Picking Shannon Frizell from Japan would have meant we would not have uncovered Wallace Sititi, so the overseas player debate is a tough one. Imagine if Wallace opted to play for Samoa in the World Cup because he was not willing to wait for his chance to be an AB for three more years.
NZ Rugby would need to follow the Aussie approach after a certain number of tests then eligible to play for the AB's, otherwise there is a risk of a mass exit of young players
Wouldve given them a D. They lost to arg in nz again and lost 2 tests where they were more than 10 points ahead and were in charge. So season is at best a D.
Why do you need Richie Mounga ? To be an average player all year and cost us another World Cup ? He had his chance for 7 years and he failed miserably. A good SR player and that’s his level
I agree hes overated had a chance to win the world cup for us last year but missed the kick he would normally get great players make it count when it really matters.

Looking forward Marty what we need to find next year is big and powerful numbers six and eight . We have the slightly smaller and very mobile loose forwards .In the backs we need to select more naturally creative midfield backs . Barrett and Ioane are strong running players but not naturally creative which is restricting the progress of this team .AS for picking players from overseas i am against it . WE still have a strong production line of producing quality players . The art of selection is as important as coaching and i believe that in NZ the players are there you just have to look hard

@ France just beat us in less defenders beaten line breaks run meters possession territory possession for me I’m agreeing with Razor on this key moments not executed at key times to many times
Our forward pack is only just on par with the top teams and can't make up for the lack of cutting edge of our backline. In fact, our pack is undersized and underpowered in the breakdown compared to France and S Africa and only just achieves parity in the set piece. Our backline suffers from a lack of a outright speed merchant in the wings and a lack of a proper distributor and crash ball in the centres and all our first choice fly halves are converted 15s rather than natural no 10s.
As an outsider(not from NZ), I don't understand the coloniser's perspective on this. A Moari guy used a Maori challenge to make a statement about a big issue the Maori people are facing right now. He is allowed to use the Haka for that. If not, then that means the Haka has been appropriated by the All Blacks and no longer belongs to the Maori to use how they see fit.
@@craigrodger3628 Firstly, it wasn't a personal stance but a Maori stance. Secondly, it was a Maori stance expressed during a Maori challenge. If NZR doesn't want Maori's to use what's theirs to express their views, remove the Haka from the ABs. Until then, Maori's can do what they want with what's theirs.
@@rubain you have to understand outside of NZ. For me the Haka just delays the start to a rugby match, it isn't a given that it is performed on foreign soil but it is allowed out of respect. Imagine watching Ireland v NZ, 3 national anthems, then a Haka. 20 mins of your life you never get back
We always talk about TJ being Maori and how proud he is to be one...fair enough. His mother doesn't have a drop of Maori blood in her as far as I know and I grew up with her and her whanau in Titahi Bay. His Nana is Pat Farrow a NZ softball representative back in the day as are both his parents and his mother's brother - he really should have been an international softball rep - luckily he chose rugby. Do you think he would have these views and made these sorts of statements if it meant excluding his pakeha Nana! I think, and know, not! He loves her as much as any grandchild ever has and would never disrespect this lovely lady. Its time that NZ media did some real investigative journalism to find out who people truly are, and in this case TJ, and not what they think they represent. He would never disrespect his Nana or his mum...pity you so called media missed all of that!
Well he had absolutely no issues with lying to and deceiving his team mates and coach, or with severely diminishing the mana of all haka in the eyes of the majority of Kiwis. So most people now just see him as completely untrustworthy and utterly selfish, a man who sh't on the only Maori cultural export that actually has some fame in the broader world.
Your argument still doesn't give him the right to use the All Blacks for a personal political stunt. Especially in front of an Italian crowd and team who know nothing about what he's screaming his head off about or know anything about the Treaty.
Two things, I was surprised to read that others also believe Reiko is not a great choice for Center. He rarely breaks the ops line and often loses the ball in contact. Razor find someone bigger and stronger and quick. Second thing I was very disappointed with TJ who I always considered to be a gentleman and a very good player.
First, Reiko at center is the problem the lads not a center!!!second, Politicizing the haka was quite disappointing. Really enjoying the new channel thanks Marty!
Why do our coaches and commentators have a blind spot when talking about Rieko Ioane? He is not a center and never has been. He has no eye for space, can't put his outside players into space, and doesn't have the distribution skills to service his back three. Look at the replays of our wingers' tries this year, and you'll see that the vast majority were created for them by other players....Rieko looked like a lost extra on a movie set. You can add to that the number of times he spilled the ball or knocked on in contact...often between the opposition's 22 and 40. His only saving grace is his defense, especially near our line...which has been excellent.
Myttin da, Marty. You do a bloody fine show. Top analysis from, modern-thinking, vastly experienced former ABs are always insightful and most-times great craic, too. Shame Ngani Laumape left the scene. His absence left a glaring hole where a line-breaking power-house 12 went missing, imo. The mid-field lacks "Boom", for want of a better word. The wings and full-backs are lacking decent space to work in.
We are now at point in time now where the forward pack brings more excitement than our backline...are ee England in disguise....in disguissse are we England in disguise Seriously if i hear we are building or still figuring out how to deal with rush defence again im going to call John Mitchell to see if he wants to reapply! Sick of these excuses. im not sure razor knows how to figure out this puzzle. Well saId in TJ, marshy. Nailed it.
Peranara lied to his captain and coach on what he was going to do. He's a coward, he left it till his last game to make his own selfish political stand. God Riddance. Hope the team he's going to in Japan have seconds thoughts as he not a team player, as was seen on Saturday.
Not a team player, you're kidding me, not many are as passionate about things than TJ, yes it was wrong how he went about things, but a coward, says the person & i use that term, very loosely), is someone who is brave behind the keyboard...

