After a cold and rainy day at the Munich Christmas Markets, we decided to catch a train 100 miles (160 km) north to the city of Nuremberg (Nürnberg) to get a little Christmas market redemption at the Nuremberg Christmas Market (Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt) which is arguably the most famous (with around 2 million visitors each year) and some would even say the best Christmas market in all of Europe! After experiencing it firsthand, we can see why this market ranks near the top of pretty much every traveler's must-visit Christmas market list. The second that you arrive at the Hauptmarkt - the central square where the market takes place - the smell of warm Glühwein (mulled wine), fresh Lebkuchen (gingerbread), and Nürnberg Rostbratwurst (grilled sausage) take over your senses. The red and white candy-cane-like rooftops on the 180+ neatly aligned festive stalls look to be straight out of a European Hallmark movie, and the twin, 50-feet (15-meter) high Christmas trees on either side of The Frauenkirche ("Church of Our Lady") are the final touches that make the Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt pure Christmas magic.

We’re Matt & Nat, a part-time, non-remote travel couple based out of Nashville, TN.

The drinking and eating out of real dishes instead of take-away disposables and charging a deposit is so awesome! I wish we did that in the states at our festivals! Nat and her giant pretzel lol 😆 I love it. These markets look like so much fun to visit! 🎉

The Schmidt-Lebkuchen cookie company is located in Nuremburg and that’s where the lebkeuken has been made for over 90 years. I have several beautiful tins that contained the cookies from when we were stationed in Germany. I also have my beautiful Angel Topper that I bought in that market over 30 years ago.

Went to Germany for 2 weeks for Christmas Markets. Started in Munich, las week in Karlsruhe. Went to Nuremberg, and several other cities! My husband is from Heidelberg, so we had to go to several places! Very cold! Had to keep getting Gluevine! Yum!
Great video this brought back a lot of memories from when I lived in Germany. I’ve been to the Nuremberg Christmas Market many times from when my dad was stationed in the Army.

Nürnberg Christmas 🎄 Markets are more authentic in my opinion than in Munich.Both Cities are amazing

Here in Germany it doesn't mean anything negative if someone "stares" at you!
In fact, it's exactly the opposite...
Here, looking someone in the eye is a sign of respect and/or interest.
There is the sentence:
"The eyes are the window to the soul"...
So when you look into someone's eyes instead of looking at the ground, you have a "clear conscience"...
Long story short...
When we Germans "stare" at you, it's absolutely nothing negative👍

Hey Loey! Thanks so much for watching! We based out of Munich for our time at the Christmas markets since we visited the markets in Munich and Nuremberg. It’s a short 1hr train ride to Nuremberg from Munich.
We would have loved Nuremberg had it not been shoulder to shoulder people. Gotta agree though it's a must see and do.
Yea, it can definitely gets crowded! We visited on a weekday and got there early, so it wasn't too bad for us. Although by the time we were leaving (7:30pm) it was pretty busy! Thanks for watching!😊
