Entangled Seal Can Barely Move

  • Once caught in an entanglement, seals can do nothing to help themselves. They don't have hands or fingers, do not know how to use tools, cannot reach the entanglement with their teeth, and cannot communicate with other seals and ask for help. While some seals can live with their entanglement for a long time, others have their mobility taken away because it restricts their movement or causes too much pain. They cannot survive for long. We can only help those who can make it to our beaches; we have no idea how many entangled seals and other marine animals we lose at sea. 🦭

It would be kind of neat, especially for the seals 🦭 that are underweight if you had some sort of compact food like an "energy bar" but for seals that could give them nutrients, vitamins, protein and fats to help these animals you release. Although logistically, I realize that this sounds better than it actually is. How are you gonna get these animals that all they want to do is get away from you to eat something offered. It would be awesome to have a stinky fat fishy vitamin and whatever other good supplements cake like things to give to these animals to give them like an extra boost to help them heal and get well faster. A completely unfeasible yet awesome idea

Good rescues. The luckiest seals land on these beaches. Loved hearing the laughter, seeing the camaraderie. Thanks OCN!

As I watched you net the large seal I realized from his pov the opening must look like a large mouth coming at them! What a happy shock it must be when they are released and not eaten! 🥰🇺🇸

You guys are truly amazing. Risking injury to save marine mammals who will never know you have saved their lives. With No thought of thanks or reward. Bless you all.
