I love my 1960 built house that's on top of a hill that will never ever flood. Last summer we had 9 storms over 8 days and 700mm in total and no flooding and yes we couldn't drive anywhere for a few days and that's okay with me.
It must appear more dramatic than it really is...because we must start believing it's a "climate catastrophy"... hence the heavy duty policeman with all those fancy medals...
Why do we keep ending up in this situation where they're spilling the dams DURING times of heavy rain?! The whole point of the dams is to hold that water during times of heavy rain to save us from flooding.
Dams are not built to prevent flooding, but retaining water for general use. If you don't do spill offs the dam can over spill causing unpredictable damage, or also compromise the dam. Leading to greater flooding.
NOT a "flash Flood". Just flooding.

The dam is not anywhere near full at about 36% of its capacity.
It can hold more then double it’s current level and then some.
