Not anymore. This documentary is from 2010, Cédric Villani hasn't made any significant contribution to mathematics since 2014 (you can check his arXiv records). He became an opportunistic politician instead.

Il s'aime bien ce Villani. Il se met en scène avec complaisance. Quel dommage qu'il ait été saisi par le démon de la politique. Les mathématiques y ont certainement perdu un de ses représentants les plus brillants. Qu'y a gagné la politique ?? On peut se poser la question.

This documentary is creepy. Villani traveled to India alone to collect his Fields Medal, without any family or friends to support him. After reading his book "Birth of a Theorem", you find out that he was the exception in not bringing his wife and children to the most important award of his professional career (all the other Fields medal winners of that year brought their families along). There's something dishonest about his decision, he seems like a narcissist.
