  • The first clip, which starts with Helen Hayes lurking in a phone booth, illustrates just how many phone booths used to inhabit the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, where much of "Airport" was filmed. The second clip, while not as interesting, does invoke the split-screen telephone call, a visual I always found engaging. That's Maureen Stapleton on the right. I don't know who the travel agents on the left are.

I have always loved the split screens in this movie. Somehow it adds to the intimacy and seriousness of the moment.

Love this movie. The split screens allowed the audience to see both parties and all of the action at ONE time. Drama, action, realism, excitement, great actors and a star cast that puts today actors to shame!

I'm trying to figure out who the actress is on the phone talking to Maureen Stapleton. She looks extremely familiar, but I just can't seem to place her.

Is this Jean Seberg at the very beginning ?

Yes, with Lloyd Nolan as Customs Inspector Standish.
