When they put the OHLE wires up in 1986/7, the summer Saturday only through trains from Liverpool Street to Great Yarmouth were routed this way, avoiding Norwich Thorpe, whilst London Norwich trains terminated at the old Trowse station, for a bus connection. I have done the Wensum Curve in the cab of a Class 66 on 6A22 14:22 North Walsham to Parkeston, which I rode the entire trip. It was quite interesting to see the freight driver observe his unsigned speed restrictions on his RT3973 Form. I recall we did not do much more than 35 mph on the GEML. I even watched a bunny climb out of the Down Cess, cross the Down Line, cross the Sixfoot, cross the Up Line and give us a little wave as he climbed into the vegetation of the Up Cess before we got there ! Riding an 86 or 90 you never saw the bunnies. We were routed into the Up Goods at Diss, the Down Goods at Stowmarket, and the Centre Road at Ipswich. Colchester Power Box stopped us at East Suffolk Junction, and by the time we crawled into Ipswich the next up intercity pulled in alongside us, the driver giving us a glare for delaying him. I got a lot of respect for freight drivers after that. They have a much harder job.

Would be good to know what train you are driving with external and internal shot at the start. Class 66?

Great video, maybe do other 'shorts' showing things like shuting moves etc
That's the plan, as and when I get the recordings I will put them up

I have just watched this one again and noticed the catenary in the yard, except through siding is tram style, presumably due to slow speed movement
