Wallowa Mountains Matterhorn Summit

Weekend backpacking trip up to Ice Lake and Matterhorn Peak in the Wallowa Mountains/Eagle Cap Wilderness. Matterhorn Peak is adjacent to Sacajawea Peak, the highest peak in the mountain range, and is the same elevation. It's the most topographically isolated peak in Oregon, and 2nd most prominent behind Mt. Hood.
We departed the trailhead at Wallowa lake at 8:30 am, got to Ice Lake at 2:30 pm, made camp, summited at 5:30 pm, back to camp by 7:00 pm for dinner. 24mi, 5100ft elevation gain total. The whole trip is day hikable with excellent fitness and a light pack. 9/7/19-9/8/19

2019, my son (who lives in Enterprise) and I hiked/climbed Sawtooth.
Matterhorn, is our next climb. If I can get back out there. LOL.
