I think America makes some of the best pizzas in the world. I had an Italian roommate and worked with a group of Italians and they all loved the pizza we have here. My roommate used to order it 2 to 3 times a week.

We make some good shrimp and grits in GA/LA as well, but we're all apart of the south we take a certain pride in some good grits and then my Louisiana blood has an built in love/pride for seafood as well.

A friend of mine swore by Malnati's so we ordered their frozen pizza and had it shipped to California. Even though I wouldn't expect it to be as good as a fresh pie from the restaurant, it was still very good. Might even do it again soon. They only offer pepperoni or sausage for the shipped pizzas though.

@@jeffburdick869 If I'm not mistaken the crust is cornmeal or a blend of it and really tasty. The ones they ship are for 1-2 people so we ordered a half dozen and got them in less than 2 days in a cooler with dry ice.
American food is so intense and amazing.
Living here is crazy I can drive three minutes up the road and purchase a double cheeseburger with two glazed donuts instead of buns. The same place also offers breakfast in a cup with grits, bacon, sausage, melted cheese, and eggs in a to-go cup. At local gas stations we also have homemade boudin sausage sometimes with crawfish inside. America especially the south is crazy with the food.

By the way Daz, *REAL* white pizza isn't just pizza without the pizza sauce, under the mozzarella where the pizza sauce normally goes is a mix of ricotta cheese, garlic, and spinach. Get some mushrooms on it and dip it in hot sauce and it is fantastic.

There was a pizzeria that had a pizza named Throgs Neck that had anchovies, clams, and several types of Italian salsiccia and chunky garlic... I would have married that pizza if it were legal.

Frank Pepe's in New Haven is known for their white clam pie, but the standard red tomato pie with mozz is far more popular..... and tasty. The sauce is so damn good.

I'm sure fans would set you guys up for places to sleep, and give you guys the best advice when it comes to food and things to see. You could plan a whole trip from state to state with people here in the US.
Tour of the US means that you’ll have to work out a lot on the road after eating so much good food.
I online-chatted Carmela at Casa Italia in Didsbury and said the Office Blokes of Manchester talked them up and I will plan to eat there as soon as possible when I can come from the states...she answered: "aww...we can't wait to feed you!"

Right. Horrible choice when St. Louis Style Pizza is a thing more nationally known. Literally nobody outside of maybe a select area does pizza dirty like that.
Some of these were inspired by the center of chain pizza, Detroit. Many all over the world have copied Buddy's. My favorite?...$1.25 frozen Totino's pepperoni, the cheapest known to man.
Those party pizzas are amazing if cooked right.
I used to love those. As I got older, the imitation cheese bothered me and I haven't had one since. Use real cheese and I would be all over it.

Do the best beer in each State. Craft breweries are HUGE here in the US. You’ll never hear all of them, buuut it should be good.

Also, you have to keep in mind that these were chosen as the top picks for each states. I'm sure other places in many of these states will disagree with that, many of the states have several great pizza places to choose from.

New Yorker here. Great pizza doesn’t need toppings. It’s all about the flour, sauce, and cheese. If these 3 things are quality... that’s all you need. And olive oil like Di Faras which they showed. But that’s not always used.
As a New Yorker I love how like HALF of these pizzas are pizza places imitating NY pizza. :D
Here in Orlando we love Lazy Moon Pizza! You order a single slice, it's HUGE and one slice is enough to fill you up
Grapes on a pizza are fantastic. The internal sugars caramelize into kind of bittersweet pockets of goodness.

Argument #1 - Colorado. Every Coloradan I know swears by Beau Jo's Pizza. #2 - Kansas. I was a pizza maker in New York years ago - the most authentic NY style pizza I found in Kansas was at Papa Keno's, in Lawrence, KS. #3 - Missouri. Ok, I can't argue with Grinder's, which is here in Kansas City - they're pretty good. But there are numerous amazing pizza places in this metro area, & I'd place Grinder's somewhere in the middle. My personal favourites are Minsky's, Fun House, & Jonnny C's. St. Louis style pie is awesome, as well, but apart from Leo's one just can't get it here in the KC area. In St. Louis itself, my pick is Imo's. Between KC & St. Louis I'd recommend Shakespeare's, in Columbia, MO - it's college pie, but tasty.
Mozzarella is not a region specific food no, just has a process you need to follow.
I live in Kentucky and was suprised by the number of quality options within 5 miles of my house when my family moved here.

The Northeast absolutely slays at hoppy bears. A lot of the breweries in Asheville, NC are the only other place I have found a proper hoppy beer.
They don't mention how many of the places in this list are also microbreweries. So not only do you get a nice non-chain pizza, but you can wash it down with a flight of beer.
Parmesan reggiano has to be from the specific region in Italy to be called parmesan. I think mozzarella is mostly from Southern Italy, but it's made in multiple places.
Living in Massachusetts neva been to Regina pizza I thought they went out of business years ago. The most unique pizza I've seen around here is a pizza with portuguese chorizo.
Regina is pretty good, but it’s more of a name than it is anything else nowadays. They are very consistent though, which counts for a lot.
I'm a Missouri native and have been to Grinders at the KC Crossroads like 100 times and never thought to try their pizza lol. Now I guess I need to go back and give it a try.

Harvest pizzeria is a hipster chain. Cristy's Pizza based in Lancaster, Ohio has continuously been ranked among the top 20 independent pizza chains since 2003. It is way better. Harvest uses nasty GFS food while Cristy's uses RDP as their distributor. GFS is the McDonalds of good service.
If they got my state wrong, I can only imagine how many others are wrong as well.

Just curious: have you ever tried Town Spa Pizza in Stoughton? I’ve heard people talk about it as if it were the third member of some sort of bar-pizza holy trinity along with Cape Cod and Lynwood, but I’ve never tried it. Wondering how it stacks up.

