One important thing to note is that oracles ult not only delays damage and healing, but doubles the healing amount done during the time (allowing oracles heals etc to go off and have an effect since they are over time - the damage is applied but gets doible healing for every instance)
When you use your ult on allies using oracle. You can see how much was the dmg was done to that ally by checking above their heads. When it's fiery the dmg is like big, when it's not fiery most likely that ally will live. So as oracle you use your ult and do your best to not let that ally die by using a lot of healing spells to negate all the dmg that came in.
The stuff going on above the head isn't an indication of imminent death. It's an indicator of zero HP for the target for damage taken. This is before heals and the heal amplification numbers kick in. The tooltip in the game isn't very helpful so I can see why you think it's a death indicator.
To be a little more comprehensive about how Oracle’s Ult works: It stores information; it takes into account damage taken, as well as healing received. It doubles healing the target gains. At the end of the duration it will check to see which is higher, damage taken or healing received. If damage wins it, the target takes that damage. If healing is higher, the target is healed for that amount. You can tell if which is higher at the moment based on the orb above their head. Fiery Orb means damage, shiny gold orb means heal.

You have to do more research on the dota side. Oracle's Ult DOUBLES the effectiveness of healing while it is active. So it doesn't "delay death." It prevents death by making healing twice as valuable for up to 10 seconds on the target.
@TZAR POTATO it does not delay death. It stops all damage and all healing from affecting the hero. Then, at the end, it adds up both the damage and twice the healing and sets the health of the hero to that number. If that number is below 0, they will die. It has does not affect death what so ever.
@Peace Pham nope. Delaying death is how dazzle works or tryndamere in league. If you're at full hp and oracle ults hpyou, your hp never moves. It has nothing to do with death. Your hp just can't change until it's over. Dazzle and tryndamere set a minimum that your health can not go under, this delaying death. You can still heal during a ln effect that delays health. He probably meant Oracle, but he is right. Playing oracle is not even close to what you described in this video. The basic concept of an oracle is to combine spells. Each spell is average in itself and has its positive and negative effect. To play a hero well you have to know when and how to combine spells. For example if you want to heal a teammate, you need to cast shield on him, then nuke him with dmg/heal ability. shield will negate damage of spell and it will only heal him. If the ally is still in combat at the moment, you need to cast root spell on him to remove disarm of the shield ability so he can continue fight.
