    Got these Reyes gloves last week and all I can say is WOW! These are the perfect glove. Snug, perfect knuckle alignment, great wrist support. Not too much length on the cuff. Good padding. When you put them on, you just wanna punch. Every shot feels crisp and powerful with great snap. The look and the smell are AWESOME!!!!

    You know what would be interesting...a video about the history of fight gloves. As in going through the timeline of when specific brands started to be used in fights. In the 50's gloves were just red/brown, but where there brands back then? Even in the 90's and early 00's I remember some fighters wore plain red gloves (Arturo Gatti Vs Micky Ward 2) so I always wondered what brand those were.

    One of the best pairs I've trained with, to me its better than Winning, break in is about 2 weeks and you'll understand why its better than Winning. I bought them in August 2020 and my only gripe is that the logo is already peeling off, hate that shit. Other than that...no real complaints.

    So these are an appreciably safer training glove than the standard model for someone with a lot of power?
    I'm 6' and float between 165-90lbs and have fairly slender hands. Even with 180" wraps I frequently hand pain in my hand from powerful hooks. I've never tried Reyes gloves, but I've had pain thru all the higher end Title and Ringside 16oz gloves. The best I've felt thus far were Hayabusa Kanpeki Elites, which are no longer made. I could just ease up of course, but it's fun to be able to throw power shots with confidence. Right now Sir Isaac Newton is giving me a little of my own medicine.
    Liked and subscribed, I appreciate the depth of your descriptions.

    • @heythere6983
      @heythere6983 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also use the kanpeki elites, the prior model with the two bars going up the back of the hand.
      I also punch very hard and those take it easy on my wrist but even my shoulders and etc.
      I do see they still sell kanpeki elites but they are newer version which I haven’t used . My gloves are still doing well but Iv thought about getting a second pair just to have it.
      The one I have though is the Velcro and lace version . They sent me that one as a replacement by mistake and it felt better overall for me .
      I figure maybe it’s best to get the newer version before they come out with some other design change for the sake of having a new version to sell

      I have heard the same and I will admit the newer pair I have are still great BUT do feel...different. I am unsure how to explain but they are still awesome. Little tighter hand compartment and what not but otherwise they still feel great. These feel good and they are still lasting very well. Would just prefer the standard training glove compared to these in general.

    Hey Al, I'm looking at either getting the Winning MS-600-B or the Cleto Reyes Extra Padding. After your experience with both, would you say the Winning is worth spending twice the cost? Do you think the Cleto Extra Padding version would be a more appropriate contender against the Winning as compared to the Cleto original version? I would use them as an all purpose glove since I can't buy multiple version, but I have Fairtex BGV1's now and have already injured my knuckles with those and want more protection so I can keep punching without hurting myself! Thanks!

    I appreciate your review of these gloves I'm going to get a pair I don't have bad hands but I'm a heavyweight and I punch a lot. I will get the usual hands pain here and there but nothing crazy my wrist and knuckles are conditioned well but the bones in my hand aches sometimes. I think from tight hand wraps and punching not entirely sure. But I'm going to get one of the two gloves just don't know if I should go with the basic trainers or extra padding for the overall. I'll will be using them for sparring, mitts and bag gloves so a bit of everything

      Ehhhhhhhhh. Yknow, I would say regular kickboxing without the clinch, absolutely. However, they are a little stiffer due to the extra padding and they took a little bit to break in so in my opinion, not the BEST for thai kickboxing...but they aren't the worst either

    great review answered lot of questions i had. one thing i heard in other reviews is that people complain how heavy they are ie 16oz feels really like 20oz. You think thats the case? I plan on using them for bags sparring and mitts. I never bought a regular reyes because i heard sparring partners complain of it feeling like a bare fist. these sounded perfect for all but i dont want to wear "18oz" gloves as sparring partners get to wear 16 oz btw im 6ft 165

    • @combat_corp
      @combat_corp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So it is a good concern to have but in general, the weight does not effect the padding as much if that makes any sense. Ozs are a measurement of weight and Reyes stays consistent with that padding threshold but yes sometimes Reyes has been known to make a glove slightly heavier due to the fact that latex is a very difficult material to pinpoint dead on accurate. Rival has the same issue with a lot of their gloves but even Russ Anber (owner of rival) has a video out there saying "focus more on the padding in the glove compared to the weight." Great example is to look at most amateur fight gloves. They might be 10-12 ozs but they are actually a lot more padded than a traditional 16 oz training glove. Heavier gloves were primarily designed for shoulder resistance so as you said if you are 165 pounds, 18 ozs might be naturally too heavy for you (not saying you can't do that I am sure you are plenty strong) but you may want to look into 14 ozs vs 16 ozs but 165 is right on that threshold. My advice would be to go with the standard of 16 oz for now and that should be just fine. Your body will naturally adapt to something heavier but don't be so concerned with the weight of the glove at the moment as it shouldn't effect your sparring rounds my friend. Sorry for the long winded answer, I hope this helps somewhat if not, just comment again!

    • @heythere6983
      @heythere6983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I looked into those years ago when getting my first pair of nice gloves. I punch really hard so it’s easy for me to tweak my wrists if I’m not spot on with my punches .
      I got them in 14 oz. they feel very stiff for me. Again I punch hard so I can feel it even in my shoulders on a heavy bag .
      Maybe I should have gotten 16 oz. I do use hayabusa kanpekis 16 oz. I got them both at the same time years ago. The haybusa has Velcro and lacing. They don’t make that one anymore but what I can say is that I can punch as hard as I want and have a way easier time .
      Unless I land totally wrong I’m fine . Iv been looking into new gloves . I like the idea of cletos and looked at these gloves years ago but idk. I often hit the bag so idk if it’s smart to go with gloves known for less overall protection .
      Fairtex just feel stiffer but if your looking for wrist support they don’t offer any special wrist support, it’s a thin Velcro strap.
      Nothing will help more than punching slow and feeling were the knuckle lands and then picking up the pace tho.
      The Hayabusa gloves are pretty great for what it’s worth.
