I want to create a frame of something and then place that element into a larger design. Many of the videos that I've watched to do this end up with a big square image with the frame showing through. I only want the individual repositionable frame that I can use with other elements to create my design. When the design is complete, I want to download the entire thing with a transparent background. Does that help?
@@houseful4him I'm still not getting you, but it could be a nomenclature thing. A Canva "frame" is basically a shape you fill with something. All the frames I show how to make have a transparent background (ie a "B" would just be the shape of the "B", the holes in the B, as well as the space behind it, would be transparent, not a solid square) and the inside of the frame/shape can be filled with something. Are you saying instead you want the "B" to be transparent like a matte and the space around it to be solid?
Thank you so much for this video, I used it with Adobe Illustrator and it worked perfect. I've tried following some other videos and didn't have any luck, but you explained things perfectly.
That’s great! I use a little different technique in illustrator, but they are very similar. There’s a few more things that can be done in illustrator too, I just don’t have a tutorial on it because my channel’s focus is free and “low cost” software.
Thank you so much!! You explain everything thoroughly I figured out how to do a different image for each letter thanks to your video!!! It took me all day trying and when I came across your video I was done soon after seeing your video!!!!!!!!
Hi Bradley, how would you create an object that has mutiple frames inside of it. For example the number 7 with 7 photos frames inside or a picture of a dog which you can split into mutiple frames to fill with photo of your pet. I’m totally lost with how to go about this. Really appreciate your work!
I understand what you’re saying and I could do this with another app (like Adobe illustrator), not entirely sure how/if it can be done with this app… basically what you want to do is create a ‘puzzle’ and each piece is a different frame fillable with a photo- when combined together they make a dog, or 7 or whatever the whole shape would be.
They used to be called “Gravit Designer”, I guess Corel just purchased them. It’s an easy app to use for the purposes of making custom frames, no Adobe learning curve- be on the lookout for my next video on making a custom frame from ‘any’ vector graphic…
Hey there, HELP PLEASE🙏 I bought a glitter font that says I can change to any color which I don't know how to do but my queation is how do you cange a Glitter font to a drag and drop alaphabet frame in Canva so I can add whatever background Iwant to use in Canva?
Not sure what the glitter font is… is it a Canva native font or TrueType, etc? If you are able to use/type with the font in the app in this tutorial you should be able to make it a frame using the directions.
@BradleyTeaches Thank you for getting back with me so quickly😊 It is a glitter font I bought off of Etsy. The woman got back with me how to change the colors so I guess my question now is how can I make a drag & drop out of each letter would you know how to do that?
Is it an actual font you can type with or do you have to “build” words? The letters have to be frames in order to fill with video, colors, etc. If you have Adobe Illustrator I’m working on a short course on making frames out of “anything” with some of the e built in functions of illustrator.
Subscribed! Hey, can you explain something to me? I'm probably overthinking this. I totally understand how to create the Canva frames, using your method and other methods. My question is, how do you add stuff onto the frame or keep some things original and not included in the frame. For example let's use this easy one. Say, I want to make a frame out of sunglasses, but I want the frame to ONLY be on the lens part and the "sunglasses frame" stays original like it was black or tortoise shell or whatever color it was. There are also things like say making an open notebook out of a frame and how would you keep the middle wire spiral on a spiral notebook remain original and just make the pages on the notebook into a frame? It's probably easy and right in front of my face but I cannot find any answer to this question about Canva Frames. Thanks so much!
+Wynter Wynter thanks for the sub! For what you’re describing, here’s what I would do… instead of filling the portion of the item w/ a jpg (that will make it custom fillable in canva), just fill it with a color. When the frame is opened in canva the color-filled portion will not be editable but the jpg portion will.
But my question is - how do you make a phrase as ONE frame? I want to do something like "Don't Give Up" as a whole frame. Not individual letters or words. Any ideas?
Fill all the letters with one big image, that will make the word(s) a single frame. You could also fill each letter frame with the same image in canva then align them to make it seem like one fluid image (I did this in my video-filled letters tutorial)
All frames have a transparent background- if I’m understanding what you’re saying, you just have to make sure the “page” you place it on is transparent and export it properly. If you just want a frame and have the inner portion transparent that’s possible too. Give me more details if I haven’t answered your question.
The app seems to be exclusively paid right now. The steps should still work, but the app is no longer free. I have another video about using Apple keynote to make frames, and looking for another web based-free option to make a video for.

Great info! I started with Corel Draw back in the day. Will have to give Vector a try!

Subscribed! Is there a way to make a frame from just an svg we created or does it have to be the EPS?
I haven’t tried the process myself with an svg but I haven’t heard of anyone being successful using them. I’ll try it out.

The process is the same as in the video, you’ll just have to fill each letter with a separate jpg.
