  • I had a an extremely rare opportunity to visit BBC TV Centre in London a week after the last shows were transmitted and 3 days before it was closed. Shaun Moore gave me this fantastic opportunity and this is my "extremely amateur" tribute to the BBC TV Centre! I really wish I'd taken my Sony HVR-V1E now... but hey ho..just being there was OK for me. The iPhone 5 did OK-ish! Edited in Sony Vegas Pro 10.

Ah, fond memories of working at TVC from 1975 till 1992, I love this place so much as a child, Grange Hill, Fathers and Families, All Creatures Great and Small, To Serve The All My Days, Allo Allo, To A Manor Born, In Sickness and In Health, to name just a small number out of the many more shows I had the joy of working on here, with the best TV crews in the business quite a few changes since 1975, (I see the reception desk has moved it used to be a big long one along the wooden paneling on the right, with rows of seating facing it and a bank of TVs where a tiny desk is now, the car park at the front has changed to it was bigger in the 1970's, enjoyed the video, sad to see the place close

(2:01) As a child, around the age of 7 or 8 or so, I remember seeing my dad watching 'BBC World', and I would say 'BCB!'

Great memories! I went round once that fabulous building on a tour we went round it, and I saw that bit where thrme "Nice to see you, Nice" quote was as that was a cafe for the public. The orange reception area was a star reception.

It looks stupid now without the fencing and gates. And what’s happened to the cashiers office and that building? The section has disappeared as far as I can tell

It really did need a refurb but they should’ve have got rid of the forecourt. It looks ridiculous now in the paving, it’s still a road so don’t pretend it isn’t there. It looks so much nicer with the security area in place - and obviously more secure. It’s London. Stabbing central

All part of the greed and stupidity of the BBC. It was shame that the video poster did not film more of the 6th floor, the old N1/N2 news studios and offices. If you have them, please upload them for me.

To close this place down was the worst waste of resources that I can imagine.
It was beautiful and purpose built to be a studios and there are none better anywhere.
Some consultants all chimed in and promised money to the BBC to spend on their output if they built this and sold that.
It was all lies and no money went back into BBC coffers it cost them a fortune.
Some however made off like bandits and bought themselves ferraris and yachts.

What a dump that 1960s architecture is. Like a prison.
