IndyCar is going to have to do something about the endless laps under yellow. Ericsson on lap 1 or 2 went onto the grass, had no damage other than some grass on his wing, made it back to the pits. IndyCar put out a yellow which lasted 10 laps. They didn't need to even put out a yellow, there was no car damage or debris on the track. And that was only one of many unnecessary and endless yellow. I'm beginning to believe its done so NBC can run more ads.
During every caution the track was swept so they could have a chance for a second groove during restarts. The tires were degrading at a high rate leaving rubber all over the higher part of the track, so maybe blame Firestone for bringing high deg tires to an oval
@@lotus95t no but lots of dirt and grass on the track, also pits are not open on first lap of caution so thats two laps possibly 3 for cars to cycle through the pits. I would almost bet they swept the high line then too. Power had been pleading with drivers Friday to run up high to work in a groove but he seemed to be the only driver willing to try in practice. So IndyCar was doing their part to keep the high line clean and make it a good show

Also. It is interesting to watch Newgarden feel like he needs to teach Santino and publicly whine about him on TV, yet a few weeks ago even he, the “teacher” is trying to squeeze by RHR on the last lap and even made contact with RHR. So he’s not even a rookie and making HUGE mistakes all on his own, yet he goes and whines about Santino. He’s also lucky he didn’t cause RHRs car any damage, but that was completely uncalled for and there is NO way he was going to make that pass. This is only one of many stupid mistakes Josef has made (and not as a rookie).
please explain how Carpenter, Sato and Kanaan cycled to the front. I didn't notice the scoring showed the rest of the field a lap down at the time of the last caution.
I don't think the tires were that bad. The top would have had sufficient rubber down if more ppl ran up there. We don't want perfect sticky tires. Harder/worn tires let the drivers showcase their talents.
Ferrucci may not only take rookie of the year but also best seb in the standings. Where was this level of performance in f2 and f3? I wonder if a more durable tire could possibly hurt racing despite reducing marbles. Something for firestone to test for sure. I just wouldnt want to see everyone stuck in position and fresh tires not doing enough to warrant rolling the dice for an undercut pit stop
More of David endlessly praising Santucci, what else is new? Tbf Santucci's redemption has been unbelieveable, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got rookie of the year.
In the replay it looks like TK moves his car before Santino does both times. Idk how people can praise Pags at Indy for breaking the draft, but turn around and say TK was an egregious block.
Maybe even a Coyne 1-2. I'd say they were fine on fuel with some fuel saving but not to the extent Rossi needed at all. Wouldn't have had the crazy yellow as those drivers would have pitted under green.
Dude Josef Newgarden could have been probably about 16-20 points ahead of where he is in the points. Mid Ohio was his fault, Gateway not really but still kind of. He is still in good shape but he could have looked unbeatable
Very entertaining but when races are won on luck due to yellows and when you happen to get in the pits, to me, those aren’t “the best” races. I hate that stuff, which is why I’m not a huge fan of short ovals. The dominant and best drivers didn’t win. That’s my opinion though.
Ferrucci is fighting for rookie of the year. Newgarden bitching about a last turn incident is idiotic. Both are fighting for a big prize. Newgarden has made it. Ferrucci is trying to make it. Newgarden is an crybaby
I think of newgarden as becoming the Hamilton of indy gonna keep winning and be at the top but also being a crybaby and a rat like lewis. That's why I m a fan of santino and red bull in f1 I want those bigger than life guys to fall.
Lmao he’s fighting for the championship and trying to extend, and then a guy who just comes down is just dangerous with newgarden coming that fast he’s not a crybaby now he’s starting do dominate and now u guys are hating because your tired of him dominating I’m not even a Hamilton fan
David, You and the American fans need to move away from focusing on the spectacular driving styles of some of the drivers. It means nothing, unless indycar are going to award points for the most spectacular outside pass or the best save of the race. You than go on to say, if this or that was to have happened, Ferrucci would have won. That's not how life works. Ferrucci did not win, hence way you are talking about his driving style, instead of a win. Let the kid win a race first, and than complement him on his abilities. Rossi is going to be quickly known as the guy who is spectacular, but yet to win an Indycar championship. You American fans have talked up Rossi as the next best thing based on his driving style. Now he is looking like he is going to crack under pressure, for the second year in a row. Being spectacular behind the wheel does not seem to deliver you an Indycar championship.

These short ovals are really growing on me. Makes you think Indy could do well adding a few more to the schedule if it wanted to balance the oval v. road split. If you get the excitement of oval racing but less likelihood of spending a year watching insta videos of one of your favorite drivers learning to walk again, I think its a win-win.
What was the best moment of the race?
I liked Santinos driving he did good
towards the end when my friends and i were cheering on kanaan. 10 MORE YEARS! 10 MORE YEARS!
When Newgarden spun and everyone thought Rossi finished ahead of him
@@absofruitlyriley wasn't Rossi a lap down?
the finish, and the commentary with newgarden spinning
Awesome awesome finish!
DL, you hit on two points on which I’d like for you to pontificate: 1) why has Dale Coyne not locked up Ferrucci long term and 2) why has Connor Daly not landed a full time ride? Go!
lol at Newgarden crawling across the line on the last lap. Can you imagine what that must have felt like? Thanks Santucci.
