Lyrics:
You'll take my life but I'll take yours too
You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through
So when you're waiting for the next attack
You'd better stand there's no turning back
The bugle sounds as the charge begins
But on this battlefield no one wins
The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath
As you plunge into a certain death
The horse he sweats with fear we break to run
The mighty roar of the Russian guns
And as we race towards human wall
The screams of pain as my comrades fall
We hurdle bodies that lay on the ground
And as the Russians fire another round
We get so near yet so far away
We won't live to fight another day
We get so close near enough to fight
When a Russian gets me in his sights
He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow
A burst of rounds takes my horse below
And as I lay there gazing at the sky
My body's numb and my throat is dry
And as I lay forgotten and alone
Without a tear I draw my parting groan.

Yes, but over played towards the end.
Base line is wicked too.

Strong statement there dude.
*Megadeth fan has entered the chat*
@@MGWPS462 Well, it's a true statement.
@@Skelterbane69 its an opinion....a good one but the greatest one ever written is a STRONG statement. Stairway? Any Sabbath riff? Maybe even Seek and Destroy? Or maybe all along the watchtower?
Or maybe the opening riff of Spanish Caravan by the doors
Galloping bass.. drums matching.... absolutely amazing vocals.... guitars everywhere... vintage maiden
This is the perfect metal song, it has everything you could want. I've met many people who've said they don't listen to metal but every single one loved The Trooper. I wish more modern metal bands adopted Iron Maiden's mentality. Simple, Catchy, Badass. Music should be about fun, not to show off how complicated you can make things.
Umm, the guitar parts aren't that simple
@@turdfurgeson2032 In comparison to modern day, its very simple. Its not an easy song, but its simple
I live in the hood. THIS song made me appreciate metal! I had been missing out!.
@@_.Lucifer_Lightfall._ Hell yeah, metal gets a bad rap for being nothing but incoherent screaming and fast non-sensical playing. Especially within the rap, hip-hop and Rnb spheres. But I use this song along with The Hellion/Eletric Eye and Holy Wars to show people the genre's a lot more than just incoherent death metal.
AMEN! Had to tell a cousin that! Metal is incredibly diverse as a genre! I blasted this on my way to the market a few times. LOL@@CodyTheGuitarist

Daughters account. I love how almost every song by iron Maiden tells a story and it's done so professionally that you can't not listen to it. At least for me anyway
Try listening to Sabaton, you'll like it!
@@AgentLeon Yeah I've always felt Sabaton is a modern Iron Maiden, The main riff to Bismark for example feel very Iron Maiden too me
Lets take a moment and appreciate how much effort he put on that "oooh" ,that was nearly a level of maria kallas , im talking about a serious level, incredible voice

Walking air raid siren.
When I first listened to this song I was like “Wait, is this a killer song about the Crimean War???” And it was. Bless lovely Iron Maiden. The band I would most like to drink scotch with in a library and talk about history.
They actually had me at the library printing out antique English poetry that I learned about from Maiden songs.
😄😁😅😂😂🤘😝🤘
Charge Of The Light Brigade, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner...

I'm 33 and I've been listening to them since I was like 7. They are one of the bands that got me into metal. I will NEVER stop blasting Iron Maiden. 🤟🏻
Damn what a great classic. Never gets old 🤟
I saw Maiden in 1982 at the Dallas County Convention Center. Saxon and Fastway opened up for them. Great show and loudest concert I ever attended. 41 years later my ears are still ringing
Listening since i was 13 years old now i am 46
if you grew up with music like this, your parents made the world a bit better!
One of the best songs ever made! I love the galloping guitar riff plus the drums and the bass! Everything is perfect! Phenomenal song!
Sto pezzo mi manda fuori di testa!!! Saluti dall'Italia..
Had this cranked up hauling on logging roads in the bush. Awesome memories!!
Bendigo el año 2009 cuando escuché ésta banda por primera vez ❤️
i dont listen to iron maiden that much but this has been in my head all damn day!
You could hear so many cover bands trying to make it sound like Trooper they just don't have the lead and rhythm guitarist to play to get that sound..The Voice the bass player it's been over 40 years playing Trooper and it's still a true Badass Song...🎸🥁🎸🎤🎵🎼🎶🐎💨
Still epic in 2022
And will be in 2052 sa well!

Thumbs up this vid, best quality without a doubt. Everything else sounds muffled and garbled. This is clear and clean!
This song is wicked fun to play on the bass.
So true
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
“Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!” he said.
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred
What makes this song that much more badass [the riff itself makes me think about battle] is the fact that it was inspired by a Tennyson poem which was inspired by a light infantry charge against entrenched heavy Russian guns with overlapping fields of fire. The men (the troopers) would have known it was basically suicide, but they did it because it was their duty.
The poem itself is directly quoted and referenced in the film “Saving Private Ryan”.
See “Crimean War”, “Charge of The Light Brigade” and “Siege of Sevastopol”. Then you realize this is the same place that Russia is fighting right now [Ukraine] and that the battle this song is referring too took place in 1854 sort of, well, it’s crazy.
I know what you mean and yeah it is crazy

What wounderful memories 1980 erea
The first time I heard this was as a kid watching this British show called Stitch Up, and the intro music of this song would play before a segment called Heavy Metal Granny, where a granny in a mobility scooter would roll through public places playing heavy metal music. Ah, good childhood memories
