This is nothing more than a political provocation. Greek reaction was 100% accurate. It is also a tool for distracting the turkish people off of the real problems that Turkey faces as a country.

If you want to see provocation, you can look directly at Greece, Cyprus and Europe. Find out how many mosques they have destroyed in Greece, changed for bars or hotels. You can investigate the south cyprus attacks on mosques, throwing a Molotov and writing insulting articles on the mosque wall. and 329 mosques in 18 countries were converted into churches in various parts of europe. Accurate? you are either blind or uninformed.

Case of Cathedral of Cordoba can't be related to that of Hagia Sophia.
Hagia Sophia was first built as a Cathedral and remained thus for 1000years. It was converted into a mosque.
Cathedral of Cordoda was converted from a mosque which had been built over a Visgothic Church that had already existed.

Attention: it was moved from Being a mosque to a museum in 1934 by Ataturk without any constitutional right. Now, the Turkish constitutional and judicial authorities approved that the decision on 1934 was null. Not happy with that yet? then return all the mosques In Europe which are turned into churches or clubs specially in Spain and Greece. "It was concluded that the settlement deed allocated it as a mosque and its use outside this character is not possible legally," Turkey's top administrative court said in the ruling.
"The cabinet decision in 1934 that ended its use as a mosque and defined it as a museum did not comply with laws," it said.
It should be noted that it is a personal property of the Sultan Mehmet II, Sultan's offer was accepted by the relavent authorities (Church trustees). The deeds confirming this is still available in the Turkish archives in Ankara. He purchased the Hagia Sophia from the relevant trustees, Concluded a settlement deed and then allocated it for a mosque as Waqf (endowment to public and charitable causes). UNESCO or anyone who wants to make it as a permanent museum of the UNESCO world heritage sites, then they should buy it from the relevant authority; Put your money where your mouth is!
It was open for all, it will remain open for all public and for all charitable causes and it is a mosque, according to the original deeds and the man who purchased it.
The problem was created by their (Turkish) Mustafa Kemal Pasha. He turned it into a museum to make money out of people's religious feelings by selling tickets. Ticket price to enter Hagia Sophia ranges from minimum of $30 USD to a maximum of $370 USD (depanding on the season) per person. It maintained the highest museum ticket prices in the country. Good news is from 24-July-2020 and onwards free entry (free of charge) for all.
Btw, for those who are questioning Turkish judicial systems: Turkish governance, administration and legal system, originated and developed over the time based on their own merit, they were never colonized, never ruled by any foreign power. So the Turkish judicial system is one of the oldest on the planet as we can trace its history back from the 12th century, maintaining the strong heritage and rock-solid legacies. Unlike, our Indian subcontinents were conquered, colonized and ruled by a company (The British East India Company), not even by a state, let alone facing an empire.
Therefore, the legal dispute/conflict is only relating to the use of the place/building as a "Turkish mosque" or as "museum of a Turkish Mosque", meaning "Turkish museum" Vs. "Turkish Mosque", so the dispute is not relating to "church" Vs. "mosque".

The purchase of the Aghia Sophia Church is not true. The church was part of the conquest of Constantinople, and was therefore Ottoman by conquest not purchase. It was then turned into a mosque. Did Mehmet get permission from the so called "trustees" to also loot it for three days as was the tradition in those times?

After completing their task of destruction, of assisting in the deaths of moribund civilizations and scattering their remains, THEY RETURN TO THEIR PREVIOUS INSIGNIFICANCE AND DISAPPEAR. Greeks know the Turks very well, during Ottoman times, they built a Mosque on the Acropolis of Athens, inside Parthenon. Luckily after Greek Independence, it was removed from the Holy Rock. Places should revert back to either their original status or to museum status. Noone in the west, in the year 2020, can understand how a country like Turkey (NATO member) can take such a decision which only reminds everyone the middle ages. Reverting anything to anything hundreds of years ago, is no excuse for what Erdogan did TODAY. It seems that for Turks, being secular mattered during the last 84 years, do they now spit on the face of Kemal ? For what this is worth, I think Erdogan is taking Turkey to a hard path, no good future can come to a country with such strong nationalistic agenda.
