I remember when I a kid of about 7 yrs old, I was turning the tv channels. A beautiful lady whom I never seen before was singing, as I was watching my mother came in the room and said, ooh Shirley Basset I sure do like her, and that's how came to know this power house of a voice, and entertainer. She still got it.
Watching her at the end just trying to get as many of her sisters and family into her arms as quickly as she could was just lovely ❤️ beautiful lady inside and out

Her eldest daughter Sharon was 30 when Samantha died in 1985 and said in a 1994 interview that Samantha was always a bit rebellious and hated that her mother travelled nonstop for her career. After Dame Shirley buried her daughter in 1985, she lost her voice at a concert in Australia and realized she had not properly grieved her daughter ; a voice coach she hired worked with her for the next 10 years after that to help Shirley recover and perform again. Shirley had been estranged from her adopted grand nephew Mark until the 1990s after he wrote a tell all book about how chaotic life was growing up with Shirley Bassey the entertainer...in the 1990s they reconciled.
