    I would love to be able to create more in-depth high-production value doc videos like this, so if you enjoyed this you can support the production of future videos by becoming a patron at Patreon.com/NerdyAboutNature! All of that goes towards giving me the stability to continue researching, writing, producing and creating all this content, and to hire good folks to help me with it along the way. Cheers!

    Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this topic! Paper products are such an overlooked environmental issue because they're biodegradable and come from "renewable resources," but it's a huge issue. It would be extra awesome if you could do a deeper dive and cover single use paper products and shed some light on this subject in future videos. Keep up the awesome work 🤙

      Ahh thanks so much, I appreciate the input! It's definitely on the loooong list of topics I hope to cover someday, but its tough to find the time / resources!

    A very nice, polished video. (ad) I would like to see more in this style. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

      Thanks so much Mark! Yep, I would love to move in this direction to create more videos like this and do so without the (ad) component, but it's all a matter of funding, and it takes a lot to hire skilled folks to help out here. That's why I'm trying to focus on building my Patreon list because the more support I have there, the more opportunities to do more in-depth high production value videos like this there are!
      If you're not a supporter already, you can become one at patreon.com/nerdyaboutnature for 1$/mo or more, and it all goes into helping me create more content like this piece! 🙏

    Bamboo is the answer. It can be bought online. No stores carry it near us. That needs to change. Great video.

    Great video and love your way of explaining these important issues. However I do wish you mentioned bidets as an alternative solution! they are much cleaner and you use much less paper/dont really need paper. I wish it was a more common/widespread thing! Your butts will thanks you!

    Place to buy in Canada that is somewhat affordable? Looked it up and could only find it on amazon, $80 for a 24pack is crazy expensive.

    I salute you’ll for making such a meaningful video
    Believe it or not I’m trying to explain people to use less and less tissue and revert to the old way of using handkerchiefs and small towels instead of Bounties etc
    Which will actually make the earth l so much clean compared to our beautiful sky
    Thanks a lot as I don’t know if a way to reach out to people by such an educational documentary
    But the message remains
    Stop using tissue paper which is absolynot only a waste but a Waste in the environment

  • @Pottery4Life
    @Pottery4Life 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Additionally, although the pulp and paper industry has come along ways in the past 50+ years or so, the process of making pulp is not that environmentally friendly either.

    A solution has existed for decades. With a bidet, you don’t need any of this shit. No pun intended. Instead of producing alternatives with expensive marketing plans, just use what already exists and produces almost zero waste. Bidet.

    Don't try and put the blame on individual consumers. That's not the way. We live in a society of rules. We act collectively. If something is bad enough, it can be stopped through a political decision

    • @02lowry
      @02lowry ปีที่แล้ว

      He’s not putting the blame on the individual consumer. He explains things clearly and compartmentally so it’s easily understood. He begins with why tree based toilet paper is bad for the environment and unsustainable. Then explains how it all started and how we got here today. Then gives you an alternative CHOICE that you could use. If you chose to go with the sustainability, the tree based company will lose money. Of course one person doesn’t matter but that’s the point of the video, so more people are educated consumers. Don’t take it so personally. Be a student sometimes. Also, why wait till something is bad enough to make change? If you know it’s bad, why continue? Because it’s profitable, which is why politics will not save us. It’s people’s choices. And people make better choices when educated.
