Yep, 90s boards were way more rockered than today. They were good boards but most shapers were building boards for "perfect waves" for perfect surfers. That was the assumption whereas today we have more options, especially in mushy surf.
Back in 95' I had my shaper Syd Willmett (Glasser at Nev Surfboards) make me 6'1 x 17 7/8 x 2 1/8 boards. I used to get him to take as much foam out of the nose as possible without it snapping before being glassed. I probably only weighed 130lb at the time though. Rarely anyone surfed over 18 1/4 wide back then. I can't say I caught waves as easy as I do now on current boards but they were fun.
Kelly is signed with Quiksilver I believe, and that means he signed to surf Quiksilver gear and can't wear both redbull and QS. (He may be signed with ripcurl actually)
Truly amazing series... Keep it up for all the viewers to enjoy
A timeless video. I love to watch it.
Its going to be hard to wait another entire week for the next episode.
"I Need some help, and that board wasnt giving it to me" lol

Mike C I agree
Mike C but then again the pros are always looking out for the perfect wave and can afford to travel to it.
