I can understand the video 95% and without subtitles. I am a native Spanish speaker in South America, Chile. My English level has improved a lot since I started learning on my own, because I grew up very poor and I don't have money to pay for a teacher or classes and I don't have friends who speak English.
Awesome tips! Thanks, Stephanie. For me, definitely the way to go is to reduce anxiety. I'm getting more and more aware that emotions can totally block our mind from a correct judgment of the situation we are currently into.
If the person who do you talk to wants to understand you, he will! And there are so many examples when even native speakers don't understand each other))
It's an example about how natives in them daily routine use connect speech and contractions during talking to. She's using a formal and more comprehensive way for us.
Hello... I think the problem is ,when the native speakers are speaking they reduce the words making a very short phrase.... We need to learn reduce words.. I think this is the better solution.
Those are really good tips, I believe that pauses are very important to help us elaborate the sentences in our mind while we are talking. That's something that I'm even trying to do more often in my native language. Many people are afraid of the silence, but actually we shouldn't be, because when we pause and answer seconds after, we show confidence, which is also important. Thank you for the video.
Stefanie, these tips are pure gold! Engaging and practical advice that I'll be sharing with my students too. Kudos on breaking down fluency challenges so effectively!
Big love ❤ to you, wht I gain from you right now is to use the body language and facial expressions to show ppl lik am fluent and confident in either British or American English! I appreciate your lesson English lik a French speaker. Have a beautiful day
Thanks 🙏 a million to you for encouraging me! So, what I see is like difficult thing to me how to get a native English speakers I mean the people from in anglophone countries like USA, Canada, Australia and U. K if you are a French speaker like me , the most of the time we are speaking French and mother tongue that's why is so difficult to be fluent and confident so quickly as possible. Could you help me like a system or strategy that I can use to get them? Imagine many of us, we are good at writing English and sometimes to read but we have a problem about speaking English lik on WhatsApp call or simple call on the phone, or to speak each other face to face. If it wld be possible help please. Thank you so much for your time to read my comment
That's what happened to me when I had my presentation in front of massive number of people (losing some vocabularies) 😅 An experiment I ain't going to forget it I believe that your advices are really helpful
How do you master a language's rhythm once you've already conquered its sounds and fluency? Because you can master the sounds, vowels, and fluency, yet still speak with the rhythm of a different accent but with all the sounds of the American sound system. Let's consider my niece as an example: her passion for accents led her to effortlessly mimic the Australian accent, seamlessly aligning with its unique rhythmic cadence. The point I am trying to make is how do you get the music right after you've gotten the vowels and fluency right, because even if the vowels are wrong and you are able to get the language rhythm right, you are halfway there. You have probably heard instances where someone takes words from one song and sings them to the rhythm of another song. Ps I often hear people who are foreigners but speak with an American accent, sometimes with incorrect vowels, but the American rhythm-the music behind the words-is there even if the vowels are wrong.
I teach rhythm in depth in my Accent Freedom program. englishfulltime.com/waitlist-accent-freedom But basically, you have to realize that most languages are syllable-timed or stress-timed. English is a stress-timed language... so different words are longer or shorter, emphasized or reduced, when we speak. When you learn how to stress words correctly and reduce words correctly, you will be able to master English rhythm. This is why I teach "fast and connected speech" on my channel so much. Correct timing in language is probably the #1 thing that makes you sound natural. You can have correct timing with incorrect sounds, and you will still sound natural. But if you have correct sounds with incorrect timing, you won't sound as natural.
Oh, I feel like you, since I became mom, I forget many words in my speech. And I have 3 kids 😂 I am from Brazil and I'm improving my English with your videos, thaks a lot! 🤓😉
Sometimes i felt the fluency and depth in language used also depends on the speakers position and event taking place the type of conversation a documented speech or casual talk chit chat among friends or family or loved ones or even workers all different some with love and body language even betw mums and dads peers
A question: when you speak on videos, do you speak very clearly, specifically to learners, or do you speak the same way you usually speak with your native friends? On a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 is learners and 10 is native, which number do you think has the most to do with your speech in the videos? Thanks a lot!
I get this question a lot :) I tend to speak very clearly... that's just how I talk. BUT, I also improve that clarity for videos and presentations simply because I tend to support my voice more with my diaphragm and I'm trying to be as clear as possible. I do this in conversations though, too, like when I'm telling a story or explaining something and I want to be sure people understand me.
@@TheEnglishCoach I see... I asked that because I can understand almost everything you say and without subtitles. I think I'm not that bad... lol Thank you!
I understand much better than i can speak cause' I am a Brazilian citizen living in this country where everybody just speaks Portuguese Language wherever you go and to find someone fluent in English can be compared to searching for a tiny piece of transparent glass into the ocean.... that's terrible :(
By the way understand it's enough to me you know but I don't have enough words to express myself in that case what am I gonna do stefanie? That's sounds good

No, they aren’t the same thing. Earplugs are what you use to block out noise (like snoring or heavy machinery). Earphones/headphones are used to listen to electronic devices.
Thanks for one more excelent video. I have a question and, please, don"t get me wrong, because I don"t mean to be umpolite: I noticed you spoke the "t"l etter in "ïnterview". As part of the americans drop this "t" sound in some words like that, should I be concerned about my pronunciation in that cases too? I`m brazilian. Thanks in advance.
Great questions :D Dropping the T after an N is optional :D We tend to do this more if we are not really emphasizing the word. But since I WAS emphasizing the word, I used the T to add more clarity and emphasis.
Native people use a lot of phrase verbs that have much meaning. For me, it is difficult even for memorize. Besides, some of theme, are separabled and non separabled

Listen to more Native speakers until you get used to it
That’s cuz every single teachers are always trying to avoid idioms , slang, phrases verbs etc .. they always are using formal basic English vocabulary
