All modern music and mixes seems to lack breathing room in the dynamics. I love classic music like this because it still breathes.
How fresh and enjoable is still this music after 40 years...
God I love the 70s I was born in 1973 I wish the world just stayed in this decade
LMAO THAT FACE YOU MAKE WHEN THE NIGHT IS RIGHT
what a lineup of great musicians and George Benson for the win.
The guitar playing/solo is phenomenal

Un fabuleux musicien qu es liston Smith un très bel album
Tu parles pas du même type …. Lonnie liston smith est un autre musicien 😊
for those that want to know, this is a compilation
A far, far better album than the previous Funk Reaction, mainly because Lonnie puts disco behind him (as we all did in 1980!) and returns to the fusion sound he did and still does, very well. Nice.
+John Clark
Hey man, why are you killing disco? I love some of the disco arrangements out there. I was a kid in the 70's, but I grew up listening to a wide range of music.
At any rate, I dig "Funk Reaction", and this track too.
LOL!
+John Clark
Patrice Rushen was a bad one too! She transitioned from jazz into disco real easy.
but that's a baaaaad gal.
Ha Ha Ha!!!
Most of These tracks were recorded in the mid 70's before his 'Funk Reaction' album. Cheers!
+Jay Mac Disco is cool but when blended with jazz it tends to be iffy. I still dig jazz disco just ask me idris muhammad's disco era was excellent.
I had to drive to Colorado and this album was still playing so I made a stop and drove back to the groove ++
this a hard album cover
why am I discovering this just now. Damn
Sho You Right!!! Groove Me
need a 10h version of this beautiful track
I use to travel with Lonnie around Buffalo with him and his friends, Boo and Son on their gigs. If you catch this Lonnie, its Wesley.
beautiful, thank you.

Much Gratitude
So enjoying this, #gratitude
I love George Benson's solo on "Impressions". He was capable of burning even after his move to a more commercial type of jazz.
I love this.
سپاس از وجود تو لونی جان

The tenor sax on "Impressions" is amazing
Grande classe exellent

The first music is a sample of the music ‘Odara’ from Caetano Veloso, recorded in 1977.

When Sausalito white wine jazz meats a taste of funk. Crisp but not crispy 😋
I will go with the GTO 455 Pontiac
Can someone PLEASE tell me what kind of music this is specifically and where I can find more of it????
jazz fusion for at least some of it; Terminal Passage has more of this sort of thing
you know its good music when all the comments are from years ago, because most people listen to SHIT nowadays
guys it's Dr. Lonnie Smith, not Lonnie Smith
AAA
Goddamn! what happened to music?
Used elements like these, and intergrated them into electronic samples, without the actual soul...I'm 25 saying this
I've heard this album for years. And I've noticed a possible detail, does anyone else who's heard "Layered Cake" from P5 notice that track might've borrowed some inspiration from "When the Night is Right"?
Osiris Risen pose.
Time has not been kind... snooze...
Great albums with Lonnie and G Benson, Rick Marotta etc .. Thanks again!! Peters