I like how they arent bashing on the US and can actually say that America makes good pizza. Italy makes great pizza and the original is delicious but just because you invent something doesnt mean someone else cant make it better.
To your point, most people who eat pizza around the world have the Americanized version of it. That isn't to say it's better than the original but it also shouldn't be disparaged.
What you were thinking of is napolitana pizza that has to use italian buffalo mozzarella.. if you do not market the pizza as a naples pizza according to VPN standards, you can use any mozzarella you want. The Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) was founded in 1984 in Naples. The organization's goal is to certify pizzerias that use the proper artisan traditions of authentic Neapolitan pizza. They have several requirements that must be met to gain certification, and restaurants must apply for it officially. They also have an American branch and there are currently only a few hundred restaurants in Italy and around the world that are VPN certified.
People talk up NY style pizza and Chicago deep dish, but Detroit style is criminally underrated.

Went to reginas in bostons north end for the first time a year back and yes it was the best pizza I ever had. The line was so long they had a cop there at the door. Knew it would be on this list.
If you live in North Texas and want a good pizza, go to Chelsea’s Pizza in Grapevine. Run by an Italian family that are great people. Mama Mia! Chelsea’s has good pizza! 👍🏻

Food tour of the USA sounds like a great idea: you'd have to eat pizzas, BBQ, sandwiches and desserts in all 50 states to get a true sampling.
The Grape and Gorgonzola Pizza is great they also have a chicken and gouda that is great.

Best pizza in Georgia is not Antico. Before pandemic it was but, reduced their size and kept the high price around $20 a pie. Best pizza now is Veruni Napoli
I don't even know if 5 Points Pizza in Nashville exists anymore. The 5 Points area was ravaged by a tornado in early 2020, and then Covid hit within a month. So a lot of those really nice artisinal restaurants didn't survive that double whammy.

I reside in southern california and have alot of neopalitan type spots here, fuoco being one of my favorites here in fullerton California, but I have also only pizza in about 7 different states (a few times) with connecticut, new york and chicago being a few of them. I must say, frank pepes in CT is my favorite pizza of all time. You dont usually think there could be a massive difference between such simple ingredients oh but trust me. Its worlds apart.

The best pizza in Colorado is hands down Beau Jo's Pizza. It is called Colorado style or mountain style pizza and is specific to Colorado. It has a ton of toppings and a really thick crust that you eat with honey. You should check out a video about it because it is awesome and pretty different than other pizzas.
In Italy, the region around Naples is considered the home of 'real' Mozzarella. It was first made there and is still made there and considered superior. It is made from water buffalo milk. In the US, Mozzarella is made from cow's milk and therefore Italians don't consider it Mozzarella. They call it "fior di latte Mozzarella" or just "fior di latte." In Italy, true Mozzarella is Mozzarella di Bufala, only made with buffalo milk.
Domino's thin crust Hamburger and Onion is pretty good. My grandparents made me eat that every Thursday for like 16 years though, so maybe its just an acquired nostalgia taste at this point

Theres a place in Reno, NV called Pizzanos. When I was in college I used to take Italian exchange students there and a couple of them said it was better than anything they had in their home towns. That place had three hour waiting lists for lunch some days, it’s damn good.
Regina's Pizza in Boston voted best pizza in the US 3 separate times 😋 Unless you like deep dish, the northeast US in general is the best region for pizza MA, NY, NJ, CT all makes great pizza.

Grinders is great! It's in downtown KC. Although I wouldn't go for the pizza they showed. They have better options than that one. They also have an outdoor concert venue behind it.

I’ve been to New York a few times .. I have family there .. and I’ve never been to a place that doesn’t have amazing Pizza.. it’s like everyone knows how to make Delicious Glorious Pizza in New York 😋
Moved to Texas about 9 months ago, Home Slice is pretty decent, although Via 313 is also good. (313 is Detroit Michigan's area code so it is Detroit Style.) Nothing to rant about in either case though. I miss the Pizza in my home town. Small metro in Illinois. Not cago area.
If you come to America for food and drink you need to come to Denver in the Fall and go to the Great American Beer Festival. You pay for a glass and you get infinite samples of great beer from breweries from all over the country. After covid, of course.

I live in Portland, Oregon. Dove Vivi is ok, I'd send you to a couple other places first. I'm from Alaska and the last time I was in Anchorage I had Moose's Tooth. It's actually really good.
Everyone knows the best Pizza joint in the US is Pepe's in New Haven, CT. NYC has some good ones but Pepe's is the best because those ovens have been around for decades and are seasoned!

Antico in Georgia is one of the best, for sure. But THE best pizza is at No. 246 in Decatur.
From Arkansas and I love Damgoode (sausage stuffy with pink sauce FTW), but the best pizza in Arkansas is DeLuca in Hot Springs and it's not close.
If I could eat a pizza from each one of the places on that list and not leave Ohio, that'd be a dream come true.

My favorite local spot in NY is called Nino's. Ran by 2 old Italian guys and the place is TINY. I've never walked in there without the there being Italian soccer on their 16" shitty tv.

You can literally make your own mozzarella cheese in your home over the stove top. It is not an aged cheese like some of the others you see.
We in chicago do not eat deep dish unless it's a special occasion or if we're showing people around from out of town... we eat pan or pub style pizza almost every week... and Lou's does have the best crust but giordanos has the best ingredients... sausage, fresh green peppers and onions... just better tasting toppings... if giordanos used Lou's crust, i think id eat it every other day... and if you guys ever come to Chicago, you definitely need to try a thin crust italian beef pizza, yes i said italian beef pizza... its phenomenal!!
As a Connecticut/New Haven County native, I can assure you the white clam pizza is absolute heaven.
