You are an excellent teacher! Your directions and demonstrations are very clearly understood. Thank you so much for this video and for sharing your skills.
Hi Kelly, I have just started watching your tutorial for making a bag. And I so glad I did. I bought a Ashford Riged heddle loom and a sampleit loom and have struggled with warping them. With in minutes of your video I knew how. I can't believe how incredible of a teacher you are. I have watched so many videos I was at the point of giving up. Please please if you could put a video up just on how to warp a loom. Because I am sure it will be a great success. Eternally grateful. Glenne
Hi Glenne, I'm happy to hear my videos have been so useful to you! For step by step warping instructions and a great way to get weaving on a rigid heddle loom, you may want to check out my beginner's class: kelly-casanova-weaving-lessons.teachable.com/p/beginner-rigid-heddle/?preview=logged_out
You can find the materials list here - th-cam.com/video/2tAOKQL7Rb8/w-d-xo.html I don't really have a "go to" size for bags and clothing, I decide on each individual project according to what I want to achieve.
Such clear videos you make! Thanks so much. I still need to purchase a loom and I'm stuck on what weaving width to buy. Is your loom an Ashford 28" loom? What do you recommend?
+Linda Brianne Thank you for such a kind comment. The first thing I would ask is "what do you want to weave"? Do you want the flexibility of a larger loom that you can still weave smaller projects on? Or would you only be weaving a smaller width? My loom is a 23" which is a good, in the middle sort of size, however, if I had my time again I would go for something wider for the flexibility :) Hope this helps.
I was going to get the 40cm Ashford, but my husband suggested I got the 60cm as I can weave smaller on the 60 but not bigger on the 40 :) So I got the 60 and am relly pleased with it.
In the materials list you have superwash merino, what else can be used? I'm a new weaver and just signed up for your classes and really want to make this tote. Also what size reed is this? BTW I'm using a 15" cricket. Thank you!
You can use a non superwash wool, acrylic or cotton, the size of ysrn is more important than the fibre. I have used a 7.5dent heddle, an 8 dent is also fine 😊

curious, what size and type of yarn did you use for this project? if nothing else what is your normal "go to" size for totes and clothing yarns?

Your husband is right (and isn't it great to have him supportive of your weaving!) I've never regretted having a bit of extra width to play with :)
Agreed!
