You are not the only one! My son passed in October 2018 and I have not decorated for Christmas since then. Thanks for the inspiration, I am decorating this year!
I pray that the decorating for this Christmas will give you peace and joy. Try to add a special ornament just for your son. I got a cardinal bird for my mom this year who passed away in 2015.
I am sorry for your loss. May your son rest in peace. You will always have his love and spirit. I know that a mother's love never dies. God bless you and have fun decorating.🤗
One question I always have after watching your videos…how do you store and organize all your decor from season to season? I’d love to get some your ideas on that as well. Maybe you can inspire us when we need to put away our holiday decorations this year. ❤🎄
Definitely put up Jack’s tree. My husband has had 3 major surgeries in the last 4 years. Now I think a lot more about how much I would miss his shenanigans and sheer joy in things that might not necessarily be my favorites. ❤
Agree. I lost my husband 4 years ago and when I think back of how I could have put his wants before my own in so many ways, I truly regret it. I feel like I was a pretty good wife and he would tell you that I was, but all I could say to him as I saw him for the last time, was "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry." Put Jack's wants above what Instagram tells you. This made me so sad. Don't take him for granted.
I’m in Canada and usually I start incorporating evergreen branches and more candlelight, velvets and faux furs at this time of the season. We will usually wait until December to put up the tree etc. This year I know many people who have already put up their trees and full decor. I think that people are just so ready to go all-in on holidays again.
I’m doing my first tree since 2017 - we downsized and lived in an RV for two and a half years - and the previous video really got me going! I used Miro to create a mood board and figure out what really fit. I’m doing copper and burgundy and SO excited for all the things to arrive!
Decorate base items first week of October - pine garlands, pillows, fluffy blankets, etc., and add fall related oranges, yellows, and browns until Thanksgiving. Then, Saturday/Sunday after Thanksgiving, take out the fall items and replace with Christmas themes and throw in the tree, bulbs, bows, etc. It is a layered effect with a quick switcheroo.
Yes! As soon as the video started I was hoping you would say green - I have emerald cushions in my living room too with leopard print wallpaper (sounds weird but looks good) and I get the same vibe with your colour palette! I'm sure Christmas at your house is totally magical! 😍
Bought 2 new emerald green pillows and hand towels. Always have loved emerald. Sold two armless high back emerald chairs when I moved…craving them now. Happy holidays!
My main tree in my living area is a traditional deep green, but I saw a flocked tree I fell in love with, and have been obsessing over for a few years so this year, I finally just had to have it! Flocked can be difficult, however to incorporate into decor, and I've seen quite a few where whoever designed it didn't do a very good job - But the one I purchased is different than some flocked trees in that it's a heavy flocking. Some are very light flocking, some are heavier white, but this one I found is perfect and so realistic in that the flocking is quite thick to look like real snow with a good amount of the green underneath and behind visible, which to me looks more realistic than most . AND - I'm NOT replacing the green tree or using it in my main living area - I'm probably going to put in a bedroom (mine or a guest room), or in the landing area upstairs. This way I can still enjoy it, yet I also still think my main tree will always be green.
I don't like the way Jack has to bow down to V. Has she ever served him coffee? Let Jack have the flocked tree if it's important to him. He shouldn't play second fiddle to anyone.
I wanted a flocked tree in my living room this year. I do four trees throughout my house. I found a beautiful heavily flocked tree at Hobby Lobby and at 60% off it was somewhat affordable. I’ve decorated it in white and silver. I normally use my collection of Christopher Radko but instead went with simple ornaments. Boy, was that so much quicker. Part of the reason for going white is because I bought a new grand piano and the flocked tree is gorgeous reflected in the high gloss black of the piano. Thanks for your inspiration. Love watching your videos.
I always can’t wait until the first week of November to decorate for Christmas. Thank you for the inspiration Valentina. I love your color pallet. Greetings from Athens, Greece!!
Here in Canada, we tend to wait until after Remembrance Day, which is Nov. 11th. I, myself, wait even longer as I am dealing with pulling up, dividing and storing my dahlias in November and once that's done, planting daffodils and tulips, all the while creating dried flower arrangements in vases. (I have a mini micro urban flower farm) It's hard to think of Christmas while I am still in garden mode. Once that is all done, its time for the holiday season.
