- Rami Khoury says Hezbollah, with its release of a surveillance video of Haifa in Israel, is sending the message that the group’s capabilities “continue to expand, become more sophisticated”, and more able to “penetrate through Israeli defence systems”.
“This has been a steady process,” Khoury, a professor at the American University of Beirut, told Al Jazeera, adding that the same thing was happening with Hamas.
“Their abilities have expanded to the point where the old advantage that Israel had over both of them in technology and heavy weaponry, air superiority and all of those things, has been whittled down.”
He said the consequences of this were evident in Gaza where despite tens of thousands of Palestinians being killed, Israeli forces have not been able to “eliminate Hamas’s capacity to continue fighting”.

One of the biggest issues with occupiers and colonial empires is the massive imbalance in power and technology. The simple reason we don't have a ceasefire is because two nations out of hundreds don't feel they need one. We in the US continue to send weapons because we can, and Israel continues to do whatever they want to do with them because they can.
They've basically told the world, "who can or will stop us?" But we will cry terror when someone actually does. That's the power of owning all the media: the narrative is set by them and most people buy right into it. But have those people switch places with the minority power and see how quickly their thinking changes.