What arrogance from TJ ! Who does he think he is corrupting the haka and all black rugby for his own personal activism! Justin put the view on this point very well .
Ok, I'm an old Irish supporter who holds NZ rugby in high esteem. As a half Cornish half Irishman bred, I know the impact that relgion, politics and English law bring. So saying, I strongly feel that no sports person should ever use their sport as a platform to express any religious, political or ethnic views. I still vividly remember seeing two black athletes at the 1968 Olympic Games on the winners blocks; each man raised his fist in the Black Power salute. I was seven. It caused a furore. It was brazen racism. There is a time and a place TJ. Leading the NZ Haka is not the place. There's plenty of time for it in retirement fella. God bless yous and yours, Ann. God bless NZ.
@nielvanderwalt1965 folau expressed his views in his own personal time and not while wearing a Walabies jersey. He was also unjustly axed from the team, and Australian rugby still hasn't recovered.

Look to the past AB backlines. We always had a really strong 12.13 and great wingers and Full backs. And Halves that had the X factor ,Or could stand up again from super to test level. But we haven't got one in the backs that can even get close maybe except Talea or Jordan.,
I don’t get the fuss about TJs haka. The proposed bill has been introduced deliberately to fan the flames of a divisive topic. His response was a call to unity and principles that we share. People are being so dramatic.
I have no issues with tj and haka with the political issues etc, i have no sympathy for politicians. Its up to the ppl in nz to speak up and use any form available to them. Good on him I wouldve done the same, if the pollies can't handle the jandal then politics is not for them
Good if anyone uses the national team for politics then it denagrates the brand and obviously you would be happy if the embarrassing joke called the haka was banned
I get your point, however sport and politics never mix. It's fine if you share your views, but it should be outside of sports in your personal capacity. the moment politics gets its foot into sports, it's over for that sport. So i hope that never gets to that point.
As a Springbok fan the Haka is a special sporting tradition unique in the world. If it becomes anything but a sporting challenge rather remove it. It’s actually ruined for me now. I hate politics in sport.
Thank goodness for politics and sport, Nelson Mandela thanked ABs and persons who participated in on field protests in 1981 are still held with high regard by a lot of Springbok fans.