Yes, never before Nov 11, and then it's bulb time. Also, we only do a real tree, so we have to wait until the 2nd weekend of December, which is perfect timing for us
Re : the flocked tree - my college floral design instructor used the expression " Oh , flock ! " as a swear expression . It's been many , many decades but I still get a chuckle when I hear the word " flock / flocked " & I've been known to imitate her on occasion . 🎄 😂
The vignette on the cabinet behind you that’s against the staircase has kept my attention the whole video. With the lamp on and the leaning artwork, I really am inspired to do something similar in my own home.
I live in Norway so we don´t celebrate thanksgiving, I´m thinking of decorating for Christmas this weekend. I love Christmas and Christmas decor, but I also really like fall. So I decided to wait a little, I actually have been wanting to decorate for Christmas since last week. I personally like to add a little wine red into my home during Christmas, to give it a little bit more of a traditional color palette. However I´m not a fan of too much stuff and decor, so I like to keep it minimal.
You are so creative and smart. I love your style! Yes, I'm decorating soon. You are right, decorating used to be right after Thanksgiving. Poor Jack needs his flocked tree somewhere! I have one and I love it.
Yes! I'm loving the greens, white faux furs, metallics this year! I'm attempting a diy green velvet headboard & a tree base. We have a dark navy sofa, charcoal rug, these colors look so rich, cozy, elegant! Love it!
Another great video! I’m on the road quite a bit so I tend to listen to your videos when I’m driving and then when I’m home I’ll put them on so I can re-listen and see what you’ve been talking about. Your voice is so easy to listen to, and your excitement is contagious. I’ve already started decorating and going to put the tree up this coming weekend. Keep the videos coming Valentina, I love it all!! 🎄🎄❤
Enjoy seeing your creativity & reading comments of various color palettes for the holiday . Personally do not care for red so deep jewel tones , antique gold or pewter accents for " shine " + candles , cozy pillows & throws & natural elements , greenery , for warmth work w/ our midwestern country home .
Our family is so excited to decorate. We've always waited until after Thanksgiving but not this year. Knowing how quickly time goes by and how much joy getting our home ready for the holidays brings makes me question why we always waited. Valentina thanks once again for your enthusiasm and great ideas.
I vote for the flocked tree too! All of the choices you have made for ornaments will pop on the flocked tree. I hope you will use it and show others how beautiful it will look. Happy holidays to you and you family.
Hi, Valentina, I am new to the decorating blogs and I have been addicted for 2 months. I am considering decorating earlier this year, at least upstairs. I still love my fall decor and we have Thanksgiving here, for the past 45 years! I think about decorating every day, and love, love it! So glad I found your channel!
I love your style. I aspire to have your style. It is modern, elegant, and so timeless. I always appreciate the sources and links. I would LOVE to see you create your moodboard. (For example it recording your screen as you create) I would love to see the blank page then adding in the elements you want in the room and putting other items in the room. I am sure as you moldboard that you edit and swap things out. I would especially love the commentary on those items that you choose to take out and why you think those items don't work in your space. I would just love to hear more about your process and the way you think in terms of design.
I have already started, family is coming in town and because I’m a planner, like to make sure any new holiday decorations that I want to add are available and have not sold out!!!
I LOVE this video. It's so inspiring. I think it's great that you are adding the emerald green. It is motivating me to bring in my favorite color...eggplant purple! A deep, rich color... I see how you will bring the green into your spaces and how it remains high end! Thank you for sharing! You really know how to communicate well and encourage us to not be boring. Thank you.
Love your color schemes almost exactly what I'm doing! I purchased the emerald green pillow covers last year per your suggestion used them last year and again this year, with pops of chocolate brown, creams and of course black.
