Badeni seems to be inspired by Nicolaus Copernicus, a Polish astronomer and clergyman (Similar to a priest) who brought the heliocentric theory into mainstream during the Renaissance. FUN FACT: The Big Bang Theory was also formulated by a priest named Georges Lemaitre.
Yeah because the Geocentric model was fundamentally incorrect they could never complete it as a model of the universe. So for years they kept on refining calculations and it got more and more convoluted. And what made it difficult to prove Heliocentrism is that it was in its infancy and still not perfect while Geocentrism had hundreds of years of research behind it making it look better than it was.

In 560 CE we have a bishop likening the Earth to a wheel for example. It's only much later that the spherical model makes a comeback and of course the age of discovery proves definitely that Earth is a globe. I always hated that story, it's such a backwards a$$ moral to put right at the start of the Bible. It reeks of something people in power made up to keep lowborn peasants in line. Don't be curious, don't strive for knowledge, you're doomed for eternity if you do... Honestly you could legit re-tell that story in modern times with different names and slight changes so people don't recognize it, and people would say the snake is the hero of the story - bravely sacrificing himself to give knowledge to humanity at grave personal cost...there are in fact stories like that in other religions. Prometheus stealing fire to help humans and being punished for all eternity. We rightly recognize Prometheus nowadays as the real hero in that story...
If you ask me. Disobedience was the first sin. It was a sin to eat the fruit because Adam was instructed not to and the serpent deceived them them Though I logically understand why you would say it’s curiosity as the serpent said they would have the knowledge of God But the way I read the scene as “ hey Lee go break the law and you’ll have infinite knowledge”. I see that as disobedience, not curiosity

Knowledge is worth the consequences. Freedom to choose and the pursuit of knowledge are two of my most important core principles. I think it's okay to be disobedient. Blind obedience is not something I like in general, I think it's good to question things and let's be honest in the case of Adam and Eve, they did not yet know good from evil anyways, because the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is what allows them to know. So how could God punish them for something they literally did not have the ability to understand? Rather unfair if you ask me. No, the story makes a lot more sense if you substitute God for human authority figures. Obey the king, obey the ruler, the despot, the bishop, the pope. Don't question their authority, be obedient, know your place. Don't strive for more, for better, for knowledge beyond your station. Be content with the scraps that they give you. That's not how I'd ever want to live.
Why are you going after the Church but go after satanists and Christ said to love your wife as God loves the Church and the Bible is a flawless book because it is the Word of the True God and He is Perfect.
Even if you believe the Bible is perfect that doesn't mean the Church or other institutions are perfect. By definition they can't be because a) no one is perfect and everyone sins b) evil people tend to go for positions of power c) interpretations are subject to culture and personal biases If you believe in God, you should be able to question the Church because they are saying things in his name which is a huge responsibility. But that's just my take. I'm not even religious