umm the haka videos get way more views than any of the games 😂 and if you read the comments most people like it 🤣 so you are obviously a minority who we dont care about 😂
Reiko could be a world class centre if he can work on his upper body strength so he can offload and pass better. Dont forget when Nonu first started he was written off and then become on the worlds best centre. Needs to get tips from Sonny Bill and the Professor
I would like to know what the person 'leading' the haka is saying. Is there a script they (he, she or it) follows? Is it discussed and approved, or just ad lib by the one who is yelling? Who understands it anyway? I don't and mostly kiwis don't speak Te Reo! Maybe the words should be put on the big screen so we all can know what is being said?
I don’t agree with TJ using the ABs platform to voice his personal political opinion, but to think the ABs have not been used as a political tool or by a political system is naive, for example, Muldoon and the Boks tour in the 80’s and the NZRU not sending Maori and Pacific Island players to SA back in the day to appease the mortally unjust apartheid system of government.
You forget Marty / Marshall that in the early 1920s they the All Blacks went on to tour South Africa they left behind George Nepia. All Māori players were left behind. Rugby has always been political from standing up for no nuclear testing to supporting the LBTG movement. So yes it has always been political.
No hard men in the All Blacks Team. Too many softies. Gutless. Some of them look scared on the field. No solid crash tacklers in the forwards or the backs. Some of them don't even know how to do a good old fashion hard bone crushing crash tackle like Peter Steph Du Toit does. To preserve the All Blacks brand and mana they should call the All Blacks Team now " The New Zealand Team. " All the good old hard All Blacks players and their associated style of playing rugby are long dead and gone.
Tautoko Justin is oldschool no woke signaling or dog whistling leave at that haka and playing rugby should represent the team not the imagined culture that you think will support pro or anti of this government. Nga mihi nui its refreshing to listen to an old AB Marshall Mertens and Cullen and Lomu are from Uncle Dougs generation they know tradition has its place and its not about further adding on its about respect and keeping yourself and your team united in good spirits. In other words honour the black jersey All Blacks should not be imparted or given a slogan.
Remember John Key politicising the All Blacks in his 2014 election campaign? Te tiriti is not a controversy, it has existed for as long as NZ has, 184 years. This Seymour bill is the problem not TJ Peranara.
John Key was not an AB. Also his govt was involved in securing the hosting of RWC 2011, that had an economic benefit for the country. David Seymour is not the problem. Its people who are not reading the bill..they just react to social media clips. TJP is using his platform to promote his ideology, which is divisive.
Prime Ministers have always tried to associate themselves with the success of the All Blacks. Helen Clark comes to mind. that’s very different from All Blacks becoming politicians as All Blacks.
That’s fine to believe that about Seymour etc but the problem is TJ for Sundays Haka. He’s representing his Country when that jersey is on, not his own political opinion. Voice your opinion as soon as you take that jersey off.
@@Bill6000-v4s Can you imagine a US athlete being considered controversial for supporting the US Constitution? When did te tiriti o Waitangi become a controversial position for any NZer to take? Without te tiriti there's no All Blacks 'cause there's no Aotearoa New Zealand.

They have not got the best personnel in the backline. What are you talking about. We have a makeshift midfield that have no creativity, penetration or distribution skill. Enough of this bullshit. We have the outside backs but the rest is time for the new blood.
The all blacks are a new Zealand sporting team they should never be used to endorse a political view point of one of its team members, me personally don't like t.j pirinara's haka, he should never have lead any all black haka, i feel a sense of embarrassment with t.j's over the top facials and deep breathes its too exaggerated, i was surprised the all blacks management allowed him to continue leading the haka, i would of told him to tone it way down