🎄 🍊 🎄 I live in England and I will be putting my tree up within the next week. There are quite a few that already have this year too. Yes it's early but I love the magical feeling of Christmas and I want to hold onto it that bit longer. Our childhoods are over as adults but that to me is a time to bring it back. The lights, the candles, the smells, the music. It puts me in my happy place ,it always brings sad memories too of family that have passed on xxx 🕯 🕯 🕯
As soon as its Nov 1st...Mariah has to play, I need my first Starbucks red cup peppermint mocha and then I am picking my color scheme for season as I decorate the week before Thanksgiving. My tree color scheme also matches the wrapped gifts under the tree so it all ties together whole season. I keep pictures of my tree color scheme each year so I never repeat. Love this season 🎄🎄
I do use touches of the emerald green velvet ribbon with the pillows Can’t forget bits of red berries and pomegranate for Christmas I love Pottery Barn I just bought the long antique brass tray I’m loving the touches of brass I love my Balsam Hill tree along with the garland I’m from New York Elegant, style with traditional elements
Hey Valentina, great video. I live in England and always decorate around mid December. It drives me mad cleaning around Christmas decorations for weeks & weeks on end so a few weeks or so is enough for me. Candles and cosy throws though, never too early! x
I have the Pottery Barn quilt you are talking about in the color Loden (green). I love it. I take it out when I decorate for Christmas and use it through the winter months.
Valentina, the star on top of a Christmas tree is not for a bit of Glamor, but represents the star the wisemen followed to the stable where Christ was born. The angel on top of a Christmas tree represents the angels that announced Christ. The gift of God, baby Jesus, is what fills the world with love and warmth. The music and candles fill us with this love of the Christmas season.
Oh I love the color palette that you chose, I can’t wait too see it all come together. I typically decorate in a modern decor style as well, except this year, I am decorating in a whimsical theme for my grand babies. I always decorate on Nov.1st.. lol.. I need more than a month to enjoy it.🥰🎄💖
We love Christmas in our house! We start our Christmas season after Thanksgiving by going to the mountains and getting our trees ourselves... Trees and decor stays until Jan 6, per tradition. We feel its the perfect amount of time for us. We might put the outdoor lights before thanksgiving this year (first time) for convenience so we can focus on interior and not to feel rushed. That is as far as I would go as decorating early.
January 6 my grandmother called old Christmas and it’s Epiphany at the church I went to for years and best of all my husband’s birthday(now deceased). Thankful that 6January is now our third son’s wedding day so it is still a very hopeful and celebrated day❤️❤️
Hello Valentina!! 💙 love your videos! Quick question. What are your thoughts on putting a grommet in the corner of my quartz countertop? So no visible outlet. I can feed my cords/plugs underneath. ?? I would so appreciate your opinion! Please and thank you!!
You've become one of my favorite TH-camrs and i watch you religiously! Thank you for your consistent content and feeding my addiction to your beautiful channel! Ahhhhhh😁😁🙏🙏
Awww poor Jack, you should try the flocked tree. I was a green tree girl but I had wonderful memories of going with grandparents to pick a real tree and have it flocked. So I saw a beautiful one from King of Christmas where it’s not completely flocked and green comes through. It’s beautiful!
As for Jack being outvoted with regards to the 25% vote for the flocked Christmas tree, I wouldn't let that vote hold too much weight. Reason being is because you can get an entirely different range and group of people voting again, and the flocked tree percentage could end up being the 75% in favor of it. It's the same with any survey - all depends on who's voting and how many people are voting. I have both kinds of trees in my home as it adds variety, and they both look great.
Another great one, V!! I always look forward to a new episode and never miss one!! Color palette is SO magical ✨I’m decorating early.. tree 1/4 is up!! 🎄
This is the first year in years I've felt inspired to decorate for Xmas--thank you! I've even been planning it all out like you. And omigosh, I totally laughed out loud when you said, "Oh, and of course we need the Christmas tree." 😂
Eek! I’m not kidding when I say this is my pallet as well! I was shopping last weekend and got a bunch of stuff. Floral Pics, pillow covers, even wrapping paper. Monday I ordered some ornaments on Amazon. Decorating next week when I’m on vaca.
Normally I would be decorated but we’re hosting thanksgiving this year so I’m only doing the tree now. I also planned color scheme for this year and just tweaking the saturation of the colors in the different rooms.
I never thought of using mood boards for Christmas decorating… Genius!!! How about a Vlog on holiday entertainment and foods for family and friends, both formal and informal. To include various menus (and how you build a menu) the recipes, entertainment know how’s and tricks, table decor and place-settings, background music and so forth….please and thank you😊
I was so excited when you showed the emerald green pillows. I just got my Amazon shipment today with velvet emerald green pillow covers and cream boucle covers! Eek so excited to put them out!
