that music at the second half of this number certainly is encouraging, its like saying 'we won't take this sitting down! we will fight for our country and people, even if we die trying! let's get dancing!!!' good number
For @shadowlight I am second Generation Irish mum English Dad Irish My blood IS Irish I I could not choose where I was born,,,, but I can chose my friends ;-) and dont ever underestimate the Irish ....
As an Irish dancer myself, I can tell you it looks fantastic, and the pros make it look easy. But it's far from. It's very taxing on your body and many dancers develop joint injuries and problems after extensive dancing. He's been daning for over 40 years, I can imagine his joints are pretty much shot through. Which is undoubtably why he seems less energetic in Celtic Tiger, that and he was 47 years old. :P He is just awesome when it comes to choreography though, I agree :)
Oh, it is the biggest mix-up that you have ever seen. My father, he was Orange and me mother, she was green. My father was an Ulster man, proud Protestant was he. My mother was a Catholic girl. From county Cork was she.
Pearse, outside the G.P.O. Stood there, and read the same words. Felt it, meaningful. You can have Scotland, you can have Wales. India, South Africa. England, you can't have us.
@PWMMIR Since he is playing "Rising of the Moon" on the bodhran and the Irish dudes seem to be wearing clothes from the period of the Irish war for Independence, I would think so.
yes "everyday" but the entire country is piratically fluent and can understand it perfectly. It's a bilingual country,we do not use Irish as much as English but we do not need to get our language "back".What a thick statement to make.
Its wearing of the green, the rising of the moon is just another piss willy song wich used the melody of the wearing of the green,it just had different lyrics.
Beannacht De leat agus beannacht De le hannamacha na marbh! Ta suil agam go mbeidh me ansin an t'am eile. Ba mhaith liom ceoil agus damhsa. Go raibh maith agat. EIREANN GO DEO. Bhi me ag caoineadh nuair chuala me e sin.
@echoshadowlight Read the comments here. Most are Americans or Canadians who claim to be Irish. I can almost hear them greet each other with a "top of the morning". Im embarrassed for you.
first of all, everyone ages. You will too and you'll need to come to grips with that. also, this is Flatley going BACK to his roots - He's an Irishman. You can take the man out of Ireland, but you can't take Ireland out of a man. Things can happen in 7 years like, for instance, knee trouble or sickness. You don't know what the man is going through, so unless you can get up there and out-dance him, enjoy the show or walk out.
@reniam i am assuming you know little about history and the English red coats like america fought them for freedom so did ireland also had to fight them.
I just want to know why everything has to end up being about ethnicity/origin. Can't we just enjoy(or not enjoy, as the case may be) the show for what it is? I personally thoroughly enjoyed it.
@@johnhines323 oh I get that. I think I meant that if that is the problem people have with it, maybe they don't need to watch. Heritage and roots are important
@BabiegirlZee76 You assume incorrectly. Early American history has been a passion of mine since childhood and has nothing to do with my comment or, this video. The small clothes and powdered wigs do not match up with the early 20th century dress of the Irish. Not to mention the Tiger. It's a bad amalgamation set-up to play to Americans stereotypes and plays as a disney-type gimmick. This has none of the subtle power RD, or even LOTD did.
he is slightly aged yeah...wobbly bits showing already..(am saying it nicely out of respects for the Irish hero, dont want to offend the wrong people).
michael flatley has LOST it! this is awful!!! what happened to the traditional irish/celtic music and dancing? what happened to the leather pants and burning up the stage with a dancing solo? The original show "Lord of the Dance" (1996), and "feet of flames" (1998) are WAY better and bury this crap! this is embarrassing! and it pains me to have to say that, because i was a huge fan of the other two shows!
@echoshadowlight You are not Irish. You were not born there, you know nothing about the country. Stop pretending. Be open to your Canadian birth. Stop stealing from us!
I love Celtic Tiger, to me it's a great show. Another masterpiece from Michael Flatley. As a fan you should love it, and not criticize.
that music at the second half of this number certainly is encouraging, its like saying 'we won't take this sitting down! we will fight for our country and people, even if we die trying! let's get dancing!!!' good number
I LOVE IT when he starts playing the bodhran!!!!!!!

