Sesko will be a find but I’ll be surprised if Slovenia are as exciting as their version of the Kaiser Chiefs Joker Out were in Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool - and even then they had a pretty tepid result. 3rd place in group and last 16 loss is likelier for Slovenia.
That slovenia prediction is terrible. Not even the fact you’ve predicted them to top the group, the fact you think they’ll score 10 goals, which would be the record for the most goals in a single group stage ever in the Euros. I mostly agree with your predictions. My differences are: Serbia bottom of the group; Slovenia not as well as you say they will, but still a positive surprise with a possibility of going through; Ukraine top of the group; Netherlands above Austria

To be fair, most Scottish people would agree with Irish Guy, the Euros have come a year too late for us. I'm going to Germany and I think we'll lose every game. Also, as must as it pains me to admit it I do think that England will do it. I take the point Southgate isn't an elite manager but he's not terrible. Most importantly their squad is just too good, Jude Bellingham alone pretty much guarantees a semi final.

I am slovenian and I am cery hyped to go watch this tournament in person. Its been 14 years since we last qualified for something so most people just put us 4th or 3rd in the group so its refreshing to see someone belive in us. That said that prediction is very very optimistic, I would be happy just to se the boys fight and give it their all whatever happens. Plus the match against england is on our national holiday, it will be 33 years since we declared independance so im very excited and hoping for a miracle on that day.

When will people stop sleeping on Croatia. They have plenty exiting young talent like Gvardiol, Stanišić, Baturina, Ivanušec, Sučić, Labrović, and Šutalo. Other than Modrić, Brozović, and Perišić the whole squad is in their prime years. And some experience is important. Modrić is not washed, just watch the influence when he gets subbed on for Madrid. He is well rested as well. People say Croatia lack a striker. Budimir is the fifth top LaLiga scorer for Osasuna, Kramarić puts up crazy stats for Hoffenheim (hat trick vs Bayern too), and Petković is a big game player. Zlatko Dalić manages to execute a brilliant possession style and is super consistent.

Albania did really well in the qualifiers. I know that our group was absolute shit with underperforming Czechs, us Poles being a disgrace under Santos, Moldova who deserved the Euros far more than we do and Faroe Islands, but still they finished top - I predict 0 points for them but I'm pretty sure they'll cause trouble for all their opponents. They're a proper team, greater-than-sum-of-its-parts with a strong character and fanatic supporters. They'll come back home defeated but still they'll do fine!

That would be an interesting rematch from our earlier friendly and I think we might just see that, too.
I maybe the only person outside of the most fanatical English fans to say this but I think England are the odds on favorites not just for the Euros but the World Cup, too. Southgate may have his critics but I’m not among them. Supporters often forget the element of luck in football and that’s about the only thing keeping this England squad from being it home. Since 2018 this setup has been knocking on the door and it’s not like they’ve been driving in group stages of flopping in the knockouts either.
The Kane prediction maybe a bridge too far but I think Harry will finally show up pissed and put critics and curses to bed by absolutely scoring buckets this Euro and in 2026.
As for Brazil, Dorival has a good setup but I think everyone over here questions his ability to bring out the best out of this setup. And while Vini Jr and co. could walk up to Copa América and World Cup and absolutely shred defenses all the way to winning both, England and France are really strong right now and that’s not to mention everyone else developing well at the moment like the Spanish setup, Germany, etc. People have written off Belgian, Croatia, but they could upset anyone.

