I always bring a good book to read, it’s really the only time I can get a few hours with zero distractions, you can get totally absorbed and the time flies by.
We vote for Jo to come camping at the weekend. Wrap up warm its great outdoors. Plus you will have something else to do when hunkering down for 14 hours.

Going out to camp in -10°C in the dead of winter in the north of Norway isn't really that compelling for a first-timer. 😅

I definitely want Jo to come camping. Especially if it's really, really cold.
Last time i was camping I listened to Hunt for the Red October on audible in the tent. It was dark, the wind was blowing the tent and in a confined space made for a great atmosphere!!
Great video. When I go wild camping, once it's dark, I sit in the tent listening to podcasts or reading a book.
I liked this "behind the scenes" video. I'm still amazed at the high quality content you produce yourself from standard consumer equipment and whatever inspiration you happen to come across.
When I'm in the temt, during darkness, I get my sketch book out, and do some sketching for a current project.
Read a book, listen to music, a swig of brandy and smoke a cigar! That's how I relax, whether it's on a beach, in the garden or on top of a mountain! Highly recommend!

I’ve not been camping since September. I’m itching to get out but I just can’t do the long hours of darkness so full respect for doing up to 16 hours.

Sometimes I bring a Celeston Travel Scope if there's a chance that it's not cloudy and do a bit of astronomy. It's surprising how much better it works away from city lights.
Absolutely brilliant, Paul! One of your best and much needed to see 'some' of what someone else gets up to in the long wee hours. Too cold to do anything else without company. Ha! 🤣 Jo, get up there this weekend and get your feet on a mini hot water bottle and a toddy drop of the warm stuff. They're invaluable. You're both stars! Great vid as usual. Spending 16 hours in a tent isn’t as glamorous as some people think! I always make sure my radio is fully charged before I go anywhere, it’s amazing how many hours you can kill with a bit of music (or footy)
Before you mentioned about the quitting work stuff, I was only thinking that you look so much happier since you went full time on TH-cam, having the freedom to get out when you want and also make more content must be amazing, glad to see it's all working out for you mate, brilliant video aswell 👌
Next time when you need a good war film to fill in the time, A Bridge to Far or The Longest Day will take up a good few hours of your time. Both great films which you probably watched many times but you never get tired watching.

Sometimes when I'm in the tent it's goid just to switch off from looking at the phone.
Do that enough at home and during the day.

During the dark time of the year I like to make a real camp fire to sit by. Other than that I like to read books and sleep when tenting. Love being snug in a tent when its cold and windy outside!
After a chaotic day in work these videos are my well-being mindset. I feel like I’m chilling in the tent with Paul! Keep ‘em coming mate 👍

What I used to do was I had a Gameboy advance SP with a connectable controller. Just some cheap chinese tat, but it meant I could keep my hands in the sleeping bag while playing the GBA.
In the past I have used the winter camping time to learn to complete the Rubik’s cube and I am now a puzzle addict.

I love winter and wintercamping, love the snow, the cold and it is so calm outside. Only reason I dont go out solo often is because of the evening in your tent alone.

Get her out there.. Even if it is in the van. My wife goes camping with me all of the time. Beit trailer camping or hammock camping. She's a trooper..
I think I would download a film to watch so if the signal was bad I could still watch something. Then maybe read/ listen to a book or podcast. Even though it's an escape you can still enjoy some home comforts.
I grew up camping, just getting into a tent even in back garden I instantly relax, spot of rain even better, I think subconsciously I regress back to being a kid.
I vote that Jo does what she wants to do.

Poor Jo - you need one of those head to toe puffy suits, like Maggie Simpson lol. I listen to the radio and read through my book list. Any suggestions welcome, mostly real life survivor stories from WWII or something from the classics - Hardy, Collins, Dickens, even Lovecraft!

You could set up IFTTT so when you post to say instagram it can then send the same thing to twitter, Facebook etc without you having to post many times.
You can also have it do it so if you post a public video on TH-cam it can then post to Facebook, twitter, blog etc and one fowl swoop and not get different times and post descriptions etc. very handy and all done in the cloud for free (up to 5 applets).
I use it to post TH-cam to Facebook and twitter and another to post from instagram to Facebook

Top tip: If your favourite football team is playing in the final but you feel the need to eat a pot of slop and climb a mountain simply get your wife to carry a 4K telly in her rucksack and as everything in the outdoors is better if it has a dual purpose, in the night when you get cold........

Exactly what I do when in the tent,
It’s still too long and boring though,
That’s why, I tend to only camp in the winter if it’s dry,so at least you can have a wonder and look around at the stars etc,
