on the other, same size. The difference actually surprised me.. I didn’t think theyd be much diff than the regular 4s either. But they are. Oh, and these are not high tops, they’re mids.