I usually wait until December to start decorating for christmas. This year I got an early start...meaning last week of November. I know a couple of people that start earlier but I think most people in Germany handle is similarly...starting 4 weeks before christmas.
I’m also not a fan of a flocked tree, but please consider trying it out because of the fact that it made Jack so happy! Sometimes sacrificing style for someone’s happiness is a well worth it trade. I know whatever route you go will be gorgeous, but just thought I’d comment my two cents after hearing you describe for excited he was lol 🤍
Normally I get tired within a few weeks of the red of Christmas… so this year I will go with green, gold and plum or amber… to see, if I can find the peace with 1 month of Christmas.
Great video, V, and I love that deep emerald green. I’ve seen it as “chimichurri” on a paint swatch, and it’s lovely. To answer the question: I’m in Canada and while my outside decor will go up Dec01, I put my tree up today. I’ve got it with just lights for now, and I’ll put the ornaments up in December, but with it getting dark so early these days I think it looks nice to come home to a glow in the window.
I FOUND the bubble vase yesterday at my HomeGoods. It is a teal color but nothing a can of spray paint can't fix. They had 2 in the coastal section and snagged both of them. I'm so excited to spray paint them
My new tree came in last week and I had to fluff it and verify the lights worked. So of course after all that I left it up! Not decorated but the warm glow is so cheerful when it’s dark at 6pm.
Thank you very much for a good video with many good ideas for decorating for Christmas. I have everything decorated for December 1. So I start a few days before. Many people in Norway, where I live, decorate from the first of December. Looking forward to your video when you have decorated your home for Christmas, so I can see how your plan turned out, because it motivates me and gives me inspiration for how to decorate.
I have started to put my trees up but have not decorated them. Your holiday palette is so beautiful I love every detail. Now you got me want to throw out my plans and get yours 😅😅😅 Love the mood board idea to complete a cohesive holiday story in your home
Great video Valentina! Could you please advise me on what color fur blanket will go with my midnight teal walls and blue bed throw? Curtains are also steel/ blue. Many thanks
Can you show us also what your Christmas wrapping paper options, ribbon, and bits and bobs you are thinking about for this year? I have to say I begin my color palate for the season often with wrapping paper and ribbon as I LOVE a high end look (but not price) on my gift wrapping for Christmas. I took inspiration from what you did last year and ordered the matte black paper with the greenery on top and black velvet ribbon and loved it. Oh yes, i also ordered the white gift tags and the stamp of the antlers. I will probably order the matte black paper again this year as my home is black, white, and neutrals. I use a lot of fresh greenery as decor. So your color palate recommendations work well for my home. I need to get on my ordering soon as things sell out on Amazon quickly. Thanks so much.
Bonjour from Canada Atlantic region ! J’adore all your energy and inspiration boards Noel creeps up to me fast the weather changes and after our November 11 Remembrance Day it’s full swing into Noel I am never organized however feel inspired to start decorating now . My newly furnished living room needs a fresh Noel decor. Merci for your wonderful uploads , xxP
I started watching your channel last year speciffically for the holiday videos, and i stayed. :) I come from a marketing communications background, so i have a "Christmas in July" moment for planning and starting to hunt for gifts for my huuuuge family. But the decor comes out early december for us.
You are not the only one! My son passed in October 2018 and I have not decorated for Christmas since then. Thanks for the inspiration, I am decorating this year!
Wishing you peace and happiness this holiday season.
God bless. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
I am so sorry for your loss Joan
One question I always have after watching your videos…how do you store and organize all your decor from season to season? I’d love to get some your ideas on that as well. Maybe you can inspire us when we need to put away our holiday decorations this year. ❤🎄
Definitely put up Jack’s tree. My husband has had 3 major surgeries in the last 4 years. Now I think a lot more about how much I would miss his shenanigans and sheer joy in things that might not necessarily be my favorites. ❤

Love the idea of shopping your own home and adding new inspiration to that. Environmentally friendly decorating is always a focus for me.
Oh go for the flocked! It really is lovely- I think you will end up really liking it, and it will make Jack’s holiday!!!
The flocked tree will look stunning! 🤍
Already decorating. Love turning on tree while my quest are here for Thanksgiving. Its become a family tradition.
Oh ...let's not forget HE is the reason for the season!!!