Agree with you 💯…..don’t forget protests from an AB captain that didn’t want to play SA when they toured NZ back in the day
Picking Shannon Frizell from Japan would have meant we would not have uncovered Wallace Sititi, so the overseas player debate is a tough one. Imagine if Wallace opted to play for Samoa in the World Cup because he was not willing to wait for his chance to be an AB for three more years.
Unfortunately you guys don’t appreciate how far the AB’s have come since Razor took over….
Even SA lost to Argentina and NZ are the only side that can beat Ireland regularly btw they only missed out on a clean sweep by 1 point
great show hello from south Africa
Why do you need Richie Mounga ? To be an average player all year and cost us another World Cup ? He had his chance for 7 years and he failed miserably. A good SR player and that’s his level
I have no idea what you are talking about.
@ watch more rugby
Yep he’s really over rated
I agree hes overated had a chance to win the world cup for us last year but missed the kick he would normally get great players make it count when it really matters.
Couod i ask a question please. Is it legal to try kick the ball or interrupt the pass from the halfback by kicking at it?
Thank you
Always been a fan of your sporting analysis and the guests you get Martin. So glad to see you leave The Platform.
Good on ya Marty, I wasn't going to subscribe to your new channel but I reluctantly clicked the video and was pleasantly surprised with you being forthcoming with your TJ views. I am now a subscriber
We're blessed with great sport broadcasters.
In 2025 ,Razor wont have more excuses. He said that in 2024 , he learned the job. In 2025 , he must win all the titles and tests marches.
Wayne smith must be assistant coach and it is nécessaires for him.
Razor gad a good year reckon things a looking very bright set piece was fantastic and we def looked bit vulnerable there pre Jason I reckon and that is a fantastic place build from go ABs 25!! Chur TJ and Sam!!
Loose forwards went well tho right lotsa line breaks and turnovers won lineout went good scrum solid as… none of our boys getting g smashed out there ?
Keep your eye on landers 6 Oliver Haig
@@beejallison8283 Yes what you say there is true but when it comes to meters gained when we carry the ball that is where we have vast room for improvement . In one test against SA we both had the same amount of carries but they made one hundred meters more with there carries that is not acceptable if you want to win big games
@@danhursty6684 Yes i have heard that he has potential and i have also heard that Will Stoddard also from the Landers is another player to keep an eye on . Both of these players have the physical attributes that the selectors should be looking for . Lets hope they deliver big time next year it would be great for NZ rugby
But Maori are the colonizers
@@Canvashed I don't understand how this comment answers why they can't use their Haka the way they see fit?
This is not the platform for his personal stance, he represents the AB's not TJ, a selfish act..good ridance to him
@@craigrodger3628 Firstly, it wasn't a personal stance but a Maori stance.
20 mins of your life you never get back
Always here for you Marty
There you are.
Bro it was Nana who told him to do it! 😂
Second thing I was very disappointed with TJ who I always considered to be a gentleman and a very good player.
thanks for having the balls Justin to make that call even if it was diluted for this woke press.
I’m really keen to see Billy proctor paired with Jordie B.
ABs Haka has put a curse on the team
Dump this garbage haka
You might win games
Campese had the answer.
Well said Justin
First, Reiko at center is the problem the lads not a center!!!second, Politicizing the haka was quite disappointing. Really enjoying the new channel thanks Marty!
"Politicizing" cry more
Whys Marshall suddenly got a lisp?
Get rid of Rieko
look above
Nah, swap him with Caleb, put Rieko back on the wing where he should've been at the start, the whole Rieko at centre experiment was a huge flop...
Does lester fainganuku play same position as Reiko? If so, get him back to nz for selection and do a clean swap and drop Reiko.
@@Spencer-z6kCaleb can't defend on the wing and you wan t to throw him into the centre? Pass. 😢
We are now at point in time now where the forward pack brings more excitement than our backline...are ee England in disguise....in disguissse are we England in disguise
Seriously if i hear we are building or still figuring out how to deal with rush defence again im going to call John Mitchell to see if he wants to reapply!
Sick of these excuses.
im not sure razor knows how to figure out this puzzle.
Well saId in TJ, marshy. Nailed it.

