Coming from Adaptive Project Management background and using standard tools like Jira to manage project artefacts to consulting and having to use traditional Project Management methodology and SharePoint. I was starting to sweat thinking this is just y beyond me but you made it look so much easier. You've just reignited my love for technology
Hi Adriana. I am not an official project manager. But, I do manage projects within my organization and am looking to enhance my skills. You recommended this video based on a comment I left in another video. And, this is going to be a great help. The look of the Sharepoint site definitely ups the game. Thank you for the recommendation.
Simple enough. Can that project site be made a template for the next project that comes along, so all those setup steps (including folders) do not need repeating?
Love the idea, but using a tool like Asana or Jira is much better. They are built for project management out of the box and integrate with M365 and Google. Plus, collaboration is much easier too.
I don’t know those apps but I do have access to sp as does the rest of the team-so I’ll just focus on what tool I actually have. This Jira and Asana comment is extremely helpful to know though-something for me to check into!
Perhaps, but some organisations don't need to spend extra money for a few bells and whistles when their M365 licensing gives them all the integration they need.
@@emjem99 Fair point. I would add that in m365 you do have access to Microsoft Planner. When combined with Teams, it gives you File storage, Kanban, and project status and more. Just some thoughts.
Straight to the point and very engaging, great content:-) What is your recommendation for portfolio management in Sharepoint - would you create Sharepoint sites for each individual Project ( as per video tutorial) or would you manage each project ( as document libraries or pages, channels in teams ) under the Portfolio Sharepoint site? Would love to hear your input on that:-) Thanks, heaps
It really depends on how much information you plan on sharing for the individual project. The additional pages to the portfolio SharePoint site can work really well if the info is simple. If you do choose separate SharePoint sites for the projects than you can have the links on the portfolio SharePoint site to all the other project SharePoint sites.
Hi I underwent a surgery and with all the medications, I've developed brain fog and I'm having to relearn what I've been doing for 16 yeats. Can you create a video that provides a step by step lesson on how to create workstreams
Instead of thinking of it as what should or should you not do….focus on the approach that will work best for your team. You can even ask your team which method they prefer. As the PM you can then decide which will work best for your project and your team. Cheers.
I need help with using SharePoint for work. My boss is trying to have me create a SharePoint webpage for new customers new employees, especially employees that need information about what their job is, putting in job applications as a PDF files forms applications that anybody can go to in fill out but the main question is how do I know or she know that the PDF files that we put into SharePoint how do we know that the people are done with it? How do we share some information that other people who are not in the organization have access to. Please and thank you
Hi Adriana! Thank you for sharing this great video with the community. Its very helpful. I have a question, why do you have a different sharepoint site to store the documents in folders, instead of having those folders directly in the Project Sharpoint Site?
Hi Hortencia. If you go back to the video at start at the 7:00 mark I walk you through how to upload documents directly to the sharepoint site you are creating. There is only one sharepoint site. In the video I opened the same site in a second tab so I could get the url, see video at 14:30. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Choose what ever works best for you. Don’t forget that SharePoint Library (the list on the left) is made up of folders. Find out what will work best for your team so they use it.
Hi Youssef, what you are trying to do may not be feasible in SharePoint. Here is a link to Microsoft - get started with Sharepoint. Cheers! support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/get-started-with-sharepoint-909ec2f0-05c8-4e92-8ad3-3f8b0b6cf261

I always advocate to use what works for you as a PM and what your team has access to.

@XFiorentti thank you for the topic suggestion. Wishing you all the best as you continue to recover. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Is there a simple way to save this as a template?
Shouldn't we be staying away from nesting folders, and instead utilize metadata?

Is it possible to display images and text dynamically from a list to sharepoint site
Why not use Sharepoint Libraries instead of using documents in folders??
