Thanks for your review, although one question: have you verified that the batteries do get charged while in the vertical grip, and the camera connected to charger? Mine simply does not charge, which it seems to be a feature of VG-C2EM!
Hi Emmy, I always take the batteries out of the camera and charge in the batteries using the designated charger. That is my standard workflow across all my cameras - then I don't have to worry about all the variations that are available for in-camera charging. So I simply don't know how well the in-camera charging works, grip or no grip!
@@frederikboving no, I always connect the grip when the camera is power off. And then I turn on it, the screen will show me "u need to use the official battery " but I’my sure that my battery is definitely the official version.... the same battery it work successful when I put it into camera without grip.
Ok, that is strange indeed. I bought my battery grip used and got the batteries together with the grip. They are named NP-FW50. Work like a charm. But you are not alone: www.sonyalphaforum.com/topic/5695-incompatible-battery/ - but not sure what the fix is.
Hi James, I bought my grip used and a few batteries came along with it. I checked, and all of them are original Sony! So sorry, I do not have any experience with off brand batteries. Hope someone else reading this can help!

I got the Neewer 2 years ago and it has not been used that often. Today the switch to open the battery door broke.
Sorry to hear that - I think Neewer otherwise have an ok reputation. I try to buy original, but used, to keep costs down an still get OK quality.
For a7 classic works ?
Sorry?
Hello I got some questions for this set-up..... everything when I use this grip with a7r2, the camera always reboot automatically.....can u help me?
I can try! When is it that the camera boots? Do you mount the grip while the camera is switched on?