thanks, didn't know that..
i love irish music! we are 2% Irish!
@irishoforiel not to mention that the irish weren't the only ones who grew potatos but the native american also grew them as well
@redonblue. Potatoes did no originate in Ireland, they originally come from the highlands of Ecuador and Peru.
My favorite part.. ON TH-cam!! =D
AWESOME!
@Baptkira can i change that last remark? its actually the wearing of the green
wats the music called at the end cause i have heard it before but i cant remember the name of the song

For all who don't know, Michael was born in Chicago and is a former Golden Gloves Champion.
Flatley is a true Celtic tiger.
i was at this concert!
where is the rest?
one star.
what the name of the music at the end when he is palying is drums?
@megan10188 an instrumental version of "rising of the moon"
@VampyOne I agree, well said
For @shadowlight I am second Generation Irish mum English Dad Irish My blood IS Irish I I could not choose where I was born,,,, but I can chose my friends ;-) and dont ever underestimate the Irish ....
I loved lord of the dance.. how does Celtic Tiger compare?
As an Irish dancer myself, I can tell you it looks fantastic, and the pros make it look easy. But it's far from. what drum is that???

@PWMMIR Since he is playing "Rising of the Moon" on the bodhran and the Irish dudes seem to be wearing clothes from the period of the Irish war for Independence, I would think so.
@reniam you think this is ridiculous? you should see how the villain from lord of the dance looks like in Michael's 2011 reinvision of it
I recently read, to my surprise, that he retired. He probably doesn't want to admit it, but he is probably feeling his age.
Are the Irish the original underdogs?
Celtic Tiger - The 1916 Rising
@clearlogicify In other words, he looks authentically Irish, yeh?
Makes me proud to be a MICK.
yes "everyday" but the entire country is piratically fluent and can understand it perfectly.
It's a bilingual country,we do not use Irish as much as English but we do not need to get our language "back".What a thick statement to make.
@bbenjoe amen ta that!
weeee....
HALF of this video is missing...
@Baptkira it sounds like men behind the wire but thats a rough guess
Just look for "The 1916 Rising" that's the part following this one ;-)
The wearing of the green
Has this show ever been played in the U.K? It doesn't seem to cast the British in a very positive light.
Its wearing of the green, the rising of the moon is just another piss willy song wich used the melody of the wearing of the green,it just had different lyrics.

Why have the guys in uniform coats got the Scottish lion on their chests? I'd have thought the English one would be more appropriate.

American Irish that is!
Here the Battle Cry xXx
VENGAN A CHILE!!!!!
@clearlogicify Lol, if my Irish friend right next to me hadn't said it first, I probably wouldn't have either.
better that than what happened to Gene Kelly - got so sick it forced him to stop and he never came to grips with it
@reniam i am assuming you know little about history and the English red coats like america fought them for freedom so did ireland also had to fight them.
the end song here is the beginning of "The 1916 Rising" /watch?v=sXyZKwk8QhE
I just want to know why everything has to end up being about ethnicity/origin. Can't we just enjoy(or not enjoy, as the case may be) the show for what it is? I personally thoroughly enjoyed it.
because the entire show was by design about ethnicity and origin. if you remove that you don't have a show.
@@johnhines323 oh I get that. I think I meant that if that is the problem people have with it, maybe they don't need to watch. Heritage and roots are important

there is a MASSIVE difference.

he is slightly aged yeah...wobbly bits showing already..(am saying it nicely out of respects for the Irish hero, dont want to offend the wrong people).
dude he needs to keep the shirt on, to much on show, not good for a 50 something year old!!! amazing talented dancer tho
I know that Flatley is a very talented man, but for jesus sake, WHY does he always have to show off his chest??
Yeah, this must have been the end of the craze. WTF? Is he supposed to be a Hell's Angel fighting 18th century English butlers? Ridiculous.
michael flatley has LOST it! this is awful!!!

nah this wasn't political at all
