SMAK visits Sweden-based artists who all in a personal way represent a strong music and storytelling tradition deeply rooted in a place or in a folk culture in different parts of the world.
Ulrika Bodén is an expressive and versatile musician who is considered one of the foremost folk singers in the country. With her clear and powerful voice, she is hired as a soloist and with the projects she runs herself, both in Sweden and abroad. Ulrika has her roots in Helgum in Ångermanland and the old songs from her home area have a special place in her heart. Ulrika also writes her own music and lyrics, plays flutes, autoharp and dulcimer.
In this act, Ulrika Bodén will meet singer Rostam Mirlashari, percussionist Liliana Zavala and dancer Ulrika Larsen.

In una terra sconfinata dell'Asia meridionale _- tra Iran, Afganistan e Pakistan _- chiamata -*-Belucistan-*- perché abitato dal popolo dei -*-Beluci-*- - -_-che in sanscrito significa -_*_-popolo forte alto e magnifico-_* provenienti da Aleppo in Siria e discendenti di *Ameer Hamza*, zio del profeta islamico Maometto, dal 1.000 a.c. *c'è una donna che si chiama Laila come da noi Maria si chiama Maria*
I Beluci _(o Balochi)_ erano un popolo costituito da tribù nomadi diverse ma con un unica lingua, cultura e religione.
Abili negli accordi con i popoli sedentari che occupavano quei territori.
Diciamo che erano flessibili.
Ma *Laila* era un'altra cosa, indiscutibile, intrattabile, senza parole da aggiungere dopo che si era detto *"_Laila..._"* i puntini sospensivi duravano il tempo di un viaggio andata e ritorno dalla città pakistana di *Quetta* a quella iraniana di *Zahedan*, solo dire il nome *Laila* era un turbamento, un esame di coscienza, una meditazione, un sogno di avventure e di incontri in mondi infiniti. Lo stupore di quel nome declamato in alcuni casi, evocato in altri, pregato o scappato di bocca in altri ancora come un lapsus portava ai Beloci la *meraviglia mistica* perché *Laila* non era più un ricordo, un immagine ma un suono dopo mille anni, una parola pronunciata, al punto che ne fecero un canto *Laila O Laila*
*Rostam Mirlashari* era un ingegnere civile balochi iraniano che lavorava in Svezia con grande successo professionale _- direttore di un'impresa di costruzioni a Minab -_ ma un giorno i suoi genitori *Shah Soltan Shiranzaei* e *Hossein Mirlashari* entrambi cantanti gli parlarono chiaro:
_"Rostam, parliamoci chiaro la Svezia, sia peninsulare che isole, non ha bisogno di palazzi e costruzioni."_
E Rostam: _"Non ha bisogno?"_
_"Nossignore!"_ confermó Hossein scuotendo il capo
_"E allora? Che faccio ora? Mi sono fatto una posizione, tutti mi conoscono, do pareri ai Ministri della Corona per il miglioramento strutturale dei nuovi edifici pubblici svedesi ma anche ai vicini di casa che hanno problemi di umidità alle cantine... e voi mi spiazzate, mi date insicurezze..."_ e non trovó più parole, cadde muto in un silenzio che non era amletico ma di esistenzialità fastidiosa.
Allora la mamma Shah Soltan _(le mamme sanno parlare con i figli)_ gli pose la mano sui lunghi capelli, lo strinse al petto e poggiandogli il mento sul capo gli sussurrò all'orecchio _"Rostam, tu é cantá!"_
_"Mamma e che canto?"_ chiese come il punto sconsolato che aspetta la linea per diventare esclamativo e la mamma, che sapeva cantare e conosceva la grammatica, rispose _"Laila O Laila, la tua tradizione"_
Mirlashari _- come Max Berru, Jorge Coulón Larrañaga, Horacio Salinas e gli altri ingegneri che divennero gli Inti-Illimani -_ diventa musicista e da una interpretazione sofisticata di _"Laila o Laila"_ con introduzione di strumenti diversi dalla tradizione balochi, a volte si sentono suoni celtici.
Rostam viene indicato come *"il principe della musica Balochi"* e conosciuto in tutto il mondo, Svezia peninsulare ed isole comprese, viene ammesso al *Royal College of Music di Stoccolma* ed oggi é considerato un membro sia della cultura svedese che della cultura balouch.
*Ma Laila?*
*Laila*, va via, lascia il suo amato per un anno, non dice dove va, che fa, non dice perché e non da spiegazioni perché non le vuole dare é un suo diritto, e poi ritorna e quando ritorna Lui sta là e la stava aspettando e ora sono duemila anni. Lui sta ancora lì, la rispetta e l'aspetta _"Arapete fenesta famm'affacciá a Marí"_, apriti finestra e fagli vedere Laila, che lui sta lì, sotto il balcone a Quetta, a Zahedan, a Caivano, ad Olginate.
