    Holy smoke - this is the castle they used in the 1970 horror film, "Dr. Orloff's Invisible Horror!" The movie uses another castle for the interiors (I think). At least, I don't recognize any of the rooms. At $5.69M, it's a steal - in the US there are hundreds thousands of homes far more costly (and they're so ugly compared to this one)!

    • @cyrillemaire3383
      @cyrillemaire3383 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      these castles were very well designed, there is no problem if it is still maintained. For drainage, the foundations are very deep and very solid. At the time, they knew how to anticipate any problem, and everything was done to last over time. This is why hundreds of medieval and renaissance castles are still standing and in good condition today. In the "PAYS DE LA LOIRE", a region of France, there are around 3000.

    welcome to classified historic monuments and you have to hire qualified contractors and manage it closely. I am French and have several friends from noble origin that would take any deal to off-load their castle. The upkeep is steep but if you have deep pocket, this is very rewarding to own a piece of history and preserve it. if you can turn it into a Hotel & Restaurant of high standing... but the tourisme recovery is a long way away... @carolweaver3269 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Love, love this home. Wish I were rich and could afford it and to keep it as it needs to be and have some help cooking and cleaning. Also for outside work. Really would be very comfortable, if it were affordable though for someone like me. Then it could be kept up nicely and taken care of as it should be, as it is only ours temporarily, (as we must leave this earth at some point) and then we must be ready to pass it on to someone else, who truly will love it also!
    The only drawback would maybe be the fact it is in the water and wonder if this has caused problems in the architecture at lower levels and maybe more? Hope it can pass inspection for the one who buys it though? As that might be a problem? Wonder if that makes it damp? Otherwise, it would be perfect for some lucky owner. But you would need to be rich, as of keeping it heated etc, and keeping it up with some help as some may need to help with various workloads. What nice dance and smaller parties one could have one in a while. This home is worth showing to people to some degree without showing off, just sharing and allowing people to feel the love you have for it.

      @@carolhutchinson7763 These places are avoided like the plague by wealthy French people. They're horrible money pits in terms of upkeep and utilities and French property taxes are brutal. That's why there's always a glut of French country houses and chateaus on the market for dirt cheap prices......but there's always more starry-eyed foreigners to dupe into buying.

    The French government needs to buy these one by one as they go for sale, renovate them, employ a staff to create a money maker ! As long as you have paying visitors, no chateau will ever deteriorate again. Seems like there is a healthy interest in French chateaus recently and these estates could support themselves and all involved forever.

    As a Dane from the Kingdom of Denmark I can tell you that heating this monstrosity is a nightmare. Maintaining it is an even bigger nightmare, and fixing it up to 20th century standards of living a yet bigger nightmare. Yes it looks bewitching. It's not although it probably is haunted!

    Is that price correct? It doesn't seem right. I would think that could sell for more like 50 million not 5mil

      So much money to run them, not many people want to. Lots in various states of repair, more on the market than demand, so prices are low. You can get a decentish one for $500k depending where you want to be.

    Creepy!..the Marquise de Sade would feel at home here!..beautiful historical architecture, but if I had 5 mil, i'd buy a country estate instead..or a beach house on some sprawling waterfront property

      They absolutely will! Actually I live in a small Castle and it is Haunted, not very creapy ghosts but still we saw the former inhabitants wife in one of the bathrooms😳in a flash and I knew she was passed away. And we saw three people standing in our garden which is impossible because we close the porch at night. It was in the middle of the night and they were dressed like people from 1840 or something.
      We could see the clearly walking in Some kind of a loup, repeating. And we often hear knocking IN the walls.

    That place could win an award for most creepy. It probably has more ghosts in there than all the Queen of England's castles together. I'd have to be paid a lot of money to just spend a night in there, let alone live in that. But then French people like that shit. 👻😱

      I'd turn it into a themed hotel. Perhaps seasons of different horror themes. The rooms would need decorating of course. Gritty, not glitzy.
      If taxation and running costs allowed.