Give this track a NASCAR Cup Series race
Being a Colts fan too when Andrew Luck retired I felt like Batman when his parents died. I hope those that booed him now understand why. Don't be surprised we still make the playoffs with all that talent. If not the Pacers are gonna be good especially with a healthy Oladipo
7:00 I agree with that. If I was Mclaren I would hire Santucci
The last true side by side finish before last night was that photo finish between Rahal and Hinch at Texas in 2016
Wow David Land I did not realize that a Foyt car hasn't been on the podium on an Oval since Kansas 2002 i was at that race Airton Dare won that day I was 9 at the time
Man i was wondering when he was gonna address Luck finally giving up on the colts
My home track!
Indycar really needs more short ovals
Damn I missed it but was watching the Dirt Million on dirt on dirt. I’ve got to say dirt late models is where it’s at right, however Indycar is definitely up and coming. Besides dirt late models, Indycar is the by far much better than NASCAR.
Ikr some NASCAR fans couldn't be more wrong about their series being "On fire" totally not the case in NASCAR. IndyCar has been far better.
Does IndyCar ever treat the racing surface i.e. NASCAR?The name of the product escapes me,but it's used to increase grip.It was a great race and living 2 hrs from Loudon I would love to see IndyCar give that track another go.Good episode David, and I wanted to say I was real impressed with the crowd.🏁
PJ1
Best race and big crowd
It was cool to see the Oberto car. Just like in H1 Unlimited.
LOL Dixon and Rosenqvist were side by side at Mid-Ohio at the finish. That was less than a month ago and you were there!🤣🤣🤣
Paul O I think he probably forgot to mention, a close finish like that in an oval. I think Texas 2016 comes to mind when he meant the last time.
Gateway is a great track
May be wrong but off the top of my head, I think the last true oval side by side finish was Ed at Kentucky 2011
Don’t forget about Texas 2016!
The race was great. But the Indycar crazy yellow flag procedures are embarrassing
They stayed out on one of the last cautions, can't remember what one exactly.
Please do a video on Marco Andretti's whole career
I was there. #IWasThere
Conor Daly: the Matt DiBennedetto of Indycar
I don't think the tires were that bad. The top would have had sufficient rubber down if more ppl ran up there. We don't want perfect sticky tires. Harder/worn tires let the drivers showcase their talents.
Bad day for Rossi, Angry mode
Good day for Sato, Good Karma
*_Jacoby Brissett will bring us to the Super Bowl_*
“Takuma Sato has never won a boring race”
I dunno man, Barber was one of most boring races I’ve seen this year (and I watched the French GP in F1)
Jeez it's been a week already?!
McLaren should nab Conor Daly. As long as Air Force follows him cause those liveries he has for the USAF are awesome
More of David endlessly praising Santucci, what else is new?
Tbf Santucci's redemption has been unbelieveable, and I wouldn't be surprised if he got rookie of the year.
Dont fret, David. Colts will either get Tua or Lawrence next season mang
In the replay it looks like TK moves his car before Santino does both times. Idk how people can praise Pags at Indy for breaking the draft, but turn around and say TK was an egregious block.
Santino wins if not for Seb washing out
Maybe even a Coyne 1-2. I'd say they were fine on fuel with some fuel saving but not to the extent Rossi needed at all. Wouldn't have had the crazy yellow as those drivers would have pitted under green.
I just cannot see a European based team like McLaren signing Ferrucci. He is just so hated over here.
Santuni, Santucci, Santalino, Santolio, Santana...I mean...
Indy 500 was the best race of the year
It wasn't a good day to be a Graham Rahal fan
This season as a whole hasn't been a good time to be a Graham fan, hopefully they get it figured out because Sato should not be outperforming him.
Jacoby is the next Tom Brady!
Really appreciate the video and commentary. Maybe a bit too much dialog without video. Thanks
Dude Josef Newgarden could have been probably about 16-20 points ahead of where he is in the points. Mid Ohio was his fault, Gateway not really but still kind of. He is still in good shape but he could have looked unbeatable
High tire tegradation
Land David First Race
Carlos S A N T U N A
Yea, definitely lost a lot of sleep with the colts news.
I still like to call it Gateway and I don't know why
Indianapolis, stop complaining, at least you got a team #STLPROBLUMS
Too bad most fans hate ovals it seems. Indycar needs MORE OVALS
Exactly we have plenty of road courses time to bring some more ovals no more excuses Indycar
Michigan and Loudon
Loudon was a dud in 2011 Michigan would be cool but I think it won't happen I'd like to see Chicago Kansas and Fontana back
8 road curses 8 ovals. Perfect schedule
@@jamesgentry13 id like 20 races 10 road courses 10 ovals
11:11 Umm... Mid-Ohio?
If AJ shows up in Portland,Antifa won't.
So after seeing Santino Ferrucci being an oval hype am I the only one who thinks he looks like Freddie Mercury? 😂
At least its entertaining and big business aka mercades money dont win championships here, ballsy drivers do ,this guys gonna talk about American series while all you here is how can we make f1 competitive and interesting again it's really in a bad place. Obviously true cuz your watching us.
The block by Kanaan should have dropped him down. Dirty old man racer.
Tom Miles I’m new to auto sports so I don’t really know but I am wondering if what Kanaan did wasn’t a block then what is?