But despite that, I'm with you. I'm very much pro-Southgate. Didn't start out that way, but have been fully on board since the 2018 World Cup. And yes, luck and probability. Like I saw some Opta stats which have England as very slight favourites over France to win the tournament. Strange to see England regarded as favourites. But our predicted probability to win it as the most likely team to do so is still only 19.9%. 1 in 5. You could have a team that was clearly significantly better than everyone else and I bet their chance of winning would only be like 40% or something. Still more likely to not win it than win it. We've seen this kind of thing in the past with some awesome national teams that never won anything. I'd be overjoyed if we win it, but I'll basically be happy if we just go out and play as well and as hard as we can. Last World Cup is a good example, we ripped through the early rounds and went out to France in the quarters. I actually think we played great and were the better team on the day, but it just didn't go our way. I could be proud of my national team.
Vinicius was the difference in that friendly. Absolutely majestic player. You're very lucky to have him, I think he's the best in the World in his position, and I'm certainly glad there's only one of him and he's not going to be at Euro 2024. Belgium and Croatia, Belgium have really revamped their squad, so I don't know what to expect from them. Croatia, I have a healthy respect for. Over the years I've regarded them as our closest rival in terms of ability, and we've traded a lot of wins and have a pretty equal record against each other over that span. They've won a lot of matches in extra time or penalties, often one game after another and I have so much respect for that ability. When the going gets tough, Croatia always seem to come out on top. There's lots of teams which could win this tournament and it either wouldn't be a surprise, or no more than a mild upset. And a large number of the teams here are capable of beating anyone on any given day. Like if you look at the teams and think if they played one of the top teams, 3, 4, 5 times, do you think they wouldn't win at least once? As for the winner of this tournament, it surprises me how little Spain seem to enter the conversation. They literally won the last competition between all the European sides, the Nations League, and looked good doing it.
@@Lorric101not at all, losing a friendly ahead of a major tournament means very little. The players are mostly exhausted after a long and competitive season, that was not a game to get out there and play for it all but rather an opportunity for them to gel. We played a largely mixed squad against Mexico and nearly saw them come back to win it all and while I can say here in the Americas there are no friendlies between us Latin nations, rivalries have largely cooled, so without anything to play for ahead of a major tournament, no one is writing off nobody. The Colombia massacre of the USA is about the only game that speaks volumes for not only the major tournament ahead but for their World Cup aspirations still to come with Colombia riding a what, 20-games without a loss and having beaten us in qualifying to boost.
Croatia beat Spain, and just like no one is counting on Spain to win the Euros, nobody is making a fuzz of Croatia either, largely writing them off due to an aging squad but truth be told, both sides could easily upset the competition and capture the W come July and win it all. The thing about England in my opinion is threefold:
One, Southgate has become supremely experienced after all these years and major cycles ahead of rhetorical team. He won’t be sweating anymore but rather making other managers sweat decisions. Everyone is still human, and while I don’t put mistakes above Gareth, he is the best manager outside the German camp present.
Two, the non-City players have EVERYTHING to play for since City’s dominion has left everyone of the them starved for major silverware, so what’s best then literally bringing football home? Specially for the Arsenal lads who will be itching to one up their City compatriots and win it all for England. Oh, and Bellingham has this for his last shot at securing the Ballon D’Or. if Jude destroys the Euros being top scorer or second/third top scorer while being the chief assistant to Harry Kane, Folden and company, he will have effectively become the candidate not only for the Ballon D’Or but enter the conversation for English GOAT and the lad has only time to grow ahead of him.
Third, the summation of the previous, too. Southgate doesn’t have much to do here other than keeping the guys happy, motivations aren’t lacking at all. The side has been knocking on the door for a long time now and a win here would catapult England’s aspirations for the 2026 World Cup over dreaded rivals like Germany and France.
@@athosgomesfonseca I do think it's put some pressure on. I'll forget all about it if we put in a good performance against Serbia, but the manner of the defeat makes me nervous, even if I can rationalise it with things like you said. Still fully behind Southgate and the team, I wouldn't want to take action against a manager over friendly performances, except perhaps if we were doing badly in them over a long time and they were all we had to go on because we were hosting a tournament. I'm sure I'll be feeling positive again by the time the match rolls around.
So about Southgate, I'm curious why you rate him so highly as an outsider looking in. I can tell you why I like him myself if you want, but I'd prefer to hear from you first without me saying anything.

Fair enough then i do disagree with a few i might say. Group F Turkey will come 2nd here, Group E Belgium will top there group. Turkey have Ardo Suler in the ranks, just won the champions league. Belgiums group not much of a fuss, KDB's last euros by the look of things. Still too strong for the rest teams.
@@beefbully4416 Belgium may have one of the best midfielders in the Premier League (if not, the world) in Kevin De Bruyne (as well as Romelu Lukaku and Jeremy Doku) but it doesn't change the fact that Belgium doesn't have Thibaut Courtois in their ranks. Their defence is either well past their prime (Vertonghen, Witsel and Meunier) or lack international experience (Theate, Faes, Debast and De Cuyper). Therefore, I reckon Ukraine will seize the opportunity and finish top of Group E (since I predict that Ukraine will beat both Romania and Slovakia). I reckon Ukraine may come out on top with a tense 1-0 win over Belgium in the last match of Group E.
As for Turkey, yes they have Champions League winner Arda Guler and Hakan Calhanoglu of Inter Milan in their ranks, and a somewhat, slighly better squad than the Czech Republic, I reckon it'll be a tight battle for 2nd place with the Czech Republic. Czech Republic have Bundesliga invincible Patrik Schick who happened to be one of the top goalscorers in the last Euro's.