Yes! As soon as the video started I was hoping you would say green - I have emerald cushions in my living room too with leopard print wallpaper (sounds weird but looks good) and I get the same vibe with your colour palette! I'm sure Christmas at your house is totally magical! 😍

@Valentina thanks for explaining how you made choices for mood boards, I love learning - not just imitating!
I should have guessed Jack has a music degree, that’s super helpful at the holidays all the time really, music sets the mood

Your living room would live love wood texture to bring in some warmth.
Love your classy yet simple decor creations ❤. Please consider adding a video on cost effective DIY Christmas gift ideas

Valentina thanks once again for your enthusiasm and great ideas.
I put some eggnog in my coffee and I’m ready to watch this video now 😃🌲. These shades of green are my favourite. I love my velvet cushions for winter.
You look especially beautiful, and I love your sweater! I am excited about the holidays too. Can't wait to see all of your upcoming videos!
I always start decorating the day after Thanksgiving as I feel Thanksgiving is more a Fall holiday and blends in better with the fall decor ;)
I vote for the flocked tree too! All of the choices you have made for ornaments will pop on the flocked tree. I hope you will use it and show others how beautiful it will look. Happy holidays to you and you family.

Here in Canada, our Thanksgiving was October 10, 2022. So when November 1 arrives, I’m ready to start the Christmas decorating!
I’m with Jack the flocked tree is georgous!

Hello Valentina!! 💙 love your videos! Quick question. What are your thoughts on putting a grommet in the corner of my quartz countertop? So no visible outlet. I can feed my cords/plugs underneath. ?? I would so appreciate your opinion! Please and thank you!!
Yes I’m starting to decorate🎉
You've become one of my favorite TH-camrs and i watch you religiously! Thank you for your consistent content and feeding my addiction to your beautiful channel! Ahhhhhh😁😁🙏🙏
Thanks Jaclyn!
Los Ángeles I love all your videos classy style. Thank you!! Your the best on here.
So beautiful and inspiring!!
I would really like to see your storage area (basement?) and get some ideas on organizing. PLEASE & THANK YOU!
We have Christmas all year long with our Sputnik chandelier in the dining room 💥🌲🎩🎅🏽
What a great video Valentina!! So much inspiration ♥♥♥♥ You always nail it😘
Your mood boards look beautiful . I can definitely see the flow from room to room. 😍
I live in the Southern hemisphere and my home is 80% decorated. 😀
Hello!!! I’m so excited because we recently moved in our new home and I have the same color pallets. Women you are in my head🤯
Not decorated but the warm glow is so cheerful when it’s dark at 6pm.
fab, I still say that big fur blanket is everything. and yes we are all decorated for xmas.
Omg! We have the same holiday colors. I ’ve been gathering things since early October. Only difference…Jack , I have the flocked tree! Lol 😂
My fellow Greek, I love your style
Great video, love the mood boards!
Oh Valentina!!! You KILLED ME!!! WONDERFUL!!

I’m excited this year to decorate, so I think I will do mines early.
I always by after Christmas especially from kids were very young Christmas on a slightly different day and Kwanzaa
Love all your mood boards
Thank you very much for a good video with many good ideas for decorating for Christmas. I have everything decorated for December 1. So I start a few days before. Many people in Norway, where I live, decorate from the first of December. Looking forward to your video when you have decorated your home for Christmas, so I can see how your plan turned out, because it motivates me and gives me inspiration for how to decorate.
I love the burnt cinnamon color, where are those pillows from that you showed? I don’t see them on the mods boards now.
1st December mine come out ❤️ Great Britain 🇬🇧 xxxx
I have started to put my trees up but have not decorated them. Your holiday palette is so beautiful I love every detail. Now you got me want to throw out my plans and get yours 😅😅😅
Love the mood board idea to complete a cohesive holiday story in your home
Great video Valentina! Could you please advise me on what color fur blanket will go with my midnight teal walls and blue bed throw? Curtains are also steel/ blue. Many thanks
i missed the poll!! i vote FLOCKED!! love it !
Purchased the battery operated Christmas trees from Target … wow! They are gorgeous and only $15.00. Thanks Valentina for sharing this. Enjoyed!
Oh actually you said you got the matte black paper again. Great! Thanks 😊
