  • May 14, 2010, Kaunas. Game 4 of the Lithuanian Basketball League finals between Zalgiris Kaunas and Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius. Two days ago, Zalgiris’ Vladimir Romanov owner fired the coaching staff and now the two main players of Zalgiris Darius Salenga and Marcus brown are both playing & coaching the team. The fans are absolutely furious and with the series being 2-1 in favor of Rytas, it is a do-or-die situation.
But how did one of the best teams in Europe end up in this mess? Let’s take a step back to unpack this story.

As someone who had been living in Lithuania and trained in Zalgiris ( back in days Sabonis ) academy it is important for others to understand that in Lithuania Zalgiris is more than just a basketball club and basketball is more than just basketball. This person ridiculed the country’s symbol, the organization that matters a lot for like 1/3 of country’s population.

The quality looks in 1990s not 2010...

One could say 2010 in Lithuania is equivalent to the 90s TV broadcasting wise 🥴

Amazing example of how russian oligarchs tries to destroy our Lithuania from the inside. Kremlin things. Romanov almost bankrupted Žalgiris, our Lithuanian heart of basketball!

Ruzzian things. Romanovas promised to pay all the debts, but he left with same debts, but Lithuanians saved Žalgiris. Same now looks for serbian teams who can receive ruzzian money, but later they will be left in debts

I loved the video, but it was hard to enjoy few moments that I believe weren't necessary. For example you mocked the words "political shelter". For us Lithuanians it's clear who he was and why he had to leave. You shouldn't try to pursue foreigners to your side by mocking russia it's not relevent. Maybe you did it because of the ongoing war and I'm on your side 100%. Putin xuilo! But it is not political channel. Also you don't need to tell all the names of the companies like "Ukio Bankas" like everybody should know this name. All you need to say that he was a owner of the bank, which later led to unpleasant ending. Sorry for my observations I don't want to be rude or anything

When it is more about politics and less about the sport, you have to mention the facts so people understand the whole picture.

I disagree, I have never heard of that bank or this dude and that helped to paint a picture of who he was

Well with Romanovas at least we managed to reach LKL finals every year unlike with the management and incompetence of Motiejunas.

It is 10 times better not to reach finals with this management, than reach it with Buratin.

:D and who was GM at the time? Motiejunas? Lol
