    Badeni seems to be inspired by Nicolaus Copernicus, a Polish astronomer and clergyman (Similar to a priest) who brought the heliocentric theory into mainstream during the Renaissance.
    FUN FACT: The Big Bang Theory was also formulated by a priest named Georges Lemaitre.

  • @Ash_Wen-li
    @Ash_Wen-li 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

    Yeah because the Geocentric model was fundamentally incorrect they could never complete it as a model of the universe. So for years they kept on refining calculations and it got more and more convoluted.
    And what made it difficult to prove Heliocentrism is that it was in its infancy and still not perfect while Geocentrism had hundreds of years of research behind it making it look better than it was.

    12:53 - They already know the Earth is round, they say this earlier in the show, but this is after the discovery of the Americas and also the knowledge that the Earth is round is really old, Ancient Greeks already knew they lived on a globe. At a certain point Christianity kinda made people forget this fact, flat Earth became a more commonly accepted version, but it was then proven false yet again.

    • @TslikTheMassacre

      @@davidbodor1762 flat earth has nothing to do with Christianity, the bible speaks of firmaments, separation of waters from waters, creation.

      @@TslikTheMassacre I agree that the religion itself is not Flat Earther by default, but you cannot deny that there are people who interpret it that way.
      There is a link to the early Christian period and flat Earth beliefs too.
      In 500 BCE and 300 BCE we have concrete proof that the Greeks believed the Spherical model, and they popularized it all across the Mediterranean, then later on we have documents from around 300 CE of Spherical models, however in 400 CE we have evidence of bishops espousing a flat Earth model. When the Western Roman Empire falls, a lot of ancient knowledge is lost, and knowledge of Earth being spherical is one such casualty. In 560 CE we have a bishop likening the Earth to a wheel for example.
      It's only much later that the spherical model makes a comeback and of course the age of discovery proves definitely that Earth is a globe.
      It's also worth noting that modern flat Earthers also tend to also root their beliefs in the Bible. A majority of flat Earthers nowadays use it as 'proof' of their beliefs, so there's a connection there too. Whether you agree with their interpretation or not, you cannot deny that there's people who view it that way.

      @@davidbodor1762 I see what you mean, not my problem a bunch of white boys think the world is flat, the people of the land (people of colour) for more than 5000 years ago, the early Egyptians set sail through the atlantic and pacific ocean moving from the north to the south, and observed that the sun passed over them, thus, they came to the conclusionthe world is round, this can be found in early Egyptian tablet artifacts found a few years ago, the true conspire is the early Catholic church, they couldn't read scripture properly (bible) & made up false doctrines, trying to keep control over the peope, burning them on the stake, looking back now the early church was bat shit crazy.

    Curiosity got Adam and Eve expelled from Eden. Curiosity also tempts sin, like a gateway drug. I'm not versed enough in the Bible to pull a story, but I wouldn't say it's not out of the realm of possibility

    Regarding one potential example of curiosity being a sin in the Bible that comes to mind off the top of my head could be the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. God destroyed the two cities for their wickedness, but beforehand he warned one righteous man and his family to flee and told them not to look back. They fled, but the wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.

    5:15 - Curiosity is quite literally the first sin Adam&Eve commit, eating from the fruit of the tree of knowledge over good and evil.
    I always hated that story, it's such a backwards a$$ moral to put right at the start of the Bible. It reeks of something people in power made up to keep lowborn peasants in line. Don't be curious, don't strive for knowledge, you're doomed for eternity if you do...
    Honestly you could legit re-tell that story in modern times with different names and slight changes so people don't recognize it, and people would say the snake is the hero of the story - bravely sacrificing himself to give knowledge to humanity at grave personal cost...there are in fact stories like that in other religions. Prometheus stealing fire to help humans and being punished for all eternity. We rightly recognize Prometheus nowadays as the real hero in that story...

    • @YaBoyRockLee
      @YaBoyRockLee  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you ask me.
      Disobedience was the first sin.
      It was a sin to eat the fruit because Adam was instructed not to and the serpent deceived them them
      Though I logically understand why you would say it’s curiosity as the serpent said they would have the knowledge of God
      But the way I read the scene as “ hey Lee go break the law and you’ll have infinite knowledge”. I see that as disobedience, not curiosity

    • @davidbodor1762

      @@YaBoyRockLee Badeni knows opening the book for even a second would cost him his eyes, and yet he opens the book anyways, just to have that tiny bit of knowledge.
      I like to think that if I were in the same situation as Adam or Eve, that I would eat that fruit willingly, whether or not I know the consequences, it doesn't matter. Knowledge is worth the consequences.
      Freedom to choose and the pursuit of knowledge are two of my most important core principles. I think it's okay to be disobedient. Blind obedience is not something I like in general, I think it's good to question things and let's be honest in the case of Adam and Eve, they did not yet know good from evil anyways, because the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is what allows them to know. So how could God punish them for something they literally did not have the ability to understand? Rather unfair if you ask me.
      No, the story makes a lot more sense if you substitute God for human authority figures. Obey the king, obey the ruler, the despot, the bishop, the pope. Don't question their authority, be obedient, know your place. Don't strive for more, for better, for knowledge beyond your station. Be content with the scraps that they give you.
      That's not how I'd ever want to live.

      Even if you believe the Bible is perfect that doesn't mean the Church or other institutions are perfect. By definition they can't be because
      a) no one is perfect and everyone sins
      b) evil people tend to go for positions of power
      c) interpretations are subject to culture and personal biases
      If you believe in God, you should be able to question the Church because they are saying things in his name which is a huge responsibility.
      But that's just my take. I'm not even religious
