Terribly underrated album. Not a lot of bands put out great product in 92 and beyond, but EMN did with this album, as well as Dog Eat Dog from Warrant, Pull from Winger, Psychoschizophrenia by Lillian Axe, MC94, and the Kix album from '95.

Jammed these guys while back-roading in Tennessee in the 90s. Fast forward 20 plus years and I got to shoot the photos for their record, Resurrect the faithful. Life does come full circle!
In the mid-late 90s I was about 12, and came across this album on cassette that my older brother-in-law left at my parents’ house. As much grass as I had to mow, I could easily listen to it 4 times through in one Saturday on my Walkman and often did. Not one bad song on it to skip. I’m 39 now, and sometimes still pull up Apple Music and put on EMN Wake Up Screaming to enjoy while I mow my own lawn.
Lived in Nashville when this album was big...saw them live at the Starwood with Dream Theater and I remember when 103 KDF played them all the time,that was the good old days!!!!

The memory really came back about the fire and I clearly remember it was exactly 1 or 2 nights before Thanksgiving '95 @ 3 or 4 in the morning, was freezing in Memphis then and later determined the space heaters running upsairs started the fire in the wiring (MFuckuht) but thank God those guys (Son of Slam) weren't hurt, they were alright dudes as well and used to come down to watch us practice. I got down there just before light & they were all standing around w/a blanket or 2 lookin' PITIFUL!!

Later in '95 they had stored alot of road equipment in Son Of Slam's space right above my own band's print shop space just before heading on the road. There was a fire the night before Easter '95, destorying 3 bands worth of shit, including my own! Not to blame, but it started upstairs where Slam was not supposed to be living. Our band leader got all our stuff replaced, but unfortunately for the others they had no insurance. Tough Break for all involved!!! R.I.P. 1974 Marshall half stack
Watching the vid again reminded me of how intense this song was. So is the stare's of the frontman. By contrast Walls come down 'looked' like a standard Poison pop crap video as good as the song is.
The Problem these guys faced was same thing my old band Habitual Ritual faced. That was coming in on the tail end of Hair bands right as Grunge Rock began to kill my world. I was 10 in 80 , so I watched all the Trends in Rock and the Hair Band Era was what mattered most to those of us that lived thru and survived by the experience