For all these pundits saying politucs out of sport, etc I'm sure they dont mind the additional likes and subscribers as a direct result of TJ's Haka. Maybe they should be thanking him??
There is no specialist fullback. GO THE MIGHTY ALL BLACKS.
To win another World Cup (a pipe dream at present) NZRFU must lose the Stone Age tag and start selecting eligible overseas players.
Great idea then even the slightly more well off clubs from overseas would be here taking anybody who could even catch a ball that would make super rugby, provincial and club rugby even more off a joke
What arrogance from TJ ! Who does he think he is corrupting the haka and all black rugby for his own personal activism! Justin put the view on this point very well .
Yet tj was running his mouth when folau expressed his views.

Surely if the haka is to be used as a tool for political expediency, that,is reason enough to have it banned.
Politically put Justin Marshall! We all agree though.
Rugby needs another Nonu or Umaga... that should change a few things
I never realised Justin Marshall had a lisp. But lovely was his pass and glorious was his hair.
He doesn't it only on this channel for some reason , listen to his podcast or his commentary... no lisp 🤔
He doesn't normally so I wonder if alcohol or concussion is getting the better of him, Ian Jones is the same.
I think lovely Marshy has new dentures, familiar , been there
Look to the past AB backlines. We always had a really strong 12.13 and great wingers and Full backs. And Halves that had the X factor ,Or could stand up again from super to test level. But we haven't got one in the backs that can even get close maybe except Talea or Jordan.,
The Devlin of old would've ripped Perenara a new one. GO WOKE GO BROKE Marty!
I don’t get the fuss about TJs haka. The proposed bill has been introduced deliberately to fan the flames of a divisive topic. His response was a call to unity and principles that we share. People are being so dramatic.
Bullshit it was. TJ is a race hustler from way back.
I have no issues with tj and haka with the political issues etc, i have no sympathy for politicians. Its up to the ppl in nz to speak up and use any form available to them. Good on him I wouldve done the same, if the pollies can't handle the jandal then politics is not for them
You must be a selfish, narcissistic racist too then
Good if anyone uses the national team for politics then it denagrates the brand and obviously you would be happy if the embarrassing joke called the haka was banned
I get your point, however sport and politics never mix. It's fine if you share your views, but it should be outside of sports in your personal capacity. the moment politics gets its foot into sports, it's over for that sport.
So i hope that never gets to that point.
@ totally agree
So if some ABs are pro Bill next year and want to incorporate that into the Haka it’s ok hey?
As a Springbok fan the Haka is a special sporting tradition unique in the world. If it becomes anything but a sporting challenge rather remove it. It’s actually ruined for me now. I hate politics in sport.
Thank goodness for politics and sport, Nelson Mandela thanked ABs and persons who participated in on field protests in 1981 are still held with high regard by a lot of Springbok fans.
@ That was not politics but about unification, about bringing the country together, don’t confuse personal one sided political opinion with unification.
Maybe but Haka should be done in NZ only. Has nothing to do with rest of us
@@charlerasmus5013 that is your choice but politics has always been a part of sports as history shows….As a Springboks fan how many black players do you think would playing now if politics was not involved in sports??
TJ was wrong, wearing an AB shirt, dont understand Marty! Dont make excuses, no one is questioning his ability but political crap is not on
TJ was right. He's doing a Maori haka. He has the right to make a Maori Haka that supports Maori.
It’s a Haka it’s an issue that involves Māori and he has earned the right I reckon
This is nothing new for All Blacks. Ignorance is alive and well in NZ. What these issues have highlighted if anything, is how racist NZ actually is.
Marshal is old man from Gore telling Maori what they can and cant do. lol. FO.
Politics have no place in sport. Yet it has a part in every other aspect in life.

With all due respect Marshy how was Josh Crusher Kronfeld any different from TJ when he was wearing his anti nuclear headgare
If Richie was available.
We would have won every game.
We won the first game against BOKKE.
Ref fucked up.
He was demoted after that game
Just needs a change!

Correct Marsy
