Thank you so much for this video! Very clear and informative! It’s so important to have good guidance for prayer 🙏🏻✝️💜 Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, bless you both 🌹
The rosary maybe the simplest but challenging prayer. As a cradle catholic I found it to be too repetitive. But much later after realizing Our Blessed Mother was asking through a dream I started doing it word for word in my mind with my eyes closed. A rosary that may take 15 minutes took me 30 minutes or longer. Knowing and obliging that this will make her happy I did it like a child wanting to make their parents happy. I also drawn my heart or emotions what it feels like to be betrayed or fear of the future in the agony in the garden or how weak like the apostles to fall asleep. Through the rosary Our Blessed Mother always points me to her son, Jesus. Our mind, heart and soul should be there. May God’s Grace pour into his children. God bless you all!
I’ve been spending over an hour with Jesus every morning after rosary and spiritual reading( 7 plus years) I just talk to him about what I’ve read. I read for example my favorite book The Imitation Of Christ. I Read then talk to him. I try to make resolutions in what I’m inspired in my conscience to get right however...I DONT FEEL LIKE IM GROWING!! I’m concerned that I talk to much to Jesus. I don’t know. I’m just so full of desire to get closer to him. I read The interior Castle and Saint Teresa Of Avila fantastic biography but really I’ve been in mansion 3 for a long time. Thankyou for helping me. My heart is like a car that hasn’t been working and the hood is wide open for the master to fix it
Your post hits home with me. I haven't been at it nearly as long as you, but I get what you're saying. Fr Rippenger always says do not rely on feelings, Jesus tells St Faustina the same. The will is what is important and you are doing the Lord's will, I'm sure. So I would say don't despair that you don't feel anything. Also, if you haven't already, make a total Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and she will take whatever you do for the Lord and add to it. PS I have my morning coffee with Jesus, aside from my formal mental prayer where I just chatter away. I tell Him everything because even though He knows everything, He wants to hear it from me, about my day, my fears, etc. Bonus- He doesn't roll His eyes at me or tell me He heard my stories a million times before. I think the evil one is trying to discourage you. Keep at it. God loves you for it
@@annieg1593 Faustina is not a saint, (I know this is shocking). Her writings were actually condemned. She said, for exemple, that Our Lord told her that she would not had a particular judgedment like the rest of us. This is heresy.
On the SSPX Ignatian retreats we learn the lowest power of the soul is emotion and feelings. Push through. If you're not getting spiritual consolations, God it's testing you... will you persevete without them? Yes, for the Love of God. ❤
I’ve been seeing a lot of videos of mental prayer and honestly I’ve always done it so I don’t find it hard to do. So long as I’m in peace peace. I remember a church member being in total awe of me just dropping in and saying, yeah it’s easy. It’s like saying thanks for the water, it’s nice and crisp. Thanks for my shoes they’re comfortable and advancing to the I ask you to keep my family safe, asking for my neighbors, proceeds to the world. then proceeding with my own needs and then eventually there’s this insane calmness where you both pray and bask in oneness. I find praying the rosary nice but very challenging at times because of the structure.
I would like to know more about contemplation. Exactly what does it look like? I may have done it/be doing it but am not sure. I also want to know what to do to stop unwanted images suddenly forming in the imagination as attacks and interruptions during mental prayer. Thanks
Hi Carolyn, being a little afraid of God is not a bad thing because it keeps us from being disrespectful. We are supposed to be in awe of His greatness as compared to our nothingness. But that said, we are given examples of His close friendship, when He cried over the dead Lazarus, when He asked St Peter three times, “do you love Me “ etc. Also He specifically wanted devotion to His Sacred Heart and the heart is the center of love. I hope that helps

@ginakendrick2581 Talk to a priest. We are not very good in understanding our own spiritual needs, generally.
On the SSPX Ignatian retreats we learn the lowest power of the soul is emotion and feelings.
Push through.

How do we submit questions on mental prayer?
How is Fr Alphonsus? Is he building a new redemptorist community in America?
Yes he is
Submit them in the live chat next time!
Is that Thomas Naegale interviewing you, Fr Alphonsus?
No, it's Joseph Lanthier
@@claregoldade I thought it was Thomas too!!!
I just can't think of God as my friend. I am a little afraid of him.
